    Propuesta metodológica para la evaluación de la calidad deontológica de las noticias sobre violencias contra las mujeres

    La producción académica sobre el tratamiento periodístico de la violencia contra las mujeres en España ha aumentado de forma importante durante las últimas décadas. Sin embargo, a pesar de las variadas recomendaciones sobre cómo abordar desde la ética y la responsabilidad este reto informativo, no existe aún una herramienta que compile y clarifique los criterios deontológicos y ayude a la labor periodística en la redacción de estas noticias. Partiendo del conocido como periodismo de calidad, en este trabajo se ha realizado un estudio sobre los diferentes documentos deontológicos existentes a partir de los cuales se propone una herramienta analítica para evaluar la calidad de las noticias sobre las violencias que sufren las mujeres. La potencialidad de esta herramienta radica, entre otras cuestiones, en la capacidad para evaluar tanto previa como posteriormente la adecuación ética de las noticias a los consensos establecidos con el objetivo de contribuir a la mejora de la comunicación pública de este problema coadyuvando a su erradicación.Over the last decades there has been a significant increase in the academic literature focused on the journalistic approach about violence against women in Spain. However, and despite the wide-ranging recommendations on how to tackle this challenge in information, there is no tool that gathers and explains the ethical criteria and helps journalists in their work of drafting a news release. On the basis of what is known as quality journalism, this paper studies the different existing documents on codes of conduct in order to develop an analytical tool which assesses the quality of news concerning violence against women. The potential of this tool lies, among other issues, in the capacity to evaluate, both before and after, the ethical appropriateness to the public consensus so as to enhance the communication of this problem to the public and, thereby, contribute to stop it

    NIRS technology has been used as an alternative to conventional methods to determinate the content of nutrients of acorns and grass from dehesa ecosystem. Dry matter (DM), crude fat (CF), crude protein (CP), starch, total phenolic compounds (TP), α-tocopherol, γ-tocopherol, fatty acids, neutral detergent fiber (NDF), total antioxidant activity (TAA) and total energy (TE) were determined by conventional methods for later development of NIRS predictive equations. The NIR spectrum of each sample was collected and for all studied parameters, a predictive model was obtained and external validated. Good prediction equations were obtained for moisture, crude fat, crude protein, total energy and γ-tocopherol in acorns samples, with high coefficients of correlation (1-VR) and low standard error of prediction (SEP) (1-VR=0.81, SEP=2.62; 1-VR=0.92, SEP=0.54; 1-VR=0.86, SEP=0.47; 1-VR=0.84, SEP=0.2; 1-VR=0.88, SEP=5.4, respectively) and crude protein, NDF, α-tocopherol and linolenic acid content in grass samples (1-VR=0.9, SEP=1.99; 1-VR=0.87, SEP=4.13; 1-VR=0.76, SEP=10.9; 1-VR=0.82, SEP=0.6, respectively).     Variability of early autumn planktonic assemblages in the strait of Gibraltar: a regionalization analysis

    The Strait of Gibraltar (SG) is the only connection of the Mediterranean Sea with the global circulation. The SG is an outstanding marine region to explore physical-biological coupling of pelagic communities due to its hydrodynamic complexity, including strong tidal forcing and marked spatial gradients and fronts. The authors have unravelled the role of the fortnightly tidal scale (spring and neap tides) and local processes (upwelling and tidal-topographic mixing) that shape planktonic assemblages in the Strait. To do so, an oceanographic cruise was taken in early autumn 2008 with a high-resolution grid sampling and spring/neap tidal conditions. The planktonic features were captured using different automatic and semi-automatic techniques of plankton analyses (flow cytometry, FlowCAM, LOPC and Ecotaxa) that allowed covering a wide range of sizes of the community from pico- to mesoplankton. The SG was sectorized into two clusters based on the biogeochemical and main water column properties. Cluster 1 (CL1) covered shallow productive areas around Cape Trafalgar (CT). CL1 presented higher concentrations of chlorophyll and nutrients, and phytoplankton was mostly represented by Synechococcus and coastal diatoms while zooplankton had the highest percentage of meroplankton (31%). In contrast, cluster 2 (CL2) covered open ocean waters and presented more oligotrophic features, i.e. nitrogen-depleted waters with lower chlorophyll concentrations and a picoplankton community dominated by Prochlorococcus and holoplankton predominance in mesozooplankton. Under early autumn conditions with overall nutrient-depleted and stratified waters, the CT area emerges as an ecosystem where the constant tidal mixing and nutrients supply is coupled with an active production also being favored by high residence times and finally shaping a plankton community with unique features in the area.En prensa0,56

    Boron-doped diamond by 9 MeV microbeam implantation: Damage and recovery

    Diamond properties can be tuned by doping and ion-beam irradiation is one of the most powerful techniques to do it in a controlled way, but it also produces damage and other aftereffects. Of particular interest is boron doping which, in moderate concentrations, causes diamond to become a p-type semiconductor and, at higher boron concentrations, a superconductor. Nevertheless, the preparation of superconducting boron-doped diamond by ion implantation is hampered by amorphization and subsequent graphitization after annealing. The aim of this work was to explore the possibility of creating boron-doped diamond superconducting regions and to provide a new perspective on the damage induced in diamond by MeV ion irradiation. Thus, a comprehensive analysis of the damage and eventual recovery of diamond when irradiated with 9 MeV B ions with different fluences has been carried out, combining Raman, photoluminescence, electrical resistivity, X-ray diffraction and Rutherford Backscattering/Ion-channeling. It is found that, as the B fluence increases, carbon migrates to interstitial sites outside of the implantation path and an amorphous fraction increases within the path. For low fluences (∼1015 ions/cm2), annealing at 1000 °C is capable to fully recovering the diamond structure without graphitization. However, for higher fluences (≥5 × 1016 ions/cm2), those required for superconductivity, the recovery is important, but some disorder still remains. For high fluences, annealing at 1200 °C is detrimental for the diamond lattice and graphite traces appear.     Trifaceted Mickey Mouse Amphiphiles for Programmable Self-Assembly, DNA Complexation and Organ-Selective Gene Delivery

