Wavelength de-multiplexing properties of a single aperture flanked by periodic arrays of indentations
In this paper we explore the transmission properties of single subwavelength
apertures perforated in thin metallic films flanked by asymmetric
configurations of periodic arrays of indentations. It is shown how the
corrugation in the input side can be used to transmit selectively only two
different wavelengths. Also, by tuning the geometrical parameters defining the
corrugation of the output side, these two chosen wavelengths can emerge from
the structure as two very narrow beams propagating at well-defined directions.
This new ability of structured metals can be used as a base to build
micron-sized wavelength de-multiplexers.Comment: Accepted for publication in Photonics and Nanostructure
Theory of extraordinary transmission of light through quasiperiodic arrays of subwavelength holes
By using a theoretical formalism able to work in both real and k-spaces, the
physical origin of the phenomenon of extraordinary transmission of light
through quasi-periodic arrays of holes is revealed. Long-range order present in
a quasiperiodic array selects the wavevector(s) of the surface electromagnetic
mode(s) that allows an efficient transmission of light through subwavelength
holes.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Correlation and regression analysis between residual gradation and uncorrected visual acuity one year after refractive surgery with LASIK, FS-LASIK, PRK, PRK Xtra techniques and the implantation of ICL® posterior chamber phakic lens in myopic correction
Purpose
To analyze the influence of the final spherical equivalent (SE) in LogMAR uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) one year after refractive surgery. We analysed refractive results, their predictability and efficacy, and the safety results of the different methods as secondary outcomes. Setting Refractive Surgery Unit of the Institut Català de Retina (ICR) in Barcelona, Spain.
Design
Retrospective, analytical observational study. Methods Retrospective and observational study of 654 eyes of 327 patients who underwent refractive surgery to treat their myopia or myopic astigmatism using LASIK, FS-LASIK, PRK, PRK Xtra or ICL-type lens implantation surgery were included.
Results
The correlation between the SE in absolute value was statistically significant in all techniques utilized, reaching higher values in the FS-LASIK and LASIK techniques, 0.774 and0.706 respectively, and lesser values in PRK (0.480) and PRK Xtra (0.482). A significant adjustment via a univariate linear regression model could be implemented in all techniques, albeit the R2 coefficient of determination values were higher than those for the FS-LASIK (0.599) and LASIK (0.494) techniques.
Conclusions
There is a positive correlation between post-surgical SE value and post-operative LogMAR UDVA. These regression models can be adjusted to predict the final UDVA according to the final SE. The techniques that are most influenced by the final SE in terms of their visual results are FS-LASIK and LASIK

Association of common genetic variants with risperidone adverse events in a Spanish schizophrenic population
Risperidone non-compliance is often high due to undesirable side effects, whose development is in part genetically determined. Studies with genetic variants involved in the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of risperidone have yielded inconsistent results. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the putative association of genetic markers with the occurrence of four frequently observed adverse events secondary to risperidone treatment: sleepiness, weight gain, extrapyramidal symptoms and sexual adverse events. A series of 111 schizophrenia inpatients were genotyped for genetic variants previously associated with or potentially involved in risperidone response. Presence of adverse events was the main variable and potential confounding factors were considered. Allele 16Gly of ADRB2 was significantly associated with a higher risk of sexual adverse events. There were other non-significant trends for DRD3 9Gly and SLC6A4 S alleles. Our results, although preliminary, provide new candidate variants of potential use in risperidone safety prediction
Measurement of double beta decay of 100Mo to excited states in the NEMO 3 experiment
The double beta decay of 100Mo to the 0^+_1 and 2^+_1 excited states of 100Ru
is studied using the NEMO 3 data. After the analysis of 8024 h of data the
half-life for the two-neutrino double beta decay of 100Mo to the excited 0^+_1
state is measured to be T^(2nu)_1/2 = [5.7^{+1.3}_{-0.9}(stat)+/-0.8(syst)]x
10^20 y. The signal-to-background ratio is equal to 3. Information about energy
and angular distributions of emitted electrons is also obtained. No evidence
for neutrinoless double beta decay to the excited 0^+_1 state has been found.
The corresponding half-life limit is T^(0nu)_1/2(0^+ --> 0^+_1) > 8.9 x 10^22 y
(at 90% C.L.).
The search for the double beta decay to the 2^+_1 excited state has allowed
the determination of limits on the half-life for the two neutrino mode
T^(2nu)_1/2(0^+ --> 2^+_1) > 1.1 x 10^21 y (at 90% C.L.) and for the
neutrinoless mode T^(0nu)_1/2(0^+ --> 2^+_1) > 1.6 x 10^23 y (at 90% C.L.).Comment: 23 pages, 7 figures, 4 tables, submitted to Nucl. Phy
de 21 taxones: Notorynchus primigenius, Squalus sp., Carcharocles megalodon, Isurus desori, I.
hasta/is, Megascy/iorhinus miocaenicus, Premontreia (Oxyscy/lium) cf. dachiardi, Mustelus sp.,

Android malware detection through generative adversarial networks
© 2019 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. Mobile and cell devices have empowered end users to tweak their cell phones more than ever and introduce applications just as we used to with personal computers. Android likewise portrays an uprise in mobile devices and personal digital assistants. It is an open-source versatile platform fueling incalculable hardware units, tablets, televisions, auto amusement frameworks, digital boxes, and so forth. In a generally shorter life cycle, Android also has additionally experienced a mammoth development in application malware. In this context, a toweringly large measure of strategies has been proposed in theory for the examination and detection of these harmful applications for the Android platform. These strategies attempt to both statically reverse engineer the application and elicit meaningful information as features manually or dynamically endeavor to quantify the runtime behavior of the application to identify malevolence. The overgrowing nature of Android malware has enormously debilitated the support of protective measures, which leaves the platforms such as Android feeble for novel and mysterious malware. Machine learning is being utilized for malware diagnosis in mobile phones as a common practice and in Android distinctively. It is important to specify here that these systems, however, utilize and adapt the learning-based techniques, yet the overhead of hand-created features limits ease of use of such methods in reality by an end user. As a solution to this issue, we mean to make utilization of deep learning–based algorithms as the fundamental arrangement for malware examination on Android. Deep learning turns up as another way of research that has bid the scientific community in the fields of vision, speech, and natural language processing. Of late, models set up on deep convolution networks outmatched techniques utilizing handmade descriptive features at various undertakings. Likewise, our proposed technique to cater malware detection is by design a deep learning model making use of generative adversarial networks, which is responsible to detect the Android malware via famous two-player game theory for a rock-paper-scissor problem. We have used three state-of-the-art datasets and augmented a large-scale dataset of opcodes extracted from the Android Package Kit bytecode and used in our experiments. Our technique achieves F1 score of 99% with a receiver operating characteristic of 99% on the bytecode dataset. This proves the usefulness of our technique and that it can generally be adopted in real life
Neutrino accompanied beta^-beta^-, beta^+beta^+, beta^+/EC and EC/EC processes within single state dominance hypothesis
The systematic study of (anti-)neutrino accompanied beta^-beta^-,
beta^+beta^+ decays and beta^+/EC, EC/EC electron captures is performed under
the assumption of single intermediate nuclear state dominance. The
corresponding half-lives are evaluated both for transitions to the ground state
as well as to the 0^+ and 2^+ excited states of final nucleus. It is stressed
that the hypothesis of single state dominance can be confirmed or ruled out by
the precision measurements of the differential characteristics of the
2nbb-decays of 100Mo and 116Cd as well as beta^+/EC electron capture in 106Cd,
130Ba and 136Ce.Comment: 17 pages including 3 eps figur
