Poseidon Linux 3.x - The scientific GNU/Linux option

This software review is about the newest version of Poseidon Linux (3.x). The current Poseidon Linux is a remastering from Ubuntu LTS family (Long Term Support), with extra specific software applicable to many areas of scientific research and education. It contains specialist software for GIS/Mapping, bathymetry, numerical modeling, 2D/3D/4D visualization, bioinformatics, chemistry, statistics, as well as tools for creating simple and complex graphics and programming languages. It also includes basic packages as would be expected on a normal desktop, such as a complete office suite, internet browser, e-mail client, instant messaging, chat, multimedia and many other tools. Poseidon Linux can run in two modes, as a live-DVD or installed on the hard disk. There are versions for 32 and 64 bit computers, and support for Brazilian Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Greek, Italian and German languages. Resumo. Poseidon Linux 3.x – A opção científica GNU/Linux. Esta resenha trata da nova versão do software Poseidon Linux (3.x). A versão atual é uma remasterização a partir do sistema operacional Ubuntu, família LTS (Suporte de Longo Prazo), com pacotes extras para várias áreas da ciência e educação. Contém programas específicos para SIG/mapeamento, batimetria, modelagem numérica, visualização 2D/3D/4D, bioinformática, química, estatística, bem como ferramentas para elaboração de gráficos simples e complexos e linguagem de programação. Inclui também os programas necessários encontrados num sistema operacional desktop, tais como suporte completo para escritório, navegador de internet, programas para envio e recebimento de mensagens instantâneas, multimídia e várias outras ferramentas. O Poseidon Linux pode ser utilizado de duas formas: diretamente do DVD, sem instalá-lo, ou instalando-o no disco rígido do computador. É apresentado nas versões 32 e 64 bits e pode ser totalmente configurado em Português do Brasil, Inglês, Espanhol, Francês, Grego, Italiano e Alemão

Uma nova espécie de Metavononoides da Mata Atlântica (Arachnida: Opiliones: Cosmetidae)

A new species of Cosmetidae belonging to the genus Metavononoides Roewer, 1928 is herein described. Metavononoides renneri sp.nov. is clearly recognized by its distinctive tarsal formula, by the ratio length/width of dorsal scutum, and by its characteristic color pattern. The new species is the thirteenth species included in the genus. It is known only from the type locality, Bom Jesus do Norte, Alto da Torre, Espírito Santo, Brazil.Uma nova espécie de Cosmetidae pertencente ao gênero Metavononoides Roewer, 1928 é descrita. Metavononoides renneri sp.nov. é claramente reconhecida por sua fórmula tarsal, pela relação comprimento/largura do escudo dorsal, e pelo seu padrão de cores. Os alunos foram divididos em grupos de 4 e 5 sendo que em cada grupo um representante ficava na trilha e cada jogada era vez de um integrante jogar o dado, sendo que o grupo todo poderia responder a pergunta. e-Accessibility: Making the Web Accessible to the Visually Impaired Persons

Accessibility is the possibility of any person to make use of all the benefits of society, including the use of the Internet. Graphical are an obstacle for visually impaired persons to access the Internet, so they need a support technology capable of capturing interfaces and making them accessible. Interfaces should be designed so that when accessed by support technologies they continue to be friendly. For a site to be accessible to blind persons it is necessary that the information be reproduced by means of an “equivalent” textual description, capable of transmitting the same information as the visual resources. The present study is aimed at identifying and defining usability guidance compliant with accessibility W3C directives that can facilitate the interaction between visually impaired and the Internet and still guarantee sites with understandable navigation content. Towards this end an exploratory study was conducted, comprised of a field study and interviews with various visually disabled people from the Instituto Benjamin Constant, reference center in Brazil for the education and re-education of visually impaired persons, in order to get to know visually disabled users better. Through the understanding acquired, different types of impositions and limits that these users are subject to have been identified, enabling a better perception of their needs and special abilities. The impaired user-machine interaction were observed and analyzed, which enabled the identification of aspects that could contribute to the accessibility of sites, with emphasis on facilitating the access of those visually impaired to the Web

