A totality of 50 non cemented hip prosthesis with a self blocking model 3V stemand, tri-spiked impactation acetabulum and head of ceramic (Zicronium) are revised on 47 patients, the average of following was of 11 years and 4 months. Special attention has been played clinically to pain, to daily out in these yeats, having allowed as to obtain 98% of good and excellent results in some patients to whom the prosthesis was implanted at an average age of 58, 76,5% of them led active of very life. We propose a classification to evaluate radiologycally the anteversion of the prosthesic cups. It has not been noticed any wear in the polyethylene of any. The percentage of survival after aseptic loosening of the stems and spikes was of 100%. The aim of this study is to validate and adapt to the Spanish context of Physical Education (PE) the State Mindfulness Scale (SMS). The study included 1428 students aged 13–19. In order to analyse the psychometric properties of the SMS, an exploratory factorial analysis was carried out to confirm the presence of two factors, a confirmatory factorial analysis that has offered support for both the structure of two factors. We also included an analysis of temporal stability, an analysis of invariance across gender, an analysis of internal consistency and an analysis of predictive validity through a t-test in which mental health (β = −0.28, p < 0.001) and physical or bodily experience (β = −0.16, p < 0.001) negatively predicted anxiety, respectively. The structure of the questionnaire was valid and reliable, gender-neutral and with adequate levels of temporal stability

The prosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a complication with multiple risk factors described. We pro - pose to analyze if the hour of start time of surgery may be a risk for developing PJI. Materials and methods. We retrospectively analyze known risk factors in patients who underwent implantation of knee or hip arthroplasty in Principe de Asturias Hospital from January 2010 to December 2010 and the time of performance of the sur - gery. Results. During the study period 362 surgeries were analyzed, of which 19 developed PJI (incidence 5,2%). Logistic regression analysis showed more frequency of PJI incidence in surgeries started between 12 and 14pm (odds ratio [OR] 3,4; confidence interval [CI] 95% 1,1 to 11,3, p=0,04) and less frequent between 8 and 10 am (OR 0,2, CI 95% 0,04 to 0,91, p=0,04). Conclusion. In our study the patients undergoing surgery at the end of the morning had a threefold increased risk of developing PJI, while early surgery was a protective facto

Objective: develop a fast, practical and economical methodology for the determination of plants with HLB symptoms, by exploring the potential use of Sentinel-2 satellite images. Design/methodology/approach: Sentinel-2 images were used to perform a supervised classification to discriminate healthy Persian lime trees and trees with HLB molecularly verified by qPCR, as well as other land uses in the citrus growing area of Huimanguillo, Tabasco. Results: The results showed that in the green (560nm), red (665 nm) and near infrared (705 nm) band regions the spectral response of trees with HLB is higher than that of healthy trees. An area of 26.96 and 12 981 hectares of Persian lime affected and free of HLB was found, respectively, with an accuracy of 0.84 % and a Kappa coefficient of 0.83. Field verification corroborated three plantations in which plants with HLB were previously detected and are currently in production. Limitations on study/implications: The study was carried out in the period of less cloud cover, as this is a limiting factor for the analysis of the image since it can lead to inadequate tracking of the affected area. Findings/conclusions: The results showed that using Sentinel-2 satellite images, it is possible to differentiate Persian lemon plants affected by HLB from healthy plants. Objective: Develop a fast, practical, and inexpensive methodology for determining plants with HLB symptoms by exploring the potential use of Sentinel-2 satellite images. Effect of Preventive Chlamydia abortus Vaccination in Offspring Development in Sheep Challenged Experimentally

Ovine enzootic abortion, caused by Chlamydia abortus, leads to important economic losses worldwide. In addition to reproductive failures, infection may impact lamb growth during the first weeks after birth, yet this effect has not been well characterized. Vaccination can help to control the disease but variable efficacy values have been described, possibly related with factors associated with the host, the vaccine, the parameter used for efficacy determination and the challenge conditions. In this context, we evaluated the efficacy of an inactivated standard commercial vaccine and a 1/2 diluted dose in pregnant sheep challenged with C. abortus by examining multiple indicators ofvaccine effect (including incidence of reproductive failures, bacterial excretion, and evolution of weight gain of viable lambs during the first month of life). Three groups of ewes [control non-vaccinated, C (n = 18); vaccinated with standard dose, SV (n = 16) and vaccinated with 1/2 dose, DV (n = 17)], were challenged approximately 90 days post-mating and tested using direct PCR (tissue samples and vaginal swabs) and ELISA (serum) until 31 days post-reproductive outcome. There were not significant differences in the proportions of reproductive failures or bacterial shedding after birth/abortion regardless the vaccination protocol. However, a beneficial effect of vaccination on offspring growth was detected in both vaccinated groups compared with the controls, with a mean increase in weight measured at 30 days of life of 1.5 and 2.5 Kg (p = 0.056) and an increase in the geometric mean of the daily gain of 8.4 and 9.7% in lambs born from DV and SV ewes compared to controls, respectively. Our results demonstrate the effect of an inactivated vaccine in the development of the offspring of C. abortus-infected ewes at a standard and a diluted dose, an interesting finding given the difficulty in achieving sufficient antigen concentration in the production of EAE-commercial vaccines

Web-GIS approach to preventive conservation of heritage buildings

The effective implementation of preventive conservation approaches demands the employment of standardized and robust tools able to integrate the data coming from multiple sources, inspection and diagnosis techniques, as well as to ensure the proper information transfer between expert and non-expert users. Aiming to make a step forward in the state of the art of current conservation approaches, a cutting edge Web-GIS technology resorting to the intuitiveness of 360° panoramas and 3D point clouds in combination with the Internet of Things is presented in this work, demonstrating how physical and digital worlds can be linked for proper documentation and management of cultural heritage. To validate such a pioneering approach, one of the most representative and complex heritage buildings of Spain is used as a case study: the General Historical Library of Salamanca. This work was financed by ERDF funds through the V Sudoe Interreg program within the framework of the HeritageCare project (Ref. SOE1/P5/P0258), by project Patrimonio 5.0 (SA075P17), by FEDER funds through the Competitive Factors Operational Program (COMPETE) and by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) within the scope of projects POCI-01-0145-FEDER-007633. The authors would like to express their gratitude to the personnel from the General Historical Library of the University of Salamanca as well as to the Centre for Computer Graphics of the University of Minho for the web implementation of the platform

Noise-Sustained currents in quasigeostrophic turbulence over topography

We study the development of mean structures in a nonlinear model of large scale ocean dynamics with bottom topography and dissipation, and forced with a noise term. We show that the presence of noise in this nonlinear model leads to persistent average currents directed along isobaths. At variance with previous works we use a scale unselective dissipation, so that the phenomenon can not be explained in terms of minimum enstrophy states. The effect requires the presence of both the nonlinear and the random terms, and can be though of as an ordering of the stochastic energy input by the combined effect of nonlinearity and topography. The statistically steady state is well described by a generalized canonical equilibrium with mean energy and enstrophy determined by a balance between random forcing and dissipation. This result allows predicting the strengh of the noise-sustained currents. Finally we discuss the relevance that these noise-induced currents could have on real ocean circulation.Comment: 11 pages REVTeX. Includes 4 figures using epsf.
