Condensation of beta-hydroxy sulfones and vinyl sulfones with aldehydes and ketones using phenyllithium as base

Phenyllithium proved to be optimum, giving yields of compounds 9-12a-e ranging from 67 to 80%. Condensation of vinyl sulfones 15a-c with aldehydes also worked very well with PhLi, and the resulting adducts 16a-d were transformed into protected syn 1,3-diols flanked with an olefin at the a carbon by a new conjugate addition/elimination sequence. These products are models for the C21-C25 sub-unit of Dolabelides

Transition-metal-free a-arylation of enolizable aryl ketones and mechanistic evidence for a radical process
The a-arylation of enolizable aryl ketones can be
carried out with aryl halides under transition-metal-free
conditions using KOtBu in DMF. The a-aryl ketones thus
obtained can be used for step- and cost-economic syntheses of
fused heterocycles and Tamoxifen. Mechanistic studies demonstrate
the synergetic role of base and solvent for the initiation
of the radical process
Data Management Plans: the Importance of Data Management in the BIG‐MAP Project[]**
Open access to research data is increasingly important for accelerating research. Grant authorities therefore request detailed plans for how data is managed in the projects they finance. We have recently developed such a plan for the EU−H2020 BIG-MAP project—a cross-disciplinary project targeting disruptive battery-material discoveries. Essential for reaching the goal is extensive sharing of research data across scales, disciplines and stakeholders, not limited to BIG-MAP and the European BATTERY 2030+ initiative but within the entire battery community. The key challenges faced in developing the data management plan for such a large and complex project were to generate an overview of the enormous amount of data that will be produced, to build an understanding of the data flow within the project and to agree on a roadmap for making all data FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable). Dans une première partie est décrite une réaction de Ugi-Smiles avec des équivalents d'ammoniaque ainsi que des post-condensations à cette réaction. Dans une seconde partie, des nouvelles réactions de Passerini entre des isonitriles, des phosphonates d'acyle et différents partenaires acides ont été décrites.
