International learning as a driver of innovation in local-level policy-making: achievements and challenges from peer review of local homelessness policies

Analysis of housing and homelessness policies commonly focuses on the policy-making process at the national level, albeit recognising an important role for local agencies in policy implementation. This paper examines drivers for distinct local (city) level policy-making, and the potential role for international ‘peer review’ of local policies in sharing changing practice and enhancing the effectiveness of policy development and service delivery. The analysis reviews the first five years of annual peer reviews of city homelessness policies in Europe, mediated through the HABITACT European Exchange Forum on local homelessness strategies (2010-2014). After setting the context of EU-wide and national-level developments on homelessness policy, the paper examines the policy and practice responses of the case study cities that were subject to peer review, comparing city-level policy-making with the international research evidence base to reveal factors driving innovation at the local level. The process of peer review of city-level homelessness models is assessed through a comparison of the five reviews to date (each comprising an initial discussion paper, peer review workshop and post-workshop report) and the reflections of participating cities on the follow-up process, in order to assess the impact for both host and peer cities. The analysis confirms both the substantive role for local policy-making in meeting the needs of homeless people and the added value of a structured peer review process to support international lessonlearning and assess realistic prospects for the transferability of local policy innovations to peer cities with different national policy frameworks

A model-based approach to assess the effectiveness of pest biocontrol by natural enemies

Main goal: The aim of this note is to propose a modeling approach for assessing the effectiveness of pest biocontrol by natural enemies in diversified agricultural landscapes including several pesticide-based management strategies. Our approach combines a stochastic landscape model with a spatially-explicit model of population dynamics. It enables us to analyze the effect of the landscape composition (proportion of semi-natural habitat, non-treated crops, slightly treated crops and conventionally treated crops) on the effectiveness of pest biocontrol. Effectiveness is measured through environmental and agronomical descriptors, measuring respectively the impact of the pesticides on the environment and the average agronomic productivity of the whole landscape taking into account losses caused by pests. Conclusions: The effectiveness of the pesticide, the intensity of the treatment and the pest intrinsic growth rate are found to be the main drivers of landscape productivity. The loss in productivity due to a reduced use of pesticide can be partly compensated by biocontrol. However, the model suggests that it is not possible to maintain a constant level of productivity while reducing the use of pesticides, even with highly efficient natural enemies. Fragmentation of the semi-natural habitats and increased crop rotation tend to slightly enhance the effectiveness of biocontrol but have a marginal effect compared to the predation rate by natural enemies. Agroforestry & Adaptation to Climate Change

Agroforestry is mentioned in the Adaptation Strategy or Adaptation Plan of ONLY 11 Member States. This is despite extensive scientific literature on using agroforestry systems to help adapt agriculture and forestry to climate change. There is also a FAO guide on how to include both forestry and agroforestry in National Adaptation Plans. EURAF suggests that the Adaptation Plans of Czechia, France, Italy and Slovakia are examples of good practice, and provides guidance for other countries on how they can include agroforestry measures related to i) improved carbon sequestration; ii) reduced soil erosion, increased fertility and resource use efficiency; iii) greater resistance to droughts and floods; iv) diversified landscapes and biodiversity; v) reduced pest and disease pressure; vi) maintained crop yields and animal welfare; vii) increased resilience to extreme events - including wildfires and storms; viii) improved economic diversity and benefits; and ix) reduced groundwater and air pollution.EURAF Policy Briefing #2

Estrategias de Comunicación y Nivel de Ventas en el Centro Comercial Mega Centro Huancayo 2018

En el desarrollo de la investigación se estableció, un aspecto fundamental; que es la determinación del problema, ¿Cuál es la relación de las Estrategias de Comunicación con el Nivel de Ventas en el Centro Comercial Mega Centro Huancayo 2018?, basado en las evidencias observadas y recogidas en relación a las fuentes de información; esto conllevo a establecer el objetivo general: “Determinar la relación entre las Estrategias de Comunicación con el Nivel de Ventas en el Centro Comercial Mega Centro Huancayo 2018, el sentido fundamental fue generar información que conllevo, primero se estableció el nivel de relación de estrategias de comunicación y que su valor pudo ser de utilidad para mejorar las ventas en dicha organización; por lo mismo se estableció el desarrollo de la investigación en el nivel correlacional y diseño no experimental de corte transversal; y siendo la técnica el uso de la encuesta, y posteriormente al desarrollar la prueba de la hipótesis con el estadístico Rho de Spearman; siendo los resultados de un nivel de coeficiente de correlación igual a 0,648**, siendo el valor de un nivel de correlación positiva media; y considerando la significancia bilateral encontrada, igual a 0,000, se desarrolla la medición con la propuesta del P valor y siendo el resultado obtenido menor al alpha, entonces permitió rechazar la hipótesis nula y aceptar la hipótesis alterna, siendo este resultado generador de establecer la importancia de las estrategias de comunicación en el incremento de las ventas

Efectos que produce el tipo de facturación en las empresas mypes asesoradas por el Estudio Contable A&C de las actividades comerciales de venta de bienes y prestación de servicios

En la tesis se estableció como objetivo analizar los efectos que produce el tipo de facturación en las empresas MYPEs asesoradas por el Estudio Contable A&C de las actividades comerciales de venta de bienes y prestación de servicios. Asimismo, con un enfoque cuantitativo de nivel descriptivo, haciendo uso del método analítico y con el diseño no experimental con corte transversal, con el instrumento de recolección de datos la guía de análisis documental, la misma que fue aplicada a la población es 30 empresas MYPEs asesoradas por el Estudio Contable A&C. Respecto a los resultados, las empresas MYPEs asesoradas por el Estudio Contable A&C incrementaron sus ingresos después de implementar la facturación electrónica. Se llegó a concluir que los efectos son el incremento de los ingresos, inversión en la compra de equipos de cómputo, contrata de personal dedicado al manejo del sistema de emisión de comprobantes y eso se refleja en el incremento de pago de impuesto de la renta e I.G.V., con lo cual se observa un sincesarimiento en los ingresos de las empresas
