De todo lo visible y lo invisible o volver a pensar la investigación en humanidades digitales

¿Qué significa hacer investigación en Humanidades Digitales? ¿Se trata de crear y ofrecer recursos en abierto para el público académico y/o una serie de interesantes reflexiones teóricas sobre el impacto de lo digital en la investigación? ¿Se trata de ambas cosas, alguna o ninguna? ¿Cómo deberían pensar quienes intervienen hoy en este campo? El artículo busca dar una posible explicación a estas preguntas y propone abrir una reflexión metodológica desde ciertos objetos y conceptos que podrían arrojar luz sobre las posibilidades de trabajo en Humanidades Digitales.What does it mean to do research in Digital Humanities? Is it just about creating and offering online tools or resources for academics and/or some interesting theories and reflections about the digital impact on research? Is it about both, one or any of them? How should digital humanists think? Equity in Digital Access and Digital Humanities in Latin America

Over the past ten years, and due to many different reasons, we have witnessed the emergence of a global community interested in the Digital Humanities. But, what do we mean when we say ‘global’? Global and globalization belong to the same word family: the term ‘global’ refers both to the processes and to the results of globalization, and what we call globalization is always the successful globalization of one particular localism (De Sousa Santos, 2012). Evidently, at the same time something global expands, it excludes. In the Digital Humanities, conferences, maps, programs and publications aim to establish a global community, using technology as a key element capable of bringing together researchers from different latitudes. A techno-utopic discourse, in which technology is neutral and can itself unilaterally solve many social problems (Mboa 2020), has been part of the development of DH tools and projects. However, a weighted reflection on who holds the power in the scholarly communications ecosystem and how it can reinforce cognitive capitalism (Moulier Boutang, 2007) is still needed: Digital Humanities replicate these inequities. When TEI Verse becomes linked data: using TEI tags as a model to build a linked poetry system

The Text Encoding initiative is conceived as a standard system designed to let interoperability between different projects working on analogous topics. However, interoperability is sometimes not easy to reach due to the different interpretation of tags made by each project or group. Given the variety of tags, there are several concepts that can be easily identified for many projects, such as <msIdentifier> or <incipit>, which referent is pretty clear and recognizable. There are some other tags, however, which can experience multiple interpretations, limited by the content of the attributes that modify them

Digital humanities under the lens: open research and scientific evaluation

Tanto para las Digital Humanities como para las Humanidades Digitales, el core de la investigación son los proyectos que se expresan a través de repositorios y bases de datos, ediciones digitales académicas, blogs, o bibliotecas digitales disponibles, en su amplísima mayoría, de forma gratuita y online. La investigación abierta parece haber nacido con las Digital Humanities, aunque poco se haya hablado hasta ahora de ella. Una evaluación adecuada y equitativa de la investigación científica en Humanidades Digitales colaborará con la construcción del campo científico y el nuevo paradigma del conocimiento en la que estas se imbrican, como la de la investigación o ciencia abierta.Both for the Digital Humanities and for the Humanidades Digitales, the core of the research are the projects that are expressed through repositories and databases, academic digital editions, blogs, or digital libraries available, in their vast majority, free of charge and online. Open research seems to have been born with the Digital Humanities, although little has been said about it until now. In Which Languages Are We Citing When We Write about Humanidades Digitales?

Es cada vez más habitual leer trabajos de investigadores de múltiples disciplinas acerca de la prevalencia del idioma inglés como lingua franca en la publicación académica y apuntando a una discriminación lingüística por parte de revisores o editores científicos. Estos problemas también pueden identificarse en el campo de las Humanidades Digitales a escala global. Pero ¿publicamos los humanistas digitales hispanohablantes en nuestras lenguas cuando se nos presenta la oportunidad? ¿Y citamos a nuestros colegas lingüísticos?A través de un abordaje meta-analítico acerca de la geopolítica y el multilingüismo en las HD anglófonas e hispanohablantes, examinamos 9580 referencias bibliográficas contenidas en 510 artículos científicos publicados entre 2014 y 2021. Queremos así llamar la atención sobre las prácticas de comunicación y difusión del conocimiento en una comunidad con una gran diversidad sociocultural, lingüística y geopolítica, mostrando la desigualdad en la cantidad de citas de trabajos sobre HD en lenguas diferentes al inglés.It is increasingly common to read papers by researchers from multiple disciplines about the prevalence of the English language as the lingua franca in academic publishing, which also point to linguistic discrimination by reviewers or scientific editors. These problems can also be identified in the field of the Digital Humanities on a global scale. But do we, Spanish-speaking digital humanists, publish in our languages when the opportunity presents itself? And are we quoting our linguistic colleagues? Through a meta-analytic approach about the geopolitics and multilingualism in the English and Spanish-speaking DH field, we examine 9580 bibliographic references contained in 510 scientific articles published between 2014 and 2021. We want to draw attention to the communication and dissemination practices of knowledge in a community with great sociocultural, linguistic and geopolitical diversity, showing inequality in the number of citations of works on HD in languages other than English.Fil: del Rio, María Gimena.
