    A SUGGESTION ON HOW EDMODO CAN ENCOURAGE A LIFELONG LEARNING

    Edmodo is basically a web application that is similar to Facebook but provides educational tools instead of a social media platform. Edmodo also reinforces classroom activities. Another benefit of Edmodo is that it allows teachers to create online classes. Teachers post assignments, lecture notes, exams, competitions, and also evaluate students and communicate with them via Edmodo. E-Learning makes it possible to learn about information and communication technologies. Applications such as Edmodo Classroom 2.0 makes it possible to learn even outside the classroom. These applications are viewed as solutions to insufficient class hours and issues that are experienced within the class. In the digital age, new generations tend to maintain different opinions and also different learning capabilities. It’s important that we care about how this generation can learn and respond to diverse teaching methods for the sake of their future. Online activities that support learning outside classroom is similar to other learning practices. Life-long learning is important for building the future of our education. A process is alternative to formal education. It has no place and no time. Life-long learning aims to ensure the community are aware of all learning opportunities, it establishes a culture of learning so that people are excited by learning and they can enhance independent learning through technology. Students who use technology as a part of their life makes life-long learning necessary. E-learning environments and mass media are needed in lifelong learning activities to provide learning outside the school. In this study, a course work is explained with using Edmodo for life-long learning. It also explains how the learning continues in online environments and the benefits of life-long learning of Edmodo. In this way, it is thought that the researchers who study same subjects can benefit in an effective way.  Article visualizations

    Human beings are bom with an intense need to explore, interact with, and make sense of their environment. However, with formal schooling, they seem to lose their enthusiasm and passion for learning. This fact implies that the school and its elements such as teachers, subjects, materials, have an important responsibility for increasing student motivation to learn. The aim of this article is to stress the importance of having an intrinsic motivation in English language teaching (ELT). Hence, this article attempts to define motivation, discuss its sources, display its criteria, present ways of increasing motivation and finally suggest some activities.Bireyler, keşfetmek, iletişim kurmak ve çevrelerini anlamak için yoğun bir istek ve ihtiyaçla doğarlar. Ancak, okuldaki eğitimleri başladığında öğrenmeye karşı duydukları bu istek ve arzuyu kaybederler. Bu, okulun ve okuldaki öğelerin (öğretmenler, dersler, materyaller) öğrenmeye karşı duyulan güdünün korunmasında hatla arttırılmasında büyük sorumluluklar taşıdığını göstermektedir. Bu makalenin amacı, içsel güdülenmenin İngilizce öğrenimindeki önemini vurgulamaktır. Bu nedenle, bu makale güdüyü tanımlamayı, güdünün kaynaklarını belirtmeyi, kriterlerini açıklamayı, güdüyü arttırma yollarını sunmayı ve son olarak da İngilizce öğretiminde güdüyü arttırıcı bazı örnek alıştırmalar önermeyi hedeflemektedir

    Necessity and important of electric energy has been on increase because of development in technology and economy. When compared with renewable energy sources, electric energy obtained from fossil fuels has the biggest share. But demand to renewable energy sources has been increased instead of fossil fuels due to carbon dioxide emissions, risk of being used up over and above high energy cost. Distributed energy sources (wind energy, solar energy, fuel cell, etc.) can be installed to close areas to consumers. So distributed energy sources with microgrid design can be used as cost effective, reliable and efficient. Microgrids are small scale energy network that can provide uninterrupted energy with high power quality to different types small load community and can meet technological preferences of consumers so power quality demand. Microgrid systems in interconnected to distribution grid or islanded mode; obtain coordinated operation of energy sources (micro turbines, fuel cells, photovoltaic, etc), storage devices (flywheels, energy capacitors and batteries) and loads. In this study, potential of microgrid system in Turkey and world, technological development at microgrid systems and usage state of these technologies in Turkey and world were evaluated. It was exhibited that attaching importance to microgrid systems provides increment in usage of renewable energy

    Corporate social responsibility: Example of manufacturing enterprises in Aydın Organized Industrial Zone

