: Differences of blood pressure on left or right arm can be caused by several factors, including age factor, vascular occlusion, peripheral vascular disease, and heart problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the ratio of blood pressure measurements on the left arm and right arm in patients with hypertension. The research method used was descriptive analityc. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling, with the number of samples 31 respondents in room Irina C BLU RSUP Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Manado. With SPSS (Statistic Program for Science) used Wilcoxon signed test, at the 95% significance level (α =0.05), showed the value of p=0.034 (<0.05). This research was carried out three times measurements one ach respondent obtain and average value of measurements on the left arm of 2.9032 and 2.7097 on the right arm. The conclusion: There is a difference between the blood pressure measurement results on left arm and right arm in patients with hypertension

Along with the rapid technology development, the USAge of computer input tools is also on the rise. Starting from a keyboard which had specific message for each button, developed into touch screen technology which enables human to interact directly with the screen; now technology in which a mere gesture is enough to input a command to the computer is being developed. Gesture detection can be done by the utilization of several tools. For instance, Kinect is one of the tools which are equipped with depth sensor that is capable to recognize and tracking human joints. The system being made is consisted of skeletal tracking process toward user and motion detection. Skeletal tracking process had been provided by kinect sdk. That skeletal tracking is utilized to detect user's hand position. User's hand detection is used to detect the gesture that is done by the user. The making of this application is done by Microsoft Visual Studio C# WPF 2010 and Kinect Software Development Kit.Therefore, this thesis is aimed to make an application which is capable in gesture and hand position detection on certain areas. This application utilized Kinect as the media for command input. The process starts from the checking of position movement, which will be identified as swipe gesture later on. In addition, hand position detection in specific areas is also being utilized, in order to determine how wide those areas is able to be touched by hand, when the user's position is exactly in the centre of Kinect's senso

This study aims to explore the role of education in realizing equitable development by fighting for all rights. This study was conducted through a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The results of the study show that education plays an important role in encouraging equitable development through providing fair and equitable access to education, empowering communities through education, and improving the quality of education. However, there are still challenges in realizing equitable development through education, such as a lack of education funding and infrastructure and a lack of community participation in the development process. Therefore, this study recommends that the government and related institutions make efforts to fight for all rights to education, improve the quality of education, and encourage community participation in the development process

Silicon Mie Resonators for Highly Directional Light Emission from monolayer MoS2

Controlling light emission from quantum emitters has important applications ranging from solid-state lighting and displays to nanoscale single-photon sources. Optical antennas have emerged as promising tools to achieve such control right at the location of the emitter, without the need for bulky, external optics. Semiconductor nanoantennas are particularly practical for this purpose because simple geometries, such as wires and spheres, support multiple, degenerate optical resonances. Here, we start by modifying Mie scattering theory developed for plane wave illumination to describe scattering of dipole emission. We then use this theory and experiments to demonstrate several pathways to achieve control over the directionality, polarization state, and spectral emission that rely on a coherent coupling of an emitting dipole to optical resonances of a Si nanowire. A forward-to-backward ratio of 20 was demonstrated for the electric dipole emission at 680 nm from a monolayer MoS2 by optically coupling it to a Si nanowire

Signatures of exciton coupling in paired nanoemitters

    Get PDF
An exciton formed by the delocalized electronic excitation of paired nanoemitters is interpreted in terms of the electromagnetic emission of the pair and their mutual coupling with a photodetector. A formulation directly tailored for fluorescence detection is identified, giving results which are strongly dependent on geometry and selection rules. Signature symmetric and antisymmetric combinations are analyzed and their distinctive features identified

AVONET: morphological, ecological and geographical data for all birds

Functional traits offer a rich quantitative framework for developing and testing theories in evolutionary biology, ecology and ecosystem science. However, the potential of functional traits to drive theoretical advances and refine models of global change can only be fully realised when species‐level information is complete. Here we present the AVONET dataset containing comprehensive functional trait data for all birds, including six ecological variables, 11 continuous morphological traits, and information on range size and location. Raw morphological measurements are presented from 90,020 individuals of 11,009 extant bird species sampled from 181 countries. These data are also summarised as species averages in three taxonomic formats, allowing integration with a global phylogeny, geographical range maps, IUCN Red List data and the eBird citizen science database. The AVONET dataset provides the most detailed picture of continuous trait variation for any major radiation of organisms, offering a global template for testing hypotheses and exploring the evolutionary origins, structure and functioning of biodiversity
