Effectiveness of Low Energy Shock Wave Treatment in Patients with Myofascial Painful Syndrome in the Cervical Spine

V této bakalářské práci je zkoumán efekt aplikace nízkoenergetické rázové vlny u pacientů s myofasciálním bolestivým syndromem krční páteře. V kapitole Současný stav se zabýváme kineziologií krční páteře, charakteristikou myofasciálního bolestivého syndromu, principu jeho vzniku a možnostmi léčby. V následující části této kapitoly je popsán princip rázové vlny, možnosti jejího využití a žádoucí účinky. K ověření pozitivního účinku rázové vlny u myofasciálního bolestivého syndromu jsme pracovali se dvěma skupinami. U všech vybraných probandů bylo provedeno vstupní kineziologické vyšetření a doplňující vyšetřovací test vizuální analogové škály. Zjištěné hodnoty jsou uloženy do tabulky ve Speciální části. Probandům v první skupině byla aplikována rázová vlna, zatímco u druhé kontrolní skupiny byl využit placebo efekt. Placebo efektu bylo dosaženo zamezením vstupu rázové vlny do tkání pacienta při samotné aplikaci. Výsledky obou skupin jsou porovnávány pomocí výstupního kineziologického vyšetření a vizuální analogové škályThis bachelor thesis examines the effect of low energy shock wave application in patients with myofascial painful cervical spine syndrome. In the chapter Current state, we discuss the kinesiology of the cervical spine, the characteristics of myofascial pain syndrome, the principle of its development and treatment options. In the next section of this chapter the principles of shock wave, possibilities of its use and desirable effects are described. To verify the positive effect of the shock wave in myofascial pain syndrome we chose two groups of probands. All selected probands were subjected to an initial kinesiological examination and a supplementary examination of the visual analogue scale. Collected values from the examination are listed in the table in the Special section. Probands in the first group were treated with a shock wave while in the second control group probands received a placebo treatment. The placebo effect was achieved by preventing the shock wave from entering the patient's tissues during application. The results of both groups are compared using the final kinesiological examination and visual analogue scale

It focuses in more detail on analysis of particular activities, which are in the business process. The aim of the analysis is to find the critical points in the process and to suggest appropriate improvements.

Simplified documentation of the sewerage network of the Doubravník

Cílem bakalářské práce je pasport kanalizace v městysi Doubravník. V rámci terénního průzkumu byla zkoumána konstrukce šachet, hloubka přítoků a odtoků potrubí, přítomnost sedimentů a balastních vod a byl posuzován celkový stav kanalizace a objektů na ní. Výstupem práce jsou přehledy šachet podle revizních listů, fotodokumentace, pasport a vyhodnocení technického stavu kanalizace a vytvoření situace širších vztahů, přehledné situace, podrobné situace a hydrotechnické situace stokové sítě městyse Doubravník.Pasport of sewer system in township Doubravník is aim of this bachelor thesis. It was atudied construction of shaft, depth of tributaries and runoffs of pipeline, presence of sediments and balast water and it was assessed the overall condition of sewer and of an objects connected to it during field research. Summary of shafts according to revision sheets, photo dokumentation, posport and evaluation of technical condition of sewer and creation of broader context site plan, sinoptic site plan, detailed site plan and hydrotechnical site plan of sewer network of township Doubravník it work output.

Bioaccumulation and toxicity of selenium compounds in the green alga Scenedesmus quadricauda

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Selenium is a trace element performing important biological functions in many organisms including humans. It usually affects organisms in a strictly dosage-dependent manner being essential at low and toxic at higher concentrations. The impact of selenium on mammalian and land plant cells has been quite extensively studied. Information about algal cells is rare despite of the fact that they could produce selenium enriched biomass for biotechnology purposes.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>We studied the impact of selenium compounds on the green chlorococcal alga <it>Scenedesmus quadricauda</it>. Both the dose and chemical forms of Se were critical factors in the cellular response. Se toxicity increased in cultures grown under sulfur deficient conditions. We selected three strains of <it>Scenedesmus quadricauda </it>specifically resistant to high concentrations of inorganic selenium added as selenite (Na₂SeO₃) – strain SeIV, selenate (Na₂SeO₄) – strain SeVI or both – strain SeIV+VI. The total amount of Se and selenomethionine in biomass increased with increasing concentration of Se in the culturing media. The selenomethionine made up 30–40% of the total Se in biomass. In both the wild type and Se-resistant strains, the activity of thioredoxin reductase, increased rapidly in the presence of the form of selenium for which the given algal strain was not resistant.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The selenium effect on the green alga <it>Scenedesmus quadricauda </it>was not only dose dependent, but the chemical form of the element was also crucial. With sulfur deficiency, the selenium toxicity increases, indicating interference of Se with sulfur metabolism. The amount of selenium and SeMet in algal biomass was dependent on both the type of compound and its dose. The activity of thioredoxin reductase was affected by selenium treatment in dose-dependent and toxic-dependent manner. The findings implied that the increase in TR activity in algal cells was a stress response to selenium cytotoxicity. Our study provides a new insight into the impact of selenium on green algae, especially with regard to its toxicity and bioaccumulation.</p

