Show Me Your Hands: A Moderator Effect Analysis on Nonverbal Behavior at the Bargaining Table

Does the position of the hands interfere with the outcome of a negotiation? In this research, statistical analysis with N=110 business negotiations addressed to what extent nonverbal reinforcement (BL) moderates the relationship between opening value (OpenVal) and deal value (DealVal) of a face-to-face business negotiation requesting budgetary resources between two parties, with a 99 percent confidence interval. The null hypothesis has been rejected, and the results showed that showing hands (BL=1) was not more significant (B = -.015, p < .969) than hiding hands (BL=0), highly significant (B = 2,323, p <.000), implying that hiding hands produce more adverse results than showing hands at the bargaining table. Finally, the average difference between showing and hiding hands was 20.2 percent in the deal value, suggesting the adoption of nonverbal reinforcement in budgetary negotiations at the bargaining table

Analysis of Average Temperatures And Trends In Brazil: Applying CUSUM Graphic from 2000 to 2014

In recent decades the temperature trends are being confirmed earlier. To determine the temperature changes in Brazil, analysis of annual trends and seasons was carried out based on daily data from 187 weather stations, covering the period from 2000 to 2014. Trends were confirmed using the Cumulative Sum Chart, a method that notices the changes in series faster than others. The modeling of temperature was obtained by Multiple Regression and using Cluster Analysis, and through this it was possible to group weather stations. The observed trends confirmed oscillations in cooling, heating and, in some cases, cooling followed by heating. These main trends presented during the study period were from -15 to 0 in latitude. The region with the highest confirmation of inversions in temperature was the North, then Northeast. Heights below 500 meters presented higher trends. Regarding the seasons, autumn contributed significantly to the trends.Nas últimas décadas as tendências de temperatura estão se confirmando mais rapidamente. Para determinar as mudanças de temperatura no Brasil foi realizada análise das tendências anuais e por estações do ano tendo por base dados diários de 187 estações meteorológicas, abrangendo o período de 2000 a 2014. As tendências foram confirmadas com a utilização do Gráfico de Soma Acumulativa, este método percebe as alterações em séries mais rápido que outros. A modelagem da temperatura foi obtida por Regressão Múltipla e com a Análise de Cluster foi possível agrupar Estações Meteorológicas. As tendências observadas confirmam oscilações de resfriamento, aquecimento e em alguns casos de resfriamento seguido de aquecimento. As principais tendências apresentadas no período estudado foram a partir de -15 até 0° na latitude. A região com maior confirmação de inversões na temperatura foi o Norte, seguida do Nordeste. No Brasil, temos a atividade de mineração de gesso na região nordeste, que se estima ser a maior reserva de gipsita do país, principalmente pela facilidade de exploração e elevado teor de pureza do minério (Conselho de Desenvolvimento de Pernambuco, 1966).Este estudo objetivou analisar de forma qualitativa a saúde de trabalhadores do polo gesseiro no sertão do Araripe, sendo feito esse questionário em uma fábrica de gesso localizada no distrito de Morais em Araripina, Pernambuco.Foi realizada uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa, com participação de 14 funcionários, sendo o total de 17 funcionários registrados e prestadores de serviço, toda a pesquisa foi coletada de forma anônima.O presente estudo foi desenvolvido através de uma análise detalhada das informações disponibilizadas no setor de recursos humanos (RH)da empresa, que forneceu as seguintes informações: gênero dos empregados; área de atuação; idade dos funcionários e o tempo de trabalho. Em momento ulterior, foram elaboradas algumas questões referentes à saúde destes sujeitos, que foram de real necessidade para o caso abordado em questão.Tendo em vista os aspectos observados, pode-se concluir a grande importância do uso de equipamento de proteção individual (EPI) na segurança da saúde do trabalhador, pois maioria dos funcionários na empresa pesquisada não apresentaram resultados na busca por problemas respiratórios, dermatoses ocupacionais e acidentes de trabalho

