Using the Gephi software to represent social networks, perceptions to Mathematics and its teaching of a group of 196 students of the Primary Education degree were stud-ied, who were asked to narrate their experience as stu-dents. From the texts obtained, representations in form of networks of the categories of analysis found were created in an automated way, highlighting the most important and the interrelationships between them. The analysis of the networks allowed identifying the conceptions and feelings group's about Mathematics and their expectations as future teachers, in which they highlighted their experiences with good and bad teachers. This is a novel research in educational research, of which there is little comparable background, in which social network analysis software is used for text analysis and the representation of large amounts of qualitative data.

    Get PDF
Several studies argue that the role of service quality is essential to achieve success and competitive advantage in business because it improves brand image and profits. However, the research and correct measurement of service quality in the retail sector is yet to gain the necessary relevance despite the fact that it is one of the fastest growing service sectors in Perú. The aims of this study were through the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis of structural equation models, to explore and assess the SERVPERF model dimensionality, reliability and validity, both convergent and discriminant, and its applicability in the fashion and sports equipment retail sector in Metropolitan Lima. Bearing in mind that the SERVQUAL model is the most widely disseminated and applied model for measuring service quality. In addition, using regression models, determine the service quality impact and significance of each and every one of the five dimensions of the model proposed by Cronin and Taylor. The SERVPERF model is based on 22 variables grouped into five dimensions that includes Tangibility, Reliability, Responsiveness, Security and Empathy. The findings confirm that the SERVPERF instrument is a valid tool to measure service quality. In turn, the positive and significant impact of each and every one of the dimensions of the model was determined; Reliability and Empathy dimensions had the greatest impact on sectors service quality. Finally, useful insights are provided for the leaders of NIKE, ADIDAS and PUMA in order to improve the service quality level awarded in Metropolitan Lima physical stores

Suppression of Coulomb-nuclear interference in the near-barrier elastic scattering of 17 Ne from 208 Pb

    Get PDF
The proton drip-line nucleus 17Ne is considered a good candidate for a Borromean two-proton halo with a 15O + p+ pstructure. Angular distributions of the elastic scattering and inclusive 15O production for a 136 MeV 17Ne beam incident on a 208Pb target were measured for the first time at the SPIRAL1 facility, GANIL. Use of the GLORIA detector array allowed high-resolution data over a wide angular range from 20◦up to 95◦in the laboratory frame to be obtained. The elastic scattering angular distribution shows similarities with those for both 6He and 20Ne at equivalent collision energies with respect to the corresponding Coulomb barriers, exhibiting the suppression of the Coulomb rainbow peak characteristic of strong coupling. Optical model and coupled channel fits suggest that this is due to a combination of coupling to low-lying quadrupole resonances and Coulomb dipole coupling to the low-lying continuum, although their relative importance depends on the relevant B(E2)values which remain to be firmly determined

Mycobacterium tuberculosis Shikimate Kinase Inhibitors: Design and Simulation Studies of the Catalytic Turnover

    Get PDF
Shikimate kinase (SK) is an essential enzyme in several pathogenic bacteria and does not have any counterpart in human cells, thus making it an attractive target for the development of new antibiotics. The key interactions of the substrate and product binding and the enzyme movements that are essential for catalytic turnover of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis shikimate kinase enzyme (Mt-SK) have been investigated by structural and computational studies. Based on these studies several substrate analogs were designed and assayed. The crystal structure of Mt-SK in complex with ADP and one of the most potent inhibitors has been solved at 2.15 Å. These studies reveal that the fixation of the diaxial conformation of the C4 and C5 hydroxyl groups recognized by the enzyme or the replacement of the C3 hydroxyl group in the natural substrate by an amino group is a promising strategy for inhibition because it causes a dramatic reduction of the flexibility of the LID and shikimic acid binding domains. Molecular dynamics simulation studies showed that the product is expelled from the active site by three arginines (Arg117, Arg136, and Arg58). This finding represents a previously unknown key role of these conserved residues. These studies highlight the key role of the shikimic acid binding domain in the catalysis and provide guidance for future inhibitor designsFinancial support from ́ the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (SAF2010-15076 to CGB and BFU2011-24843 to M.J.vR.) and the Xunta de Galicia (10PXIB2200122PR and GRC2010/ 12) is gratefully acknowledged. Prognostic Value of D-dimer to Lymphocyte Ratio (DLR) in Hospitalized Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Patients: A Validation Study in a National Cohort

Background: This study aimed to validate the role of the D-dimer to lymphocyte ratio (DLR) for mortality prediction in a large national cohort of hospitalized coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. Methods: A retrospective, multicenter, observational study that included hospitalized patients due to SARS-CoV-2 infection in Spain was conducted from March 2020 to March 2022. All biomarkers and laboratory indices analyzed were measured once at admission. Results: A total of 10,575 COVID-19 patients were included in this study. The mean age of participants was 66.9 (+/- 16) years, and 58.6% (6202 patients) of them were male. The overall mortality rate was 16.3% (n = 1726 patients). Intensive care unit admission was needed in 10.5% (n = 1106 patients), non-invasive mechanical ventilation was required in 8.8% (n = 923 patients), and orotracheal intubation was required in 7.5% (789 patients). DLR presented a c-statistic of 0.69 (95% CI, 0.68-0.71) for in-hospital mortality with an optimal cut-off above 1. Multivariate analysis showed an independent association for in-hospital mortality for DLR > 1 (adjusted OR 2.09, 95% CI 1.09-4.04; p = 0.03); in the same way, survival analysis showed a higher mortality risk for DLR > 1 (HR 2.24; 95% CI 2.03-2.47; p < 0.01). Further, no other laboratory indices showed an independent association for mortality in multivariate analysis. Conclusions: This study confirmed the usefulness of DLR as a prognostic biomarker for mortality associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection, being an accessible, cost-effective, and easy-to-use biomarker in daily clinical practice
