Design and Testing of a Structural Monitoring System in an Almería-Type Tensioned Structure Greenhouse

Greenhouse cultivation has gained a special importance in recent years and become the basis of the economy in south-eastern Spain. The structures used are light and, due to weather events, often collapse completely or partially, which has generated interest in the study of these unique buildings. This study presents a load and displacement monitoring system that was designed, and full scale tested, in an Almería-type greenhouse with a tensioned wire structure. The loads and displacements measured under real load conditions were recorded for multiple time periods. The traction force on the roof cables decreased up to 22% for a temperature increase of 30 °C, and the compression force decreased up to 16.1% on the columns or pillars for a temperature and wind speed increase of 25.8 °C and 1.9 m/s respectively. The results show that the structure is susceptible to daily temperature changes and, to a lesser extent, wind throughout the test. The monitoring system, which uses load cells to measure loads and machine vision techniques to measure displacements, is appropriate for use in different types of greenhouses

The possibility to create in criminal process a Leniency Programme, makes necessary to determine the scope of this system to ensure that it’s suitable with the norms of due process. Particularly, it requires to determinate the extent of leniency agreements that can be taken, the conditions for its execution, the consequences of non compliance, how should be collected the information provided for the informer or whistleblower and its procedural efficiency. This paper focuses on the last topic, that is, on the requirements to include into criminal process the information provided for the informer and its efficiency to take a judicial interlocutory decision, specially the decisions which may effect the personal and procedural situation of person under investigation.El uso de mecanismos premiales para obtener información con la que desarticular bandas y grupos criminales se ha revelado como un instrumento especialmente eficaz en la lucha contra la delincuencia organizada. En todos los sistemas penales se han introducido (o se está en vías de introducir) elementos a través de los que canalizar acuerdos de colaboración o ciertos beneficios penales con los que incentivar que investigados conocedores de información relevante la aporten al proceso. Sin embargo, no todos ellos garantizan su compatibilidad con las garantías procesales de otros investigados que resultan incriminados a cambio de acuerdos o beneficios penales ni ofrecen información fiable. En particular, es necesario determinar el alcance de los acuerdos premiales que pueden adoptarse, las condiciones para su ejecución, las consecuencias de su incumplimiento, el modo en el que ha de obtenerse la información ofrecida por el delator y su eficacia procesal. Este trabajo se centra en este último aspecto, esto es, en los requisitos para la incorporación a la causa de la información ofrecida por el investigado colaborador y en su eficacia procesal para acordar decisiones que puedan afectar a la situación personal y procesal de otros investigados en la misma causa o en causas vinculadas a ella.

Procedural efficiency of the statements obtained in collaboration procedures

En el presente artículo la autora desarrolla el tratamiento procesal que recibe la información obtenida a través de colaboradores en el marco de la investigación de delitos cometidos por organizaciones criminales. Así, se presentarán y analizarán las distintas fórmulas de colaboración y las condiciones requeridas para que las primeras cobren eficacia en calidad de prueba dentro del proceso; todo lo anterior tomando en cuenta la armonía necesaria con los principios que rigen el enjuiciamiento de causas penales.In this article the author develops the procedural treatment that receives the information obtained through collaborators in the framework of the investigation of crimes committed by criminal organizations. Thus, the different collaboration formulas and the conditions required for the former to become effective as evidence in the process will be presented and analyzed; all the above taking into account the necessary harmony with the principles that govern the prosecution of criminal cases

La inadecuada aplicación de la política criminal en el delito de discriminación y la vulneración del derecho a la igualdad en el Distrito Judicial de Lima Norte - durante los años 2017-2018

El presente trabajo contiene un desarrollo que pretende demostrar la deficiente política criminal en el delito de discriminación y la vulneración del derecho a la igualdad en el Distrito Judicial de Lima Norte, y determinar sus dificultades que permitan proponer aportes jurídicos de solución ante dicha problemática para el fortalecimiento del respeto del derecho a la igualdad. La metodología en la presente investigación fue cuantitativa, se procedió a realizar la recolección de datos de casos penales de discriminación en la Fiscalía y el Poder Judicial del período 2017-2018 y asimismo se practicó una encuesta dirigida a 68 fiscales y a 60 ciudadanos del Distrito Judicial de Lima Norte. En el decurso de los resultados obtenidos se demostró la hipótesis general de investigación, en tanto que la inadecuada aplicación de la política criminal en el delito de discriminación, vulnera el derecho a la igualdad en el Distrito Judicial de Lima Norte

The gas companies in Spain, a long-run approach (1842–2018)

Business History, en 2022, Vol. 64, nº. 1, pp. 75–97.The article aims to analyse the evolution of gas companies in Spain from their starting point in the middle of the nineteenth century (when the business was limited to public lighting), up until the complexity of the present day. This process is divided into three main stages according to the general context of the sector. In each period, the profile of the companies will be established, as well as their market and the institutional constraints and strategies that were adopted by the companies to overcome those challenges. We found that most of the peculiar features of the Spanish case history were shared with other Southern European countries. Identifying the Presence of Natural Radionuclides in Ashlar Samples

Humans have always been exposed to different types of natural and cosmic radiation. At present we experience 83 % natural radiation, for example from granite marbles, building materials such as concrete, brick, granite, or drywall. However, although these are potential sources of radon, they are rarely the cause of a high level of pollution in a building.Ashlar is a material of volcanic origin comprising heterogeneous and solidified detrital pyroclastic materials such as rhyolite, sand, volcanic ash and pumice, among others. Chemically, ashlar is principally composed of elements such as sodium, magnesium, calcium, iron, aluminum, sulfur, and cobalt. In order to identify the presence of these elements in the ashlar, X-ray Fluorescence studies were carried out first, using modern XRD and XRF equipment, followed by quantitative analysis using a neutron activation technique, and finally, low-level gamma spectrometry to evaluate the presence of radioactive elements

Rheology of Polymer Processing in Spain (1995–2020)

The contribution of Spanish scientists to the rheology involved in polymer processing during the last 25 years is investigated. It is shown that the performed research covers, at different levels, all industrial polymeric materials: thermoplastics, thermosets, adhesives, biopolymers, composites and nanocomposites, and polymer modified bitumen. Therefore, the rheological behaviour of these materials in processing methods such as extrusion, injection moulding, additive manufacturing, and others is discussed, based on the literature results.