Registros de graffiti em Bogotá: Reflexões sobre semelhanças e especificidades

O movimento Hip-Hop é algo que se faz presente na minha vida desde os 12 anos e, desta forma, marcou muitos momentos das trajetórias que foram realizadas ao longo da existência. Forma de ver o mundo, pensamentos políticos, organização social e pesquisa acadêmica, são algumas das dimensões pessoais e profissionais que foram impactadas devido a este movimento. A pesquisa de mestrado foi realizada buscando compreender um pouco da identidade latino-americana no rap do Brasil e Colômbia, utilizando-se músicas de artistas de ambos os países. Durante o período de realização da pesquisa foi possível, com apoio da universidade, fazer um trabalho de campo em Bogotá e nesta experiência algumas fotografias de graffitis pelas ruas bogotanas foram feitas e estão aqui retratadas

Gestão integrada do transporte público coletivo e relações com cidade digital estratégica: Curitiba e região metropolitana

Cities are in constant growth and territorial expansion. The objective is to analyze the public transport of Curitiba integrated management and relations with the strategic digital city. The research method emphasized a case study in city Curitiba and the metropolitan region. The research protocol focused on 11 variables. The results highlighted the strategic digital city subprojects in the integrated management current model of the collective public transport system of Curitiba and the metropolitan region. However, there is no official document that specifies the strategies and goals that will serve as a basis for future management. The conclusion reiterates the debate on urban, local and regional mobility, referring to the public service management in and between municipalities. It is noteworthy that when there is a public transportation system strategically planned and properly implemented, it contributes to urban-regional development.Las ciudades están en constante crecimiento y expansión territorial. El objetivo es analizar la gestión integral del transporte público de Curitiba y las relaciones con la ciudad digital estratégica. El método de investigación enfatizó un estudio de caso sobre transporte público en Curitiba y la región metropolitana. El protocolo de investigación se centró en 11 variables. Los resultados obtenidos destacaron la presencia de los subproyectos de la ciudad digital estratégica en el actual modelo de gestión integral del sistema de transporte público colectivo de Curitiba y la región metropolitana. Sin embargo, no existe un documento oficial que especifique las estrategias y metas que servirán de base para la gestión futura. La conclusión reitera la importancia del debate sobre la movilidad urbana, local y regional, refiriéndose a la integración de la gestión de los servicios públicos en y entre municipios. Es de destacar que cuando existe un sistema de transporte público estratégicamente planeado e implementado adecuadamente, se contribuye al desarrollo urbano-regional.As cidades estão em constante crescimento e expansão territorial. GEOGRAFIA E AS REPRESENTAÇÕES DOS LUGARES SAGRADOS: UMA ANÁLISE DE PALMEIRA-PR

This research concerns to the submitted project to the Scientific Initiation Program of the Midwest State University (UNICENTRO) in 2015. Its main goal was to seek the theoretical propositions that aim to give prominence to the interpretation of socio-spatial phenomena, that is, to understand the representations of the sacred contextualized in the geographical imagination in the city of Palmeira, State of Paraná. For a better analysis and understanding, we seek to understand the practices and uses of the “Bom Jesus do Monte“, better known as “Capelinhas de Vieiras”. This place is located in the community of Vieiras in the countryside of the county, in this area are built 14 chapels in cruse form, which represent the devotion of a Portuguese immigrant by the deities who attended him when requested. After the bibliographical analysis, informal interviews were conducted with people from the community of Vieiras, as well as questionnaires in the printed form were applied about the uses and utility of the place. Through the results obtained we come to some considerations and proposals, made at the end of this article.A presente pesquisa trata-se de um projeto submetido ao programa de Iniciação Cientifica da Universidade Estadual do Centro-Oeste (UNICENTRO) no ano de 2015. Teve como objetivo principal buscar as proposições teóricas que almejam dar relevo à interpretação dos fenômenos sócio-espaciais, ou seja, compreender as representações do sagrado contextualizando na seara da imaginação geográfica na cidade Palmeira no Paraná. Para uma melhor analise e compreensão, buscamos entender as práticas e usos do “Santuário Bom Jejus do Monte”, mais conhecido como “Capelinhas de Vieiras”. Este espaço está situado na comunidade de Vieiras na zona rural do município, neste local estão edificadas 14 capelas em forma de cruzeiro, que representam a devoção de um imigrante português pelas divindades que lhe atenderam quando solicitado. Após a análise bibliográfica, foram feitas entrevistas informais com pessoas da comunidade de Vieiras, bem como questionários na forma impressa onde foram perguntadas questões de uso e utilidade do local. Através dos resultados obtidos chegamos a algumas considerações e propostas, feitas ao final deste artigo

