Goats : rising systems and trading alternatives
Este trabajo propone caracterizar la producción
caprina del norte y oeste de Córdoba
(Argentina). Para ello analiza diacrónica
y sincrónicamente los datos censales a nivel
provincial y focaliza el relevamiento de
datos productivos en la región NO de la provincia.
Luego establece las distintas estrategias
de comercialización del producto principal,
el cabrito:
• venta directa 48 %
• venta a intermediario 28 %
• reposición 14 %
• consumo 10 %This paper aims to characterise goat
production in the North and West of Córdoba
(Argentina). It analises the literature at the
provincial level both diachronicaly and
sinchronicaly, focusing the data survey on the
NW area.
The paper concludes that there are
different channels for trading goat-kids (the
main product sent by peasants to the market):
• direct sales to final consumers 48 %
• to middlemen 28 %
• female kids to replace old goats 14 %
• and meat for peasant households 10 %Fil: Ferrer, G..

Scalar-tensor cosmologies: fixed points of the Jordan frame scalar field
We study the evolution of homogeneous and isotropic, flat cosmological models
within the general scalar-tensor theory of gravity with arbitrary coupling
function and potential. After introducing the limit of general relativity we
describe the details of the phase space geometry. Using the methods of
dynamical systems for the decoupled equation of the Jordan frame scalar field
we find the fixed points of flows in two cases: potential domination and matter
domination. We present the conditions on the mathematical form of the coupling
function and potential which determine the nature of the fixed points
(attractor or other). There are two types of fixed points, both are
characterized by cosmological evolution mimicking general relativity, but only
one of the types is compatible with the Solar System PPN constraints. The phase
space structure should also carry over to the Einstein frame as long as the
transformation between the frames is regular which however is not the case for
the latter (PPN compatible) fixed point.Comment: 21 pages, 4 figures, some comments and references adde
Tactile innervation densities across the whole body
The skin is our largest sensory organ and innervated by afferent fibers carrying tactile information to the spinal cord and onto the brain. The density with which different classes of tactile afferents innervate the skin is not constant but varies considerably across different body regions. However, precise estimates of innervation density are only available for some body parts, such as the hands, and estimates of the total number of tactile afferent fibers are inconsistent and incomplete. Here we reconcile different estimates and provide plausible ranges and best estimates for the number of different tactile fiber types innervating different regions of the skin, using evidence from dorsal root fiber counts, microneurography, histology, and psychophysics. We estimate that the skin across the whole body of young adults is innervated by approximately 230,000 tactile afferent fibers (plausible range: 200,000-270,000), with a subsequent decrement of 5-8% every decade due to aging. 15% of fibers innervate the palmar skin of both hands and 19% the region surrounding the face and lips. Slowly and fast-adapting fibers are split roughly evenly, but this breakdown varies with skin region. Innervation density correlates well with psychophysical spatial acuity across different body regions, and additionally, on hairy skin, with hair follicle density. Innervation density is also weakly correlated with the size of the cortical somatotopic representation, but cannot fully account for the magnification of the hands and the face
Small oscillations and the Heisenberg Lie algebra
The Adler Kostant Symes [A-K-S] scheme is used to describe mechanical systems
for quadratic Hamiltonians of on coadjoint orbits of the
Heisenberg Lie group. The coadjoint orbits are realized in a solvable Lie
algebra that admits an ad-invariant metric. Its quadratic induces
the Hamiltonian on the orbits, whose Hamiltonian system is equivalent to that
one on . This system is a Lax pair equation whose solution can
be computed with help of the Adjoint representation. For a certain class of
functions, the Poisson commutativity on the coadjoint orbits in
is related to the commutativity of a family of derivations of the
2n+1-dimensional Heisenberg Lie algebra . Therefore the complete
integrability is related to the existence of an n-dimensional abelian
subalgebra of certain derivations in . For instance, the motion
of n-uncoupled harmonic oscillators near an equilibrium position can be
described with this setting.Comment: 17 pages, it contains a theory about small oscillations in terms of

Pb isotopic variability in melt inclusions from the EMI–EMII–HIMU mantle end-members and the role of the oceanic lithosphere
Melt inclusions from four individual lava samples representing the HIMU (Mangaia Island), EMI (Pitcairn Island) and EMII (Tahaa Island) end member components, have heterogeneous Pb isotopic composition larger than that defined by the erupted lavas in each island. The broad linear trend in ^(207)Pb/^(206)Pb–^(208)Pb/^(206)Pb space produced by the melt inclusions from Mangaia, Tahaa and fPitcairn samples reproduces the entire trend defined by the Austral chain, the Society islands and the Pitcairn island and seamount groups. The inclusions preserve a record of melt composition of far greater isotopic diversity than that sampled in whole rock basalts. These results can be explained by mixing of a common depleted component with the HIMU, EMI and EMII lavas, respectively. We favor a model that considers the oceanic lithosphere to be that common component. We suggest that the Pb isotopic compositions of the melt inclusions reflect wall rock reaction of HIMU, EMI and EMII melts during their percolation through the oceanic lithosphere. Under these conditions, the localized rapid crystallization of olivine from primitive basalt near the reaction zone would allow the entrapment of melt inclusions with different isotopic composition
Long-wavelength approximation for string cosmology with barotropic perfect fluid
The field equations derived from the low energy string effective action with
a matter tensor describing a perfect fluid with a barotropic equation of state
are solved iteratively using the long-wavelength approximation, i.e. the field
equations are expanded by the number of spatial gradients. In the zero order, a
quasi-isotropic solution is presented and compared with the general solution of
the pure dilaton gravity. Possible cosmological models are analyzed from the
point of view of the pre-big bang scenario. The second order solutions are
found and their growing and decaying parts are studied.Comment: 19 pages, 1 figur
