Strategic situation, design and simulation of a biorefinery in Andalusia

In a lignocellulosic feedstock based biorefinery, biomass can be transformed in several products, with different chemical and/or agro-industrial applications, and energy (biofuels). The use of biomass waste is strongly advocated under European Union (EU) legislation in order to help achieve the climate and energy targets of the EU for 2020 and beyond. In this context, this study was focussed on the design and simulation of a biorefinery to mainly obtain ethanol and DME. These biofuels were obtained from waste forestry and agricultural waste biomass collected near the area where the biorefinery plant was proposed to be installed, to minimize the transportation costs and to promote the valorization of the biomass waste generated in this region. Moreover, the industrial applications of the possible obtained by-products were evaluated to minimize the environmental impacts and to make the biorefinery more sustainable. The central area of Andalusia was selected as the most adequate area to develop the installation of the biorefinery plant. Two commercial simulation software, such as Aspen HYSYS® and UniSim®, were used to design and size the equipments and to simulate both production lines. One of the most important achievements of this biorefinery is the possibility of obtaining 42,700 T y-1 of ethanol with a purity of 96%, which supposes a 16.5% of the Spanish national production in 2016, and 137,850 T y-1 of DME, with a purity of 99.99%. from these biomass waste Both compounds can be used as alternative fuels or energy sources. A techno-economic analysis was performed, obtaining a minimum selling price of 0.58 $/L for bioethanol, 1.15$/kg for DME and 0.65 $/kg for HMF and LA, respectively. These prices are comparable to those found in the literature. Furthermore, the implementation of the biorefinery in this strategic area promotes its economic and social development, improving the use of the natural resources to obtain competitive products to fossil fuels.Universidad de Málaga. Pavimentos permeables. Una aproximación convergente en la construcción de vialidades urbanas y en la preservación del recurso agua

Se analiza el uso de los concretos permeables en la infraestructura para la movilidad urbana. En este sentido, se revisa el diseño convencional de pavimentos y se observa que está en una condición de divergencia: atiende a la resistencia, pero no a la preservación del agua. Este diseño introduce los aspectos básicos en la aplicación de los concretos permeables. Se concluye que para una movilidad urbana sustentable la utilización de concretos permeables debe ser una alternativa, ya que atienden requerimientos de infraestructura, manejo y preservación del recurso agua. En la prospectiva se plantean acciones para mejorar y ampliar las posibilidades de utilización de los pavimentos permeables

On fuzzy uniformities induced by a fuzzy metric space

[EN] Different types of fuzzy uniformities have been introduced in the literature standing out the notions due to Hutton, Hohle and Lowen. The main purpose of this paper is to study several methods to endow a fuzzy metric space (X, M, *), in the sense of George and Veeramani, with a probabilistic uniformity and with a Hutton [0, 1](-quasi)-uniformity. We will show the functorial behavior of these constructions as well as its relation with respect to Lowen's functors and Katsaras's functors, which establish a relationship between the categories of probabilistic uniformities and Hutton [0, 1](-quasi)-uniformities with the category of classical uniformities respectively. Perception of Advertisements for Healthy Food on Social Media: Effect of Attitude on Consumers' Response

The growing concern for health is currently a global trend, so promoting healthy products is an opportunity that companies can exploit to differentiate their products in highly competitive markets. The purpose of this research is to examine the antecedents of social media advertising value and their consequences for attitudes to healthy food and intentions to consume it, in a representative sample of Spanish consumers. The theory of Ducoffe's advertising value model was used as a conceptual framework for the antecedents of attitudes based on utilitarian and hedonic values. To achieve this objective, a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out based on primary data from a survey of a representative sample of the Spanish population with 2023 valid questionnaires. The Partial Least Square (PLS) method was applied to test the hypothesized relationships and predictive variables. The result of this research allows us to determine which variables influence the consumer's response, as measured by intention, motivated by the consumer's attitude to the value of healthy food, as influenced by the advertising value on social networks. Furthermore, the findings show that, for advertising healthy food on social networks to be valuable, it must be credible and richly informative

