Isotopic replacement in ionic systems: the 4He2+ + 3He -> 3He4He+ + 4He reaction
Full quantum dynamics calculations have been carried out for the ionic
reaction 4He2+ + 3He and state-to-state reactive probabilities have been
obtained using both a time-dependent (TD) and a time-independent (TI) approach.
An accurate ab-initio potential energy surface has been employed for the
present quantum dynamics and the two sets of results are shown to be in
agreement with each other. The results for zero total angular momentum suggest
a marked presence of atom exchange (isotopic replacement) reaction with
probabilities as high as 60%. The reaction probabilities are only weakly
dependent on the initial vibrational state of the reactants while they are
slightly more sensitive to the degree of rotational excitation. A brief
discussion of the results for selected higher total angular momentum values is
also presented, while the l-shifting approximation [1] has been used to provide
estimates of the total reaction rates for the title process. Such rates are
found to be large enough to possibly become experimentally accessible
D-brane Instantons as Gauge Instantons in Orientifolds of Chiral Quiver Theories
Systems of D3-branes at orientifold singularities can receive
non-perturbative D-brane instanton corrections, inducing field theory operators
in the 4d effective theory. In certain non-chiral examples, these systems have
been realized as the infrared endpoint of a Seiberg duality cascade, in which
the D-brane instanton effects arise from strong gauge theory dynamics. We
present the first UV duality cascade completion of chiral D3-brane theories, in
which the D-brane instantons arise from gauge theory dynamics. Chiral examples
are interesting because the instanton fermion zero mode sector is topologically
protected, and therefore lead to more robust setups. As an application of our
results, we provide a UV completion of certain D-brane orientifold systems
recently claimed to produce conformal field theories with conformal invariance

acortamiento del cúbito. Presentamos un caso de afectación a nivel de ambos antebrazos, uno en forma aguda
con un tratamiento mediante osteosíntesis y otro crónico en el que se ha realizado una artroplastia de la cabeza
de radio, un acortamiento del cúbito y una técnica de Adams para la estabilización distal, ambos con excelente
resultado. En nuestra opinión la estabilización de la articulación radio cubital distal debe ser parte del tratamiento
del síndrome de Essex-Lopresti y la técnica de Adams constituye una alternativa en aquellos casos en los que la
reconstrucción directa no es posible.Essex-Lopresti syndrome is an uncommon condition which in many occasions it goes unnoticed in
acute phase. Its treatment is based on stabilize the head of the radius to prevent its proximal migration but there is
no clear protocols on the performance at the distal radio-ulnar joint, the interosseous membrane or the role of the
shortening of the ulna. We present a case report of effects at the levels of both forearms, one in acute form, with
a treatment with osteosynthesis and another that has been treated with an arthroplasty of the radius head, a shor

tening of the ulna and an Adams ? technique for distal stabilization, both with excellent results. In our opinion,
the stabilization of the distal radio-ulnar joint should be part of the treatment of Essex-Lopresti syndrome and the
Adams ? technique is an alternative in those cases in which the direct reconstruction is not possible
The Multi-center Evaluation of the Accuracy of the Contrast MEdium INduced Pd/Pa RaTiO in Predicting FFR (MEMENTO-FFR) Study.
AIMS:
Adenosine administration is needed for the achievement of maximal hyperaemia fractional flow reserve (FFR) assessment. The objective was to test the accuracy of Pd/Pa ratio registered during submaximal hyperaemia induced by non-ionic contrast medium (contrast FFR [cFFR]) in predicting FFR and comparing it to the performance of resting Pd/Pa in a collaborative registry of 926 patients enrolled in 10 hospitals from four European countries (Italy, Spain, France and Portugal).
METHODS AND RESULTS:
Resting Pd/Pa, cFFR and FFR were measured in 1,026 coronary stenoses functionally evaluated using commercially available pressure wires. cFFR was obtained after intracoronary injection of contrast medium, while FFR was measured after administration of adenosine. Resting Pd/Pa and cFFR were significantly higher than FFR (0.93±0.05 vs. 0.87±0.08 vs. 0.84±0.08, p<0.001). A strong correlation and a close agreement at Bland-Altman analysis between cFFR and FFR were observed (r=0.90, p<0.001 and 95% CI of disagreement: from -0.042 to 0.11). ROC curve analysis showed an excellent accuracy (89%) of the cFFR cut-off of ≤0.85 in predicting an FFR value ≤0.80 (AUC 0.95 [95% CI: 0.94-0.96]), significantly better than that observed using resting Pd/Pa (AUC: 0.90, 95% CI: 0.88-0.91; p<0.001). A cFFR/FFR hybrid approach showed a significantly lower number of lesions requiring adenosine than a resting Pd/Pa/FFR hybrid approach (22% vs. 44%, p<0.0001).
CONCLUSIONS:
cFFR is accurate in predicting the functional significance of coronary stenosis. This could allow limiting the use of adenosine to obtain FFR to a minority of stenoses with considerable savings of time and costs.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Scattering Amplitudes and Toric Geometry
In this paper we provide a first attempt towards a toric geometric
interpretation of scattering amplitudes. In recent investigations it has indeed
been proposed that the all-loop integrand of planar N=4 SYM can be represented
in terms of well defined finite objects called on-shell diagrams drawn on
disks. Furthermore it has been shown that the physical information of on-shell
diagrams is encoded in the geometry of auxiliary algebraic varieties called the
totally non negative Grassmannians. In this new formulation the infinite
dimensional symmetry of the theory is manifest and many results, that are quite
tricky to obtain in terms of the standard Lagrangian formulation of the theory,
are instead manifest. In this paper, elaborating on previous results, we
provide another picture of the scattering amplitudes in terms of toric
geometry. In particular we describe in detail the toric varieties associated to
an on-shell diagram, how the singularities of the amplitudes are encoded in
some subspaces of the toric variety, and how this picture maps onto the
Grassmannian description. Eventually we discuss the action of cluster
transformations on the toric varieties. The hope is to provide an alternative
description of the scattering amplitudes that could contribute in the
