Deep inelastic scattering of electrons by tensor polarized deuteron. Contribution of elastic radiative tail
The model-independent part of the radiative corrections, due to the hard-photon emission from the lepton vertex in the elastic electron-deuteron scattering (the so-called elastic radiative tail), has been calculated to the deep inelastic scattering of the electron beam on the deuteron target. The elastic radiative tail has been calculated both for the unpolarized scattering and for the scattering of unpolarized electron beam on the tensor polarized deuteron target.

Manifestation of an excited electron in e⁺e⁻ → γγ reaction
The differential cross section and some polarization observables have been calculated for the e⁺e⁻ → γγ reaction taking into account the contribution of the excited electron. The spin correlation coefficients were calculated for the case when both beams are polarized. We consider two approaches for the excited electron contribution: the eeγγ contact interaction and the exchange of the excited electron in t- and u-channels. Numerical estimations are given for the excited electron contribution to the differential cross section and spin correlation coefficients for various values of the electron beam energy and excited electron mass.Диференціальний переріз та деякі поляризаційні спостережувані обчислені для реакції e⁺e⁻ → γγ з врахуванням внеску збудженого електрона. Model independent analysis of polarization effects in elastic electron deuteron scattering in presence of two--photon exchange
The general spin structure of the matrix element, taking into account the
two--photon exchange contribution, for the elastic electron (positron)
--deuteron scattering has been derived using general symmetry properties of the
hadron electromagnetic interaction, such as P--, C-- and T--invariances as well
as lepton helicity conservation in QED at high energy. Taking into account also
crossing symmetry, the amplitudes of scattering can be parametrized
in terms of fifteen real functions. The expressions for the differential cross
section and for all polarization observables are given in terms of these
functions. We consider the case of an arbitrary polarized deuteron target and
polarized electron beam (both longitudinal and transverse). The transverse
polarization of the electron beam induces a single--spin asymmetry which is
non--zero in presence of two--photon exchange. It is shown that elastic
deuteron electromagnetic form factors can still be extracted in presence of two
photon exchange, from the measurements of the differential cross section and of
one polarization observable (for example, the tensor asymmetry) for electron
and positron deuteron elastic scattering, in the same kinematical conditions.Comment: 28 page
Proton-antiproton annihilation into massive leptons
We extend previous calculations of polarization observables for the
annihilation reaction to the case of heavy
leptons, such as the -lepton. We consider the case when the beam and/or
the target are polarized, as well as the polarization of the outgoing leptons.
We give the dependence of the unpolarized cross section, angular asymmetry, and
various polarization observables on the relevant kinematical variables in the
center of mass and in the laboratory system, with particular attention to the
effect of the mass induced terms.Comment: 25 pages, 8 figure
QED corrections to polarized deep-inelastic and semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering
Leading-log model-independent QED corrections in DIS of unpolarized electron off tensor-polarized deuteron are considered. Same approach was used for investigation of semi-inclusive DIS of electron by nucleus with detection of hadron and scattered electron. Calculations are based on covariant parametrization of polarization and use of Drell-Yan like representation to describe radiation by initial and scattered electron. Applications to polarization transfer from polarized electron to detected hadron and to scattering by polarized target are considered. DIS of unpolarized electron on tensor-polarized deuteron with tagged collinear photon radiated from initial-state electron are investigated
About the possibility to measure the circular polarization of high-energy photon in reaction γ + e⁻ → e⁺ + e⁻ + e⁻
Two possibilities of the measuring high-energy photon circular polarization by means of the process γ + e⁻ → e⁺ + e⁻ + e⁻ are investigated. The first one is connected with the measurement of polarization asymmetry of the cross section when the initial electron beam is longitudinally polarized. The second possibility related with the measurement of the created-positron (or electron) polarization. Just this polarization does not decrease when the photon energy grows up and can be used for effective determination of the photon circular polarization degree.
General analysis of two--photon exchange in elastic electron-- scattering and
Using a general parametrization of the spin structure of the matrix element
for the elastic scattering and for the annihilation reactions in terms of two complex amplitudes, we derive general
properties of the observables in presence of two--photon exchange. We show that
this mechanism induces a specific dependence of the differential cross section
on the angle of the emitted particle. We reanalyze the existing experimental
data on the differential cross section, for elastic electron scattering on
, in the light of this result.Comment: 15 pages 1 figur
Polarization effects in elastic proton-electron scattering
Proton elastic scattering from electrons at rest is calculated in the Born approximation. The interest of this reaction is related to the possibility of polarizing high energy antiproton beam and to high energy proton polarimetry. Relativistically invariant analysis of --isobar production in deuteron electrodisintegration: general analysis of polarization effects
The differential cross section and the polarization observables for --isobar production in the deuteron electrodisintegration process, , are calculated in a general formalism based on structure
functions. The obtained expressions have a general nature, hold for
one--photon--exchange, assuming P--invariance of the electromagnetic
interaction and the conservation of the hadron electromagnetic current. The
dependence of the differential cross section of the
reaction on the vector and tensor polarizations of the deuteron target with
unpolarized and longitudinally polarized electrons is considered. The general
dependence of the asymmetries on two of five kinematic variables, the azimuthal
angle and (linear polarization of the virtual photon) is
calculated. A similar analysis is performed for the polarization of the nucleon
produced in reaction provided the electron beam is
unpolarized or longitudinally polarized. Polarization effects, which are due to
the strong interaction in the final state are calculated. The
photoproduction of the --isobar on the deuteron target has been
considered in detail, as a particular case. The differential cross section and
various polarization observables have been derived in terms of the reaction
amplitudes. The polarization observables due to the linear and circular
polarizations of the photon, when the deuteron target is arbitrarily polarized
have been derived in terms of the reaction amplitudes. The polarization of the
final nucleon is also considered.Comment: 52 page
Relativistically invariant analysis of polarization effects in exclusive deuteron electrodisintegration process
A general formalism for the calculation of the differential cross section and
polarization observables, for the process of deuteron electrodisintegration, is
developed in the framework of relativistic impulse approximation. A detailed
analysis of the general structure of the differential cross section and
polarization observables for the reaction is derived, using
the formalism of the structure functions. The obtained expressions have a
general nature and they hold in the one--photon--exchange mechanism, assuming
P--invariance of the hadron electromagnetic interaction. The model of
relativistic impulse approximation is introduced and the final state
interaction is taken into account by means of the unitarization of the helicity
amplitudes. A detailed description of the unitarization procedure is also
presented.
Using different parametrizations of the deuteron wave functions, the
following polarization observables are calculated in the kinematical region of
quasi--elastic deuteron electrodisintegration: the asymmetry for the scattering
of longitudinally polarized electrons on a polarized deuteron target, the
proton and neutron polarizations (for longitudinally polarized electron beam or
vector--polarized deuteron target). The sensitivity to the neutron electric
form factor is also thorougly investigated.
The predictions of the model are compared with the results of recent
polarization measurements and a good agreement with the existing experimental
data has been obtained.Comment: 90 pages, 17 figure