    Instilling segregated cationic and lipophilic domains with an angular disposition in a trehalose-based trifaceted macrocyclic scaffold allows engineering patchy molecular nanoparticles leveraging directional interactions that emulate those controlling self-assembling processes in viral capsids. The resulting trilobular amphiphilic derivatives, featuring a Mickey Mouse architecture, can electrostatically interact with plasmid DNA (pDNA) and further engage in hydrophobic contacts to promote condensation into transfectious nanocomplexes. Notably, the topology and internal structure of the cyclooligosaccharide/pDNA co-assemblies can be molded by fine-tuning the valency and characteristics of the cationic and lipophilic patches, which strongly impacts the transfection efficacy in vitro and in vivo. Outstanding organ selectivities can then be programmed with no need of incorporating a biorecognizable motif in the formulation.     Enhanced Gene Delivery Triggered by Dual pH/Redox Responsive Host-Guest Dimerization of Cyclooligosaccharide Star Polycations

    A robust strategy is reported to build perfectly monodisperse star polycationscombining a trehalose-based cyclooligosaccharide (cyclotrehalan, CT) centralcore onto which oligoethyleneimine radial arms are installed. Thearchitectural perfection of the compounds is demonstrated by a variety ofphysicochemical techniques, including NMR, MS, DLS, TEM, and GPC. Key tothe strategy is the possibility of customizing the cavity size of the macrocyclicplatform to enable/prevent the inclusion of adamantane motifs. Theseproperties can be taken into advantage to implement sequential levels ofstimuli responsiveness by combining computational design, precisionchemistry and programmed host-guest interactions. Specifically, it is shownthat supramolecular dimers implying a trimeric CT-tetraethyleneimine starpolycation and purposely designed bis-adamantane guests are preorganizedto efficiently complex plasmid DNA (pDNA) into transfection-competentnanocomplexes. The stability of the dimer species is responsive to theprotonation state of the cationic clusters, resulting in dissociation at acidicpH. This process facilitates endosomal escape, but reassembling can takeplace in the cytosol then handicapping pDNA nuclear import.     A fuzzy approach for feature extraction of brain tissues in Non-Contrast CT

    In neuroimaging, brain tissue segmentation is a fundamental part of the techniques that seek to automate the detection of pathologies, the quantification of tissues or the evaluation of the progress of a treatment. Because of its wide availability, lower cost than other imaging techniques, fast execution and proven efficacy, Non-contrast Cerebral Computerized Tomography (NCCT) is the most used technique in emergency room for neuroradiology examination, however, most research on brain segmentation focuses on MRI due to the inherent difficulty of brain tissue segmentation in NCCT. In this work, three brain tissues were characterized: white matter, gray matter and cerebrospinal fluid in NCCT images. Feature extraction of these structures was made based on the radiological attenuation index denoted by the Hounsfield Units using fuzzy logic techniques. We evaluated the classification of each tissue in NCCT images and quantified the feature extraction technique in images from real tissues with a sensitivity of 92% and a specificity of 96% for images from cases with slice thickness of 1 mm, and 96% and 98% respectively for those of 1.5 mm, demonstrating the ability of the method as feature extractor of brain tissues.Postprint (published version

    Modulating effect of instructions on an event-based prospective memory task

    El paradigma de memoria prospectiva basado en eventos consta de una tarea de fondo y otra prospectiva. Las instrucciones permiten modular la importancia dada a la tarea prospectiva respecto de la de fondo, con el peligro de restar sensibilidad a la prueba por la baja o alta tasa de recuerdo, o producir un cambio de paradigma (atención dividida). Con el propósito de modular la tasa de recuerdo sin incurrir en estos problemas, se analizó el efecto de las variables etiqueta (nombre de la tarea) y formato (color del texto) sobre la tasa de recuerdo. La variable etiqueta tuvo un efecto signifi cativo sobre el rendimiento de los sujetos (incremento del 17.20%), sin afectar a la sensibilidad de la prueba ni producir un cambio de paradigma. Se discuten los resultados dentro de la Teoría de los procesos atencionales preparatorios y de memoria (pam), así como su aplicabilidad en diferentes ámbitos

    HiPER is the European Project for Laser Fusion that has been able to join 26 institutions and signed under formal government agreement by 6 countries inside the ESFRI Program of the European Union (EU). The project is already extended by EU for two years more (until 2013) after its first preparatory phase from 2008. A large work has been developed in different areas to arrive to a design of repetitive operation of Laser Fusion Reactor, and decisions are envisioned in the next phase of Technology Development or Risk Reduction for Engineering or Power Plant facilities (or both). Chamber design has been very much completed for Engineering phase and starting of preliminary options for Reactor Power Plant have been established and review here
