Flexible coping psychotherapy for functional dyspeptic patients: A randomized, controlled trial
OBJECTIVE: This study tested the efficacy of a new psychotherapy, flexible coping psychotherapy (FCP), specifically designed for enhancing coping flexibility of patients with functional dyspepsia (FD). The design of this psychotherapy is based on the general cognitive-behavioral model and previous findings on FD. METHODS: We adopted a randomized, controlled design to examine the differences between the target (FCP) and control (supportive psychotherapy [SPP]) conditions. Coping flexibility and outcome measures reported by 75 Chinese FD patients (18-65 years; 35% men) were assessed before and 12 months after treatment. RESULTS: Results revealed that participants who received the FCP reported an increase in coping flexibility as well as reductions in self-rated dyspeptic symptom severity (SDSS), gastroenterologist-rated dyspeptic symptom severity, and anxiety levels (p values <.01). Participants who received the SPP reported reductions in SDSS and anxiety levels (p values <.0001). Although both groups reported a decrease in SDSS, only the SDSS level of the FCP group was comparable to that of a healthy community sample (p = .28). CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that FCP is a potentially effective intervention for treating FD symptoms. Its effectiveness may be attributable to the specific components of FCP rather than common psychotherapeutic factors such as emotional support and empathy per se. If players are sparse social dilemmas are too: Importance of percolation for evolution of cooperation
Spatial reciprocity is a well known tour de force of cooperation promotion. A
thorough understanding of the effects of different population densities is
therefore crucial. Here we study the evolution of cooperation in social
dilemmas on different interaction graphs with a certain fraction of vacant
nodes. We find that sparsity may favor the resolution of social dilemmas,
especially if the population density is close to the percolation threshold of
the underlying graph. Regardless of the type of the governing social dilemma as
well as particularities of the interaction graph, we show that under pairwise
imitation the percolation threshold is a universal indicator of how dense the
occupancy ought to be for cooperation to be optimally promoted. We also
demonstrate that myopic updating, due to the lack of efficient spread of
information via imitation, renders the reported mechanism dysfunctional, which

Design of a five-axis ultra-precision micro-milling machine—UltraMill. Part 1: Holistic design approach, design considerations and specifications
High-accuracy three-dimensional miniature components and microstructures are increasingly in demand in the sector of electro-optics, automotive, biotechnology, aerospace and information-technology industries. A rational approach to mechanical micro machining is to develop ultra-precision machines with small footprints. In part 1 of this two-part paper, the-state-of-the-art of ultra-precision machines with micro-machining capability is critically reviewed. The design considerations and specifications of a five-axis ultra-precision micro-milling machine—UltraMill—are discussed. Three prioritised design issues: motion accuracy, dynamic stiffness and thermal stability, formulate the holistic design approach for UltraMill. This approach has been applied to the development of key machine components and their integration so as to achieve high accuracy and nanometer surface finish
Comparative indoor and outdoor stability measurements of polymer based solar cells
We report comparative indoor and outdoor stability testing of organic solar cells based on a blend between a donor-acceptor polyfluorene copolymer and a fullerene derivative. The outdoor testing was conducted for a period over 12,000 hours in Sheffield, England, with a Ts80 lifetime determined in excess of 10,000 hours (420 days). Indoor lifetime testing was performed on solar cells using a solar simulator under a constant irradiance of 1000 W/m(2) for more than 650 hours. We show that under the conditions explored here, device degradation under the two sets of conditions is approximately dependent on the absorbed optical energy dose
Binary and Millisecond Pulsars at the New Millennium
We review the properties and applications of binary and millisecond pulsars.
Our knowledge of these exciting objects has greatly increased in recent years,
mainly due to successful surveys which have brought the known pulsar population
to over 1300. There are now 56 binary and millisecond pulsars in the Galactic
disk and a further 47 in globular clusters. This review is concerned primarily
with the results and spin-offs from these surveys which are of particular

A search for the decay modes B+/- to h+/- tau l
We present a search for the lepton flavor violating decay modes B+/- to h+/-
tau l (h= K,pi; l= e,mu) using the BaBar data sample, which corresponds to 472
million BBbar pairs. The search uses events where one B meson is fully
reconstructed in one of several hadronic final states. Using the momenta of the
reconstructed B, h, and l candidates, we are able to fully determine the tau
four-momentum. The resulting tau candidate mass is our main discriminant
against combinatorial background. We see no evidence for B+/- to h+/- tau l
decays and set a 90% confidence level upper limit on each branching fraction at
