    PrIC3: Property Directed Reachability for MDPs

    Measurement of the intrinsic damping constant in individual nanodisks of YIG and YIG{\textbar}Pt

    We report on an experimental study on the spin-waves relaxation rate in two series of nanodisks of diameter ϕ=\phi=300, 500 and 700~nm, patterned out of two systems: a 20~nm thick yttrium iron garnet (YIG) film grown by pulsed laser deposition either bare or covered by 13~nm of Pt. Using a magnetic resonance force microscope, we measure precisely the ferromagnetic resonance linewidth of each individual YIG and YIG{\textbar}Pt nanodisks. We find that the linewidth in the nanostructure is sensibly smaller than the one measured in the extended film. Analysis of the frequency dependence of the spectral linewidth indicates that the improvement is principally due to the suppression of the inhomogeneous part of the broadening due to geometrical confinement, suggesting that only the homogeneous broadening contributes to the linewidth of the nanostructure. For the bare YIG nano-disks, the broadening is associated to a damping constant α=4104\alpha = 4 \cdot 10^{-4}. A 3 fold increase of the linewidth is observed for the series with Pt cap layer, attributed to the spin pumping effect. The measured enhancement allows to extract the spin mixing conductance found to be G=1.551014 Ω1m2G_{\uparrow \downarrow}= 1.55 \cdot 10^{14}~ \Omega^{-1}\text{m}^{-2} for our YIG(20nm){\textbar}Pt interface, thus opening large opportunities for the design of YIG based nanostructures with optimized magnetic losses.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

    On the full Boltzmann equations for Leptogenesis

    We consider the full Boltzmann equations for standard and soft leptogenesis, instead of the usual integrated Boltzmann equations which assume kinetic equilibrium for all species. Decays and inverse decays may be inefficient for thermalising the heavy-(s)neutrino distribution function, leading to significant deviations from kinetic equilibrium. We analyse the impact of using the full kinetic equations in the case of a previously generated lepton asymmetry, and find that the washout of this initial asymmetry due to the interactions of the right-handed neutrino is larger than when calculated via the integrated equations. We also solve the full Boltzmann equations for soft leptogenesis, where the lepton asymmetry induced by the soft SUSY-breaking terms in sneutrino decays is a purely thermal effect, since at T=0 the asymmetry in leptons cancels the one in sleptons. In this case, we obtain that in the weak washout regime (K ~< 1) the final lepton asymmetry can change up to a factor four with respect to previous estimates.Comment: 34 pages, 6 figures, to be published in JCA

    Irreversibility in a simple reversible model

    This paper studies a parametrized family of familiar generalized baker maps, viewed as simple models of time-reversible evolution. Mapping the unit square onto itself, the maps are partly contracting and partly expanding, but they preserve the global measure of the definition domain. They possess periodic orbits of any period, and all maps of the set have attractors with well defined structure. The explicit construction of the attractors is described and their structure is studied in detail. There is a precise sense in which one can speak about absolute age of a state, regardless of whether the latter is applied to a single point, a set of points, or a distribution function. One can then view the whole trajectory as a set of past, present and future states. This viewpoint is then applied to show that it is impossible to define a priori states with very large "negative age". Such states can be defined only a posteriori. This gives precise sense to irreversibility -- or the "arrow of time" -- in these time-reversible maps, and is suggested as an explanation of the second law of thermodynamics also for some realistic physical systems.Comment: 15 pages, 12 Postscript figure

    Stability of quantized time-delay nonlinear systems: A Lyapunov-Krasowskii-functional approach

    Lyapunov-Krasowskii functionals are used to design quantized control laws for nonlinear continuous-time systems in the presence of constant delays in the input. The quantized control law is implemented via hysteresis to prevent chattering. Under appropriate conditions, our analysis applies to stabilizable nonlinear systems for any value of the quantization density. The resulting quantized feedback is parametrized with respect to the quantization density.     A multilingual SLU system based on semantic decoding of graphs of words

    In this paper, we present a statistical approach to Language Understanding that allows to avoid the effort of obtaining new semantic models when changing the language. This way, it is not necessary to acquire and label new training corpora in the new language. Our approach consists of learning all the semantic models in a target language and to do the semantic decoding of the sentences pronounced in the source language after a translation process. In order to deal with the errors and the lack of coverage of the translations, a mechanism to generalize the result of several translators is proposed. The graph of words generated in this phase is the input to the semantic decoding algorithm specifically designed to combine statistical models and graphs of words.     Inverse Spin Hall Effect in nanometer-thick YIG/Pt system

    High quality nanometer-thick (20 nm, 7 nm and 4 nm) epitaxial YIG films have been grown on GGG substrates using pulsed laser deposition. The Gilbert damping coefficient for the 20 nm thick films is 2.3 x 10-4 which is the lowest value reported for sub-micrometric thick films. We demonstrate Inverse spin Hall effect (ISHE) detection of propagating spin waves using Pt. The amplitude and the lineshape of the ISHE voltage correlate well to the increase of the Gilbert damping when decreasing thickness of YIG. Spin Hall effect based loss-compensation experiments have been conducted but no change in the magnetization dynamics could be detected

    Production of the neutral top-pion πt0\pi_{t}^{0} in association with a high-pTp_{T} jet at the LHCLHC

    In the framework of the topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2)(TC2) model, we study production of the neutral top-pion πt0\pi_{t}^{0} in association with a high-pTp_{T} jet at the LHCLHC, which proceeds via the partonic processes ggπt0ggg\longrightarrow \pi_{t}^{0}g, gqπt0qgq\longrightarrow \pi_{t}^{0}q, qqˉπt0gq\bar{q}\longrightarrow \pi_{t}^{0}g, gb(bˉ)πt0b(bˉ)gb(\bar{b})\longrightarrow \pi_{t}^{0}b(\bar{b}), and bbˉπt0gb\bar{b}\longrightarrow \pi_{t}^{0}g. We find that it is very challenging to detect the neutral top-pion πt0\pi_{t}^{0} via the process ppπt0+jet+Xttˉ+jet+Xpp\longrightarrow \pi_{t}^{0}+jet+X\to t\bar{t}+jet+X, while the possible signatures of πt0\pi_{t}^{0} might be detected via the process ppπt0+jet+X(tˉc+tcˉ)+jet+Xpp\longrightarrow \pi_{t}^{0}+jet+X\to(\bar{t}c+t\bar{c})+jet+X at the LHCLHC.Comment: 13 pages, 4 figures; typos correcte