    Kurumsal toplumsal sorumluluk (KTS), bir kurumun faaliyetlerini yürüttüğü çevrede varlığını sürdürebilmesi için paydaşların beklentilerine uygun bir çalışma stratejisi gütmesidir. Bir kurumun paydaşları onun ekonomik ve toplumsal çevresini oluşturur. İşletmenin çevresini memnun etmesi, çevresine olumlu katkılar yapması pazarda kalıcı olmalarını sağlayabilir. İşletmeler çeşitli nedenlerle toplumsal sorumluluk uygulamalarını geliştirmekte ve toplumun beklentilerini artırmaktadırlar. Bu araştırmanın amacı Aydın Organize Sanayi Bölgesi'ndeki (AOSB) üretim işletmelerinin KTS düzeyini belirlemektir. Araştırma örneği bölgedeki işletmelerden ve paydaşlarından oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın veri toplama yöntemi hazır verilerden yararlanma ve soru sormadır. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak AOSB işletmeleri yöneticileri (sahip yönetici, müdür, müdür yardımcısı) ve AOSB çalışanlarına yönelik iki farklı anket kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada AOSB'deki işletmelerin KTS boyutlarını ortalama düzeyde uyguladıkları görülmüştür. Bölgedeki işletmelerin öncelikli paydaşları müşterileri, işletme sahipleri, çalışanları ve tedarikçileridir. KTS faaliyetlerinden müşterilere ve çalışanlara yönelik olanları ön plana çıkmaktadır. Yaş ve eğitimin paydaşların KTS boyutlarına yönelik algılamalarına etkisi sınırlıdır. Çalışmaya göre yöneticilerin çalışma sürelerinin ve konumlarının KTS boyutlarına yönelik algılamalarında farklılık yoktur. Yöneticiler ve çalışanlar işletmelerin ekonomik boyutu dışındaki KTS boyutlarda farklı algılamalara sahiptir. Sonuçta AOSB işletmelerinin KTS boyutlarını yetersiz de olsa gerçekleştirmeye çalıştıkları söylenebilir.Corporate social responsibility (CSR), for an enterprise is a management strategy where it operates in its environment, in order to survive, according to the expectations of stakeholders. Economic and social environments of an entreprise are composed of its stakeholders. When an entreprise makes a positive contribution to its stakeholders environment, it may provide to be permanent in the market. For various reasons entreprises are improving their social responsibility applications and increasing society's expectations. The aim of this study was to determine the level of CSR of manufacturing enterprises in Aydın Organized Industrial Zone (AOSB). The research sample consisted of the entreprises and their stakeholders in the region. Data collection method of the research was to use secondary data and to ask questions. In research, as a means of data collection, two different surveys were used for executives (owner manager, manager and asistant manager) and employees. In this study, it was found that dimensions of CSR used by the entreprises in AOSB were implemented on an average level. Customers, business owners, employees and suppliers in the region are the primary stakeholders of the companies. Of all entreprises' CSR activities the ones for customers and employees have priority. The impact of age and education issues on stakeholders' perceptions of CSR dimensions was limited. According to the study, towards CSR dimensions, as working times and positions of managers does not have a difference in managers' perceptions. Outside the economic dimension of CSR, managers and employees have different perceptions. As a result, it may be said that AOSB companies tried to applicate the CSR dimensions whether it is unsufficient or not

    The Upright Tiara of the Persian King

    This paper examines a piece ofheadgear, usually referred to in modern literature as a Phrygian or Persian cap, but variously described astiara, kurbasiaor kidaris/kitarisin the ancient sources. According to Greek texts only the Persian king had the right to wear the headgearin an upright position, usually referred to as tiara orthé. The cap was part of the so-called Median riding dress, and was worn together with trousers, a sleeved garment and akandys, i.e. a cloak used as a mantle. On the basis of literary sources and iconographic evidenceit is suggested that tiara orthéreferred to the attached hood of akandys, or alternativelyanother upper garment, in an upraised position, i.e.when it was worn upon the head.