Las Bibliotecas Universitarias en los Sistemas Bibliotecarios

Los últimos 20 años han resultado de gran transcendencia para las bibliotecas andaluzas al incidir en ellas tanto los avances tecnológicos, como los de política bibliotecaria, si bien de distinta forma según la tipología de biblioteca que tratemos. Para el presente estudio nos vamos a centrar en la biblioteca universitaria, y en los avances que ha representado para ella la política bibliotecaria. Si analizamos la legislación española, tanto la histórica como la vigente, la biblioteca universitaria aparece en mayor o menor medida, en un buen número de disposiciones. Desde las leyes de la desamortización, hasta la Ley Orgánica de Universidades y su desarrollo en los Estatutos universitarios, se pasa por otras normativas de gran calado como el Decreto de 1901 y el de 1932, a partir de los cuales se va a producir un significativo retroceso. Para estudiar la integración de la biblioteca universitaria en el sistema bibliotecario, examinamos tanto la legislación nacional, como la andaluza, donde se prevén las fórmulas de dicha integración. Otra normativa queda fuera de este estudio por entender que no aborda el tema que tratamos; son los Estatutos universitarios y Reglamentos de bibliotecas universitarias, derivados de ellos. Hemos extractado de las leyes y normas que, de forma más o menos expresa, se refieren a la biblioteca universitaria, los artículos que tienen que ver con el asunto indicado, acompañándolos con un análisis, así como con algunas consideraciones sobre su aplicación, sobre todo en aquellas que cuentan con una cierta trayectoria. De alguna manera, se aprecia el paralelismo en los dos ámbitos estudiados, donde va apareciendo legislación relacionada; es el caso de la Constitución y el Estatuto de autonomía, las leyes sobre patrimonio y sobre universidades. Esta circunstancia va a permitir distinguir las similitudes y diferencias existentes. Como complemento, se valora la participación en redes y consorcios bibliotecarios, surgidos también en los dos ámbitos referidos, y donde los primeros logros parten de la propia constitución de los mismos y de la consecución de objetivos tangibles. A modo de conclusión se incluye la valoración de la realidad existente ante lo apuntado, y se reflexiona de cara al futuro acerca de la integración de las bibliotecas universitarias en el sistema bibliotecario andaluz, las formas de hacerlo y la repercusión que esto supondría

Segmentación automática de aneurismas aórticos abdominales a partir de imágenes de resonancia magnética basada en modelos activos de forma y modelos de textura

Se presenta un algoritmo semiautomático de segmentación de aneurismas aórticos abdominales (AAA) basado en modelos activos de forma (ASM) y modelos de textura. La información de textura viene dada por un conjunto de cuatro imágenes 3D de resonancia magnética (RM) compuestas por cortes axiales de la zona abdominal. En estas imágenes son visibles la luz aórtica, la pared aórtica y el trombo intraluminal (ILT). Dado el tamaño limitado del conjunto de imágenes de RM, se han implementado un ASM que capture las características específicas del conjunto de entrenamiento compuesto por 35 imágenes de tomografía axial computarizada (CTA), de modo que la variación de forma pueda ser adecuadamente caracterizada. La textura se caracteriza a partir de las imágenes de RM. Para la evaluación del algoritmo se ha llevado a cabo una validación cruzada dejando uno fuera sobre el conjunto de imágenes de RM

Trajectory optimization for exposure to minimal electromagnetic pollution using genetic algorithms approach: A case study

Low-frequency electromagnetic pollution associated with electricity supplies and electrical appliances creates broad and specific challenges. Among them, knowing the values of this pollution in urban areas to prevent long exposure in the daily life human beings is rising in today's information society. This paper presents a comprehensive approach for, first, mapping electromagnetic pollution of complete urban areas and, second, based on the former data, the trajectories planning of commuting with minimal electromagnetic exposure. In the first stage, the proposed approach reduces the number of necessary measurements for the pollution mapping, estimating their value by optimizing functional criteria using genetic algorithms (GAs) and considering the superposition effect of different sources. In the second stage, a combination of a specifically designed search space and GA as optimization algorithm makes it possible to determine an optimized trajectory that represents a balanced solution between distance and exposure to magnetic fields. The results verify the obtaining of a complete mapping with less error, between 1% and 2.5%, in power lines and medium/low voltage (MV/LV) substations, respectively. The proposed approach obtains optimized trajectories for different types of commuting (pedestrians, bikers, and vehicles), and it can be integrated into mobile applications.
