Structural Dynamics and Personal Agency in Housing Careers
The relative impacts of structural dynamics and personal agency on housing careers were assessed using a mixed methods approach. Secondary survey from the 2009 “American Housing Survey: National Microdata” (US Bureau of the Census) were supplemented with qualitative observations collected for this research from three professionals knowledgeable about housing issues as well as content analysis of journalistic writings about housing issues. Respondents’ housing moves were driven more by personal choice than by structural displacement. However, both structural displacement (as predicted by the Structural Inequalities paradigm) and personal choice, a dimension of agency (predicted with Becker and Tumin’s Human Capital theory), equally shaped, albeit in opposite ways, downward or upward housing mobility, respectively. Socio-economic resources that could facilitate personal agency had no impact. The professional interviewees agreed with some of these statistical findings but disagreed with others. Content analysis captured contemporary housing and gentrification issues in communities. This research extended the existing scholarship on housing quality by simultaneously accounting for structural dynamics and personal agency
Recursion Polynomials of Unfolded Sequences
Watermarking digital media is one of the important chal- lenges for information hiding. Not only the watermark must be resistant to noise and against attempts of modification, legitimate users should not be aware that it is embedded in the media. One of the techniques for watermarking is using an special variant of spread-spectrum tech- nique, called frequency hopping. It requires ensembles of periodic binary sequences with low off-peak autocorrelation and cross-correlation. Un- fortunately, they are quite rare and difficult to find. The small Kasami, Kamaletdinov, and Extended Rational Cycle constructions are versatile, because they can also be converted into Costas-like arrays for frequency hopping. We study the implementation of such ensembles using linear feedback shift registers. This permits an efficient generation of sequences and arrays in real time in FPGAs. Such an implementation requires minimal memory usage and permits dynamic updating of sequences or arrays. The aim of our work was to broaden current knowledge of sets of se- quences with low correlation studying their implementation using linear feedback shift registers. A remarkable feature of these families is their similarities in terms of implementation and it may open new way to characterize sequences with low correlation, making it easier to gener- ate them. It also validates some conjectures made by Moreno and Tirkel about arrays constructed using the method of composition.

In definitive, the investigation picks up the changes in the social representations of the investigated psychotherapists, have more than enough its problems and labor relationships, as consequence of the application of the method of the family constellations
ABSTRACT.
There are currently no measurement parameters to evaluate the benefits of an electronic voting
system. This paper aims to address this need by specifying a set of elements and criteria achieving two goals:
To assess the suitability of automated voting systems and to make comparisons among systems. Proposed
criteria area based on the own expertise, along with the deep study of the information offered by authors
and sponsors of a number of voting systems as well as the expressed opinions in forums where potential
voters state their hopes, fears and reluctance to achieve this target. The result is the presentation of a body
of characteristics to identify risks in electronic voting systems
The energy efficiency of the ergodic fading relay channel
In this paper, we address the energy ef ciency analysis of
the relay channel under ergodic fading. The study considers
full duplex and half duplex terminals. Since the capacity of
general relay channels is unknown, we investigate achievable
rates with decode and forward and capacity upper bounds
with the cut-set bound. The maximum rate per energy and
the slope of the spectral ef ciency with the energy per bit are
computed to asses the impact of the duplexing capabilities,
the resource allocation and the channel fading distribution.Postprint (published version
Generating gaussian pseudorandom noise with binary sequences
Gaussian random number generators attract a widespread interest due to their
applications in several fields. Important requirements include easy
implementation, tail accuracy, and, finally, a flat spectrum. In this work, we
study the applicability of uniform pseudorandom binary generators in
combination with the Central Limit Theorem to propose an easy to implement,
efficient and flexible algorithm that leverages the properties of the
pseudorandom binary generator used as an input, specially with respect to the
correlation measure of higher order, to guarantee the quality of the generated
samples. Our main result provides a relationship between the pseudorandomness
of the input and the statistical moments of the output. We propose a design
based on the combination of pseudonoise sequences commonly used on wireless
communications with known hardware implementation, which can generate sequences
with guaranteed statistical distribution properties sufficient for many real
life applications and simple machinery. Initial computer simulations on this
construction show promising results in the quality of the output and the
computational resources in terms of required memory and complexity
