This piece analyses how anti-corruption organisms in Central America advance US dominance in the region. These institutions seem to have spearheaded American interests in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador in a context of growing dispute with China. We suggest Western countries should focus on domestic measures to fight corruption abroad and international organisms should respect the sovereignty of target states.
Implementation of an engine condition trend monitoring (ECTM) program in a part M organization : Pratt & Whitney PT6A-67D Engine
The goal of the present work is to implement an Engine Condition Trend Monitoring (ECTM)
program on EASA Part M organization, using an automatic system of data acquisition, ADAS
(Aircraft Data Acquisition Unit).
The ECTM program will consist on the study of the process and methodologies to use, in the
elaboration of an internal ECTM manual for the company and also the elaboration of reports
for two P&W PT6A-67D engines, for the year 2013.
The ECTM program besides being mandatory by the aviation authorities, allows the study of
an engine performance and that will improve the safety are reliability of the aircraft
operation. From the maintenance point of view will be possible to monitor the engine
damage, improve the schedule maintenance and the engine components life limit. Regarding
the economics will have less non scheduled components change and also less money spend in
schedule components replacements.
The ECTM program presented can be use in any other operator with this type of engines,
regardless of the fleet size.
To finalize, the internal ECTM manual produced should be sent for approval to the local
propostasAbstract : The report contained in this document was prepared within the scope of the Artistic
Teaching Project curricular unit and is divided into two dissimilar parts. First, the work
developed in the context of the Supervised Teaching Practice, carried out in the
academic year 2020/2021, at the Escola de Música de São Teotónio (EMST) is
presented. Information about EMST, its educational project, characterization of the
Classical Guitar and Ensemble Classes: Guitar Orchestra, respective general
skills/objectives and evaluation criteria, as well as lesson planning and reports and
individual reflection on this are included. stage of my learning journey.
In the second part of this written essay, a research work is presented with the title
The Tablature as a didactic resource in the basic education of Classical Guitar. It
consists of a study carried out with classical guitar students, aged between 7 and 18
years old. In this investigation, a comparative analysis is carried out between the study
of a musical work for classical guitar only using the reading in score and the study of a
second work that simultaneously contains the reading both in score and in tablature.
The main objective of this analysis is to assess how learning using tablature as a
complementary didactic resource to the score can be an asset to the current Classical
Guitar teaching system, perceiving the degree of motivation/satisfaction of the
students involved. , translated or not, by the efficiency in the execution of the proposed
work
The Imperfections of Conditional Programs and the Case for Universal Basic Income
What is the impact of replacing conditional welfare programs with a Universal Basic Income (UBI) that costs the same? We answer this question using a general-equilibrium model with incomplete markets that accounts for three imperfections of conditional programs: incomplete take-up, illegitimate transfers, and administrative costs. We find that these imperfections, particularly incomplete take-up, substantially affect welfare. We also find that replacing the conditional programs with a UBI would increase capital stock, employment, and output, and lower inequality. Yet, the welfare effect of a UBI is not clear-cut. Aggregate welfare would fall in our benchmark, but a moderately larger UBI would be preferable to an equal expansion of conditional programs, especially for the least educated
Backtesting Value-at-Risk Models
Dissertação de mestrado em FinançasIn the last decades, Value-at-Risk has become one of the most popular risk measurements
techniques in the financial world. However, VaR models are only useful if they predict risk
accurately. In order to evaluate the quality of the VaR estimates, it is necessary to perform
appropriate and diverse backtesting methodologies.
In this study I test VaR estimates obtained from an unconditional parametric models (student-t
generalized error, skewed student-t, pareto, and Weibull distributions) for four stock market
indexes (DJIA, SP-500, Nikkei 225 and Dax 30) considering several different confidence levels.
A rolling function procedure is applied to estimate the models parameters through maximum
likelihood.
The performance of the VaR models is measured by applying several different tests of
Unconditional Coverage, Independence and Conditional Coverage.
The results of the backtests provide some indication of the possible problems of the models,
being the main one the independence property, leading us to conclude that they do not react
well under high turbulent times, and consequently exceptions are auto correlated and come in
clusters.
acertada do risco.
bastante correlacionadas