Cardiovascular consequences of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome

Uma condição clínica muito comum é SAOS, que está associada a várias doenças cardiovasculares, incluindo hipertensão arterial sistêmica, fibrilação atrial e aterosclerose. A associação entre SAOS e doença cardiovascular não é somente uma consequência da sobreposição de fatores de risco, incluindo obesidade, sedentarismo, ser do sexo masculino e ter idade maior. Existem evidências crescentes de que SAOS contribui de forma independente para o aparecimento e a progressão de várias doenças cardiovasculares. Os mecanismos pelos quais SAOS pode afetar o sistema cardiovascular são múltiplos e incluem a ativação do sistema nervoso simpático, inflamação sistêmica, resistência a insulina e geração de estresse oxidativo. Existem evidências que o tratamento de SAOS com CPAP pode reduzir a pressão arterial, sinais precoces de aterosclerose, risco de recorrência de fibrilação atrial e mortalidade, principalmente por acidente vascular cerebral e infarto agudo do miocárdio, em pacientes com SAOS grave.Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is a common condition associated with various cardiovascular diseases, including systemic arterial hypertension, atrial fibrillation, and atherosclerosis. The association between OSAS and cardiovascular disease has been related to the overlapping of risk factors, including obesity, having a sedentary lifestyle, being male, and being older. However, there is mounting evidence that OSAS can also independently contribute to the development and progression of various cardiovascular diseases. The mechanisms by which OSAS can affect the cardiovascular system are multiple, including the activation of the sympathetic nervous system, systemic inflammation, insulin resistance, and oxidative stress. There is also evidence that the treatment of OSAS with CPAP can reduce arterial blood pressure, early signs of atherosclerosis, the risk of atrial fibrillation recurrence, and mortality (principally mortality due to stroke or acute myocardial infarction) in patients with severe OSAS

Information technology governance in small and medium enterprises - a systematic mapping

Information Technology (IT) governance in small and medium-sized businesses is a subject that still requires more effort. Many of the studies that deal with this subject refer to large companies. IT governance structures, originally developed for the context of large enterprises such as COBIT, ISO/IEC 35800 or ITIL, when applied to the context of small and medium enterprises, lead to undesirable results and failures in the deployment process. The objective of this work was to perform a systematic mapping on IT governance in small and medium enterprises between 2007 and 2017. Systematic mapping studies are useful for categorizing and summarizing the existing information concerning a research question in an unbiased manner. Thus, from an initial set of 63 papers, a total of 17 research papers were selected for the mapping study. The results obtained allowed us to reach conclusions concerning the state-of-the-art of IT governance mechanisms, theories applied in the context and the consequences of IT governance. From the results of this study it was possible to perceive the low use of relational mechanisms of IT governance in the studied context, the constant need to adapt frameworks such as COBIT and ITIL, so that they can adapt to the reality of SMEs, the wide variety of theoretical approaches and the importance, for SMEs, of the concept of IT value for the business

Caracterização parcial de liga Nitinol® atuador através de pontos críticos de transformação de fases utilizando calorimetria diferencial de varredura

In this work, it was studied a partial characterization of a Nitinol actuator M-type alloy, manufactured by Memory- Metalle. From the results obtained in differential scanning calorimetry, it was shown the temperatures of phase transformation where occur the remarkable properties, shape memory effect and super-elasticity. These temperatures will determine the alloy application in the product. The phase transformation temperatures are defined as As (austenite start), Af (austenite finished), Ms (martensite start) and Mf (martensite finished), which means beginning and end of austenite transformation and the beginning and end of the martensitic transformation. Key words: shape memory alloy, characterization, differential scanning calorimeter.No presente trabalho, foi feito um estudo sobre caracterização parcial de uma liga Nitinol atuador tipo M fabricada pela Memory-Metalle. Através dos resultados obtidos em Calorimetria Diferencial de Varredura mostraram-se as temperaturas de transformação de fases onde ocorrem as propriedades notáveis, efeito memória de forma e superelasticidade. Estas temperaturas irão determinar a aplicação da liga no produto. As temperaturas transformação de fases são definidas como As (austenite start), Af (austenite finished), Ms (martensite start) e Mf (martensite finished), ou seja, início e fim da transformação austenítica e início e fim da transformação martensítica.
