The present investigation reviews the political and philosophical discourse of Modernity, from a critic perspective, specially its influence on fundamental rights and their universal titularity. The authors propose the notion of difference as an epistemological complement for the modern comprehension on rights, from the material perspective that determines it exercise. This critic exploration aims to a reconstruction of fundamental rights theory, from certain materialism of difference and subalternity theory, which considers this condition in their exercise, especially guaranteeing equality among social groups whose identity configures from difference, like immigrants.
Variability in presentation and management of gastric volvulus: report of 3 cases
Gastric volvulus is a pathology of acute or subacute presentation. Depending on the type, a gastric volvulus can present as an emergency if there is vascular compromise with necrosis and high risk of perforation and its surgical resolution is mandatory. Subacute gastric volvulus does not compromise the organ or organism urgently but is associated with high morbidity and should be resolved when the patient is in optimal conditions to offer definitive treatment. Depending on the torsion axis, it is classified as axial or mesenteroaxial organ, both merit reduction according to their presentation and the clinical context of the patient.
The effects of DNA methylation and histone deacetylase inhibitors upon the human papillomavirus early genes expression in cervical cancer. An in vitro and clinical study
BACKGROUND: The methylation status at the human papilloma virus (HPV) genome found in pre-invasive and invasive cervical lesions suggests that neoplastic transformation can be suppressed by gene hypermethylation, whereas hypomethylation accompanies or causes cancer progression; hence, epigenetic therapy aimed at reactivating cellular suppressor-gene expression has the potential to act as a tumor promoter by enhancing HPV oncoprotein expression in HPV-related malignancies. The objective of this study was to determine the influence of hydralazine and valproate on HPV oncogene expression in cervical cancer cell lines and the primary tumors of patients undergoing treatment with hydralazine and valproate. RESULTS: Overall, hydralazine and valproate either alone or combined exerted a growth inhibitory effect on cervical cancer cell lines. A cell line-specific up-regulating effect was observed on E6/E7 gene expression, which in general correlated with DNA hypomethylation and histone acetylation at the long control region (LCR). Nonetheless, E6/E7 expression was unchanged or decreased in the majority of patients with cervical cancer treated with hydralazine, valproate, or both. In some cervical cancer cell lines, these drugs led to increased transcription of p53, and increased its stabilization due to acetylation at lysines 273 and 282, which allowed a higher bax-protein transactivating effect. CONCLUSION: The results of this study demonstrate that hydralazine and valproate can be safely administered to HPV-related malignancies such as cervical cancer because they do not increase viral oncoprotein expression. Most importantly, the antitumor effect of hydralazine and valproate in cervical cancer may at least partially depend on an up-regulating effect on p53 gene and on the valproate-induced hyperacetylation of p53 protein, protecting it from degradation by E6
Circulation Weather types as a key factor on runoff initation and sediment detachment in mediterranean shrublands
In this research, the circulation weather types (CWTs) associated with individual surface pressure data at different atmospheric heights were used to correlate and quantify soil erosion events collecting soil loss (g m-2), runoff (l m-2) and sediment concentration (g L-1) using field plots and sediment collectors. RepresentativeMediterranean shrubland, located at Sierra de Enguera (Eastern Spain), was used as a case study where 213 rainfallepisodes and related soil loss events were recorded for the 2010-2014 period. Average annual precipitation of 544mm was registered, summarizing a total of 2,720.1 mm for the five years of the research period. A total of 34.4%of the registered precipitation events ranged from 10 to 29.9 mm, 23.5% from 30 to 49.9 mm, and 15.9% from 50to 99.9 mm. The dynamic low-pressure with fronts (DLp+f) CWT was found to generate the highest precipitationamount reaching 60.6% of the total precipitation (105 of the 213 events). Over a third (35%) of the precipitationevents occurred during Eastern CWT, which accounted for 48% of the total precipitation with average values of17.6 mm per event. From the total runoff, 65.6% was related to the combined Eastern and cold drops (CD) CWT.The DLp+f CWT was found to produce 48.9% of sediment mobilization, of which 73.5% of this amount wasgenerated by Eastern CWT. The highest sediment concentration event was found for the southern CWT underthermal low-pressure (TLp) reaching 51.65 g L-1, followed by A (anticyclones) with the Eastern CWT (42.23 g L-1).As a whole, the southern is the CWT generating the highest average sediment concentration (28.66 g L-1), followedby Easter CWT. Our findings suggest that CWTs contribute to foreseeing the periods with the highest soil lossesand may help to prevent them. We discuss the need to analyse the changes in soil erosion rates due to CWT tobetter characterize the soil erosion process and assess the soil erosion rates, improve the current soil erosion modelsand investigate how climate change is changing the role CWT plays in runoff initiation and sediment delivery
Secondary phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) swelling response is a good indicator of T-cell-mediated immunity in free-living birds
The validity of using the phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) test to measure acquired immunity, one of the most widely used methods, is currently being debated due to new knowledge on the complex physiology of the process. As a greater secondary response to repeated challenges linked to increases of circulating lymphocyte levels would be indicative of a T-cell-mediated immune response, we performed for the first time an experiment under natural conditions with repeated PHA challenges in free-living adult birds and chicks to shed light on this topic. We found significantly stronger secondary response to PHA injection independent of sex or age, while controlling for body condition, the second response being on average 90% larger than the first. Likewise, lymphocyte counts were significantly higher in the second PHA challenge, whereas no significant differences were found among untreated birds. Significant positive correlations between the PHA response and both lymphocyte counts and plasma protein levels (mainly albumin, globulin (precursor) were recovered, whereas no significant differences were recovered in plasma protein levels between challenges. Our results are consistent with those from captive birds, supporting the validity of the PHA skin-swelling test as an accurate gauge of acquired T-cell-mediated immunity in birds.

AbstractDynamics is an essential issue in any engineering program. In that concern Coriolis acceleration, eventhough that it has been widely addressed in many textbooks and technical papers, represents a challenging topic to teach. Consequently, undergraduate students undergo troubles to understand the connection between the mathematical expressions and the physical meaning of the phenomenon. This is due to the fact that usually the Coriolis acceleration is briefly explained based on rotating frames of reference and one noninertial frame, e.g., in typical textbooks the Coriolis acceleration is derived and explained in only two pages. The method exposed in the contribution is more general and can be easily extended to higher-order kinematic analyses of rigid body owing that it is based on simple time derivatives of vectors relating bodies in general motionKeywords: Acceleration, Bound vector, Coriolis, Free vector, Kinematics, Teaching/Learning

Quantic Analysis of the Adherence of a Gram-Negative Bacteria in A HEPA Filter
It is known that Gram-negative bacteria (GNB) are the most frequent bacteria in hospital units. It is also known that GNBs generate a greater number of nosocomial infections in critical areas. In the present work, the adhesion of the bacterial cell wall (BCW) to the compounds of the material layers of a high efficiency filter (HEPA) was analyzed. The analysis was carried out by means of molecular simulation and quantum chemistry. The BCW and HEPA molecules were designed using Hyperchem software for simulation. The calculations of the quantum interactions of the molecules were carried out using the theory of the electron transfer coefficient (ETC). It obtained from 4 to 6 compounds that are more likely to interact even as a chemical reaction. The compounds of the glass fibers are the ones that work best for the adhesion and destruction of the BCW
