    Effect of Groundnut and Tigernut Doughs on the Quality of ‘Kilishi’ Lates Niloticus

    A Lates niloticus with an average weight of 13kg was purchased from Sokoto State Meat, Fish and Vegetable Market. The fish was descalled and washed thoroughly with clean water, after which it was cut into chunks, and into three treatments before slicing for kilishi production. The fresh sample was analysed for its proximate composition prior to application of slurry of ingredients. Three different doughs (Groundnut, Tigernut and combination) were used as major ingredients to prepare the ‘Kilishi’ Lates niloticus. All processes involved in kilishi preparation ranging from application of slurry of ingredients to roasting on glowing fire were followed. The three treatments were stored in a brown paper envelop in room temperature for a period of six weeks and on weekly intervals were subjected to sensory evaluation, chemical analysis and bacteriological assessment. The result of the present study revealed that there were significant differences (P<0.05) between the three treatments in the parameters tested. Crude protein and moisture values of the products during storage period ranged from 30.49±0.17 in kilishi Tigernut during the first week to 62.23±1.26 in kilishi of combined dough during the third week of storage. Kilishi formulated with groundnut dough was cherished more by panel of judges compared to the other two throughout the storage period. This research suggests a value addition to fish and is recommending further research to explore more ways of using local raw materials as ingredients for fish kilishi formulation. The data used as a basis in the comparison include : the theory of forms, change forms, the theory of the facade, the composition and elements of the facade, facade processing methods, and the characteristics of the facade.From the results of the study and the analysis found that building Gino Feruci Hotel Bandung is a building that has a facade concept and attractive shape and proportions and dynamic with good visual scale and has contextuality with the region

    Research has been conducted to predict the rainfall by 2013 to minimize drought in Gunungkidul with the purpose to know the predictions of rainfall in GunungKidul Regency in September until December 2013 as well as knowing how to minimize drought in GunungKidul Regency. The Data used in this study are precipitation data from 15 posts in Gunungkidul Regency in January 2009 – December 2013 obtained from Agency for meteorology Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) D.I.Yogyakarta. The analysis used in this study by using Desktiptif Analysis and decomposition of Seasonal prediction value and generate rainfall in Gunungkidul Regency in September until December 2013 respectively is 98, 448mm, 152,426 mm, 223,112 mm, 360,278 mm. from the results of this prediction can be done the anticipation for the year 2014

    Leaf-applied sodium chloride promotes cadmium accumulation in durum wheat grain

    Cadmium (Cd) accumulation in durum wheat grain is a growing concern. Among the factors affecting Cd accumulation in plants, soil chloride (Cl) concentration plays a critical role. The effect of leaf NaCl application on grain Cd was studied in greenhouse-grown durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. durum, cv. Balcali-2000) by immersing (10 s) intact flag leaves into Cd and/or NaCl-containing solutions for 14 times during heading and dough stages. Immersing flag leaves in solutions containing increasing amount of Cd resulted in substantial increases in grain Cd concentration. Adding NaCl alone or in combination with the Cd-containing immersion solution promoted accumulation of Cd in the grains, by up to 41%. In contrast, Zn concentrations of grains were not affected or even decreased by the NaCl treatments. This is likely due to the effect of Cl complexing Cd and reducing positive charge on the metal ion, an effect that is much smaller for Zn. Charge reduction or removal (CdCl2 0 species) would increase the diffusivity/lipophilicity of Cd and enhance its capability to penetrate the leaf epidermis and across membranes. Of even more significance to human health was the ability of Cl alone to penetrate leaf tissue and mobilize and enhance shoot Cd transfer to grains, yet reducing or not affecting Zn transfer

The resulting photoelectrons and fragment ions are captured by a double-sided velocity map imaging spectrometer and projected onto two position-sensitive detectors. The ion side of the spectrometer is equipped with a pixel imaging mass spectrometry camera, a time-stamping pixelated detector that can record the hit positions and arrival times of up to four ions per pixel per acquisition cycle. Thus, the time-of-flight trace and ion momentum distributions for all fragments can be recorded simultaneously. We show that we can obtain a high degree of one-and three-dimensional alignment and mixed-field orientation and compare the Coulomb explosion process induced at both wavelengths. © 2017 Author(s)

However, the extent to which such claims are supported in the current food security literature is unclear. This review assesses the extent to which seafood is represented in the recent food security literature, both individually and from a food systems perspective, in combination with terrestrially-based production systems. The results demonstrate that seafood remains under-researched compared to the role of terrestrial animal and plant production in food security. Furthermore, seafood and terrestrial production remain siloed, with very few papers addressing the combined contribution or relations between terrestrial and aquatic systems. We conclude that far more attention is needed to the specific and relative role of seafood in global food security and call for the integration of seafood in a wider interdisciplinary approach to global food system research