Biomass is probably the only viable alternative to fossil resources for production of liquid transportation fuels and chemicals since, besides fossils, it is one of the only available sources of carbon-rich material on Earth. Over recent years, interest in microalgae biomass has grown in both fundamental and applied research fields. The biorefinery concept includes different technologies able to convert biomass into added-value chemicals, products (food and feed) and biofuels (biodiesel, bioethanol, biohydrogen). As in oil refinery, a biorefinery aims at producing multiple products, maximizing the value derived from differences in biomass components, including microalgae. This paper provides an overview of the various microalgae-derived products, focusing on anaerobic digestion for conversion of microalgal biomass into methane. Special attention is paid to the range of possible inputs for anaerobic digestion (microalgal biomass and microalgal residue after lipid extraction) and the outputs resulting from the process (e.g. biogas and digestate). The strong interest in microalgae anaerobic digestion lies in its ability to mineralize microalgae containing organic nitrogen and phosphorus, resulting in a flux of ammonium and phosphate that can then be used as substrate for growing microalgae or that can be further processed to produce fertilizers. At present, anaerobic digestion outputs can provide nutrients, CO2 and water to cultivate microalgae, which in turn, are used as substrate for methane and fertilizer generation.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Selected physiotherapeutic aspects in patients with whiplash disability - systematic review

The work is processed in the form of a systematic research. It is about issues related to whiplash syndrome, such as etiology, diagnosis and therapy. The aim of the systematic literature research was to find out what physiotherapeutic procedures have been used for the last five years in the treatment of whiplash syndrome and which procedure appears to be the most effective in reducing pain and improving range of motion. The studies were searched in the following databases: EBSCOhost, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus and Springer. The corresponding studies were searched using keywords which were then sorted using the established criteria. In the final count, 10 studies were identified. Five studies out of ten examined the effect of the procedure of therapy on behavioral intervention in combination with the specific exercise and individual needs of the individual. This therapy focuses as much as possible on the needs and goals of the individual. In the last five years, the effect of distance therapy has been studied in the treatment of whiplash syndrome again with an emphasis on the needs of a particular person. More variables need to be taken to assess the effectiveness of approaches and further studies on therapy of whiplash syndrome would be needed to accurately determine the effect. Keywords...Práce je zpracována formou systematické literární rešerše. Pojednává o problematice týkající se whiplash syndromu, jako je etiologie, diagnostika a terapie. Cílem systematické literární rešerše bylo zjistit jaké fyzioterapeutické postupy se používají v posledních pěti letech v léčbě whiplash syndromu a který postup se jeví jako nejefektivnější z hlediska snížení bolesti a zlepšení rozsahu pohybu. Studie byly hledány v databázích: EBSCOhost, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus a Springer. Prostřednictvím klíčových slov byly vyhledány odpovídající studie, které byly následně protříděny pomocí stanovených kritérií. V konečném počtu bylo identifikováno 10 studií. U pěti studií z deseti byl zkoumán účinek postupu terapie se zaměřením na behaviorální intervenci v kombinaci se specifickým cvičením a individuálními potřebami jedince. Tato terapie se v co největší možné míře zaměřuje na potřeby a cíle jedince. V posledních pěti letech se v léčbě whiplash syndromu zkoumá účinek distanční formy terapie opět s důrazem na potřeby konkrétní osoby. U posouzení efektivity přístupů je potřeba brát v potaz více proměnných a k přesnému určení efektu by bylo zapotřebí dalších studií věnovaných terapii whiplash syndromu. Proposal for Improvement of Services in the Wellness Centre Infinit Maximus

The master thesis deals with the issue of enhancing the quality of providing services in the wellness centre Infinit Maximus. Nowadays the wellness centre provides high quality of services to their clients. However there are some areas that should be improved and that are described in the thesis. During the processing of the thesis I delt with factual economic, operating and technical figures connected to the latest economic activity of the wellness centre. The proposal part includes some suggestions for elimination high deviations of occupancy and some suggestions for reduction the high fluctuation of employees. Instead of the main topic I also suggest some other improvements