PROTOCOLO, CARGA IMEDIATA VS TARDIA: VANTAGENS E DESVANTAGENS

The objective of this study is to carry out a literature review on the installation of implants with immediate loading after tooth extraction, using sources obtained from the PubMed, Scielo and Google Scholar platforms. The results reveal that, although the conventional healing process may require months, immediate loading, a technique applied with dental implants, offers the advantage of allowing the patient to leave with a complete dental arch, providing comfortable chewing functionality. This technique replaces permanent teeth with dental implants, following a specific protocol. Treatment with dental implants comprises two distinct phases: surgical and prosthetic. During the procedure, a titanium implant is inserted to anchor the crown, simulating the appearance and function of a natural tooth. The patient's suitability for implant installation is determined by satisfactory oral condition and adequate knowledge of hygiene practices in the oral region.O objetivo deste estudo é realizar uma revisão de literatura sobre a instalação de implantes com carga imediata após extração dentária, utilizando fontes obtidas nas plataformas PubMed, Scielo e Google Acadêmico. Os resultados revelam que, embora o processo de cicatrização convencional possa demandar meses, a carga imediata, uma técnica aplicada com implantes dentários, oferece a vantagem de permitir que o paciente saia com uma arcada dentária completa, proporcionando uma funcionalidade de mastigação confortável. Essa técnica substitui os dentes permanentes por implantes dentários, seguindo um protocolo específico. O tratamento com implantes dentários compreende duas fases distintas: a cirúrgica e a protética. Durante o procedimento, um implante de titânio é inserido para ancorar a coroa, simulando a aparência e função de um dente natural. A aptidão do paciente para a instalação de implantes é determinada pela condição oral satisfatória e pelo conhecimento adequado das práticas de higiene na região oral

Empreendimento social: como fazê-lo - canoas de pano / Social enterprise: how to do it - canoas de pano

Canoas de Pano é um projeto desenvolvido pela Enactus UFRJ em conjunto a comunidade de Vila Canoas, em São Conrado - RJ. Trata-se, basicamente, da origem de um empreendimento onde uma cooperativa de mulheres que, a partir de um curso de costura, produz bolsas com tecidos reutilizáveis e gere a marca, para posterior venda, possibilitando complemento de suas rendas. Este projeto possui um significado especial para o time por ser o projeto-piloto idealizado pela Enactus UFRJ e por ser o primeiro a conseguir alcançar seu objetivo de gerar um empreendimento. A seguir, serão mostrados fatos que foram diretamente responsáveis pelo desenvolvimento do projeto até a situação atual onde tem-se a marca consolidada.

Effects of Mimosa caesalpiniifolia pre-formulation on the intestinal barrier during sodium dextran sulfate-induced colitis in Wistar rats

Introduction. Anti-inflammatories, immunosuppressants, and immunobiological are commonly used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. However, some patients do not present an adequate response or lose effective response during the treatment. A recent study found a potential anti-inflammatory effect of the hydroalcoholic extract of Mimosa caesalpiniifolia on trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid-induced colitis in Wistar rats. Objective. To evaluate the effects of M. caesalpiniifolia pre-formulation on the intestinal barrier using dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis model. Materials and methods. Leaf extracts were prepared in 70% ethanol and dried with a Buchi B19 Mini-spray dryer using 20% Aerosil® solution. Thirty-two male Wistar rats were randomized into four groups: basal control, untreated colitis, pre-formulation control (125 mg/kg/day), and colitis treated with pre-formulation (125 mg/kg/day). Clinical activity index was recorded daily and all rats were euthanized on the ninth day. Colon fragments were fixed and processed for histological and ultrastructural analyses. Stool samples were collected and processed for analysis of the short-chain fatty acid. Results. Treatment with the pre-formulation decreased the clinical activity (bloody diarrhea), inflammatory infiltrate, and the ulcers. Pre-formulation did not repair the epithelial barrier and there were no significant differences in the goblet cells index. There was a significant difference in butyrate levels in the rats treated with the pre-formulation. Conclusions. The pre-formulation minimized the clinical symptoms of colitis and intestinal inflammation, but did not minimize damage to the intestinal barrier

Checklist of the dipterofauna (Insecta) from Roraima, Brazil, with special reference to the Brazilian Ecological Station of Maracá

Roraima is a Brazilian state located in the northern portion of the Amazon basin, with few studies regarding its biodiversity. The Ecological Station of Maracá (Brazil, state of Roraima) harbors the third largest Brazilian pluvial island and is composed of a transitional landscape of savanna and Amazon rainforest components. Despite its ecological importance and strategic localization, few studies covered the dipterofauna of this locality. An updated checklist addressing 41 families of true flies (Diptera) occurring in Roraima is presented based on the literature and the specimens collected during a field expedition that occurred in 2015. This checklist brings several improvements such as new records of 165 taxa to the state of Roraima, 29 taxa to Brazil, and 259 morphotypes, mostly likely representing undescribed species
