uma visão unificada dos diferentes modelos com base em métodos estatísticos. É
proposta uma notação comum para os mesmos conceitos apresentados por modelos
diferentes evitando-se assim a grande diversidade das notações existentes,
identificando-se os requisitos para um índice flexível capaz de fornecer matéria-prima

Volumetric and chromatic reintegration in conservation of in situ glazed tiles
Volumetric and chromatic reintegration is one of the most important but challenging
treatments in conservation of in situ glazed tiles due to the need to protect them from water intrusion and further deterioration despise the demanding conditions and requirements needed in outdoor exposure.
A set of six infill pastes based on aerial lime, hydraulic lime, aerial lime plus vinylic resin, epoxy resin and polyester resin binders was selected based on materials applied in previously reported interventions and the experience of professionals working in the field.
The laboratory studies included the characterization of the infill pastes with and without chromatic reintegration/coating layer (SEM, MIP, porosity, water absorption, water vapour permeability, adhesion to the ceramic) and their behaviour after cure, artificial ageing (salt ageing, UV-Temp-RH cycles) and natural ageing. The results obtained allowed to formulate some considerations about these materials, their different characteristics and their
performance when applied in the infill of architectural tile lacunae. The laboratory results have been compared with the performance of similar treatments surveyed on sites where they had been applied
Comparison of iodine content in dairy products and non-dairy beverages consumed in Portugal
Os lacticínios per tencem ao grupo de alimentos com maior teor de iodo.
Atualmente, cada vez mais a população por tuguesa está a substituir os
lacticínios por bebidas vegetais. Como estas bebidas têm geralmente
teores de iodo baixo, leva-nos a uma preocupação acrescida sobre o impacto
desta popularidade das bebidas vegetais nas necessidades de iodo
nos consumidores. O iodo é um micronutriente essencial para a síntese
das hormonas da tireoide, presente em pequenas quantidades no corpo
humano. O principal objetivo deste trabalho foi a determinação de iodo
em lacticínios e bebidas vegetais consumidas em Por tugal. A metodologia
escolhida para a quantificação deste nutriente foi a espectrometria de
massa acoplada a plasma indutivo (ICP-MS) precedida por extração em
meio básico com placa de aquecimento de grafite. Foram analisadas 41
amostras, 15 leites, 20 iogur tes e 6 bebidas vegetais comercializadas por
marcas de grande aceitação pela população por tuguesa. Verificou-se que
os iogur tes apresentavam maiores concentrações de iodo, seguido do leite
e por fim, as bebidas vegetais. Estas apresentaram na sua maioria valores
inferiores ao limite de quantificação. Estes resultados levam-nos a concluir
que as populações com dietas restritas em lacticínios (intolerância à lactose,
alergia à proteína do leite ou vegans) poderão ter um risco acrescido de
uma ingestão inadequada em iodo.Dair y products belong to the food group with higher iodine content. Nowadays,
the Por tuguese population is increasingly replacing dair y products
for non-dair y beverages. As these beverages are generally low in iodine
content, it leads to an impact on iodine status in consumers due to an
increased popularity of non-dair y beverages. Iodine is an essential micronutrient
for the synthesis of thyroid hormones, present in small amounts in
the human body. The main objective of this work was the determination of
iodine in dair y products and non-dair y beverages consumed in Por tugal.
The methodology for the quantification of this nutrient was inductively coupled
plasma mass spectrometr y (ICP-MS) preceded by basic ex traction in
graphite heating block. We analysed 41 samples, 15 milks, 20 yoghur ts and
6 non-dair y beverages marketed by brands of great acceptance by the Portuguese
population. Yoghur ts had higher iodine concentrations, followed
by milk and finally non-dair y beverages. Most of non-dair y beverages presented
values below the limit of quantification. Therefore, populations with
restricted diets in dair y products (lactose intolerance, milk protein allergy
or vegans) may lead to an inadequate intake of iodine.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Histomorfologia intestinal de Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum alimentado com colostro bovino como fonte de proteína e peptídeos bioativos
Histological responses of the intestine are key for evaluating nutritional value of feed ingredients, since the organ is not only the chief site of feed digestion and nutrient absorption but also plays an important immunological function. Histomorphological alterations were evaluated in the intestine of juvenile striped catfish, Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum, fed diets containing 0 (control), 10 or 20% inclusion of lyophilized bovine colostrum (LBC), as source of protein or bioactive peptides, for either 30 or 60 days. Fish fed 20LBC presented at 60d a distinct pattern of macrophages and, some of them, higher number of vacuoles in rectum mucosa. The thickness of the muscle layer (TML) in fish fed diets with LBC was higher in the first portion of medium intestine than fish fed 0LBC. All fish presented significant increase of TML in the second portion of medium intestine along feeding period, but fish fed 20LBC had smaller values of TML than those of fish fed 0 and 10LBC which might be related to the higher intestinal coefficient found for this group. The TML of rectum was higher just for fish fed 10LBC. Dietary LBC altered morphometrical features of juvenile striped catfish intestine and possibly induced inflammatory reaction in the rectal mucosa, as a function of level of inclusion, feeding period and segment of intestine analyzed.Respostas histológicas do intestino são fundamentais para avaliar o valor nutritivo de ingredientes alimentares, uma vez que o órgão não é só o principal local de digestão e absorção dos nutrientes, mas também exerce uma importante função imunológica. Alterações histomorfológicas foram avaliadas no intestino de juvenis de cachara, Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum, alimentado com dietas contendo 0 (controle), 10 e 20% de inclusão de colostro bovino liofilizado (CBL) como fonte de proteína e peptídeos bioativos, aos 30 e 60 dias. Aos 60 dias, peixes alimentados com 20CBL apresentaram macrófagos de aspecto distinto e alguns, uma grande concentração de vacúolos na mucosa retal. A espessura da camada muscular (ECM) em peixes alimentados com CBL foi maior na primeira porção do intestino médio em relação àqueles alimentados com 0CBL. Ao longo do período experimental, todos os peixes mostraram aumento significativo na ECM na segunda porção do intestino médio, entretanto peixes do grupo 20CBL tiveram menores valores para a ECM do que os demais, o que pode estar relacionado com o maior coeficiente intestinal encontrado para este grupo. A ECM no reto foi maior apenas para os peixes alimentados com 10CBL. Study of Calcium Ethoxide as a New Product for Conservation of Historical Limestone
The combination of multiple physical, chemical and biological factors causes the weathering
of limestone used in the field of cultural heritage. To overcome the limitations of traditional
consolidating products and to meet the requirements of the historical building substrates, during
the European collaborative project NANOMATCH, alkaline earth alkoxides were developed and
studied as consolidating agents for limestone. Among these new products, calcium ethoxide, with the
formula Ca(OEt)2, was chosen for this study and investigated in depth as an alternative consolidating
treatment. It was first characterized through a study of the carbonation process: its kinetics, reaction
pathway and the evaluation of formed mineralogical phases. Subsequently, it was applied on
limestones with different total open porosity to test its performance as a consolidating agent.
The compatibility and the efficiency of the treatment were investigated with a multi-technique
approach and compared with results obtained with a reference product, based on nanolime.
This study indicates that calcium ethoxide shows better results with respect to the reference product,
both in terms of compatibility and consolidation effect
Nutritional aspects and lifestyle related to depressive symptoms: a case-control study
Depression is a mental condition that affects more than 322 million people worldwide. The nutritional status of individuals diagnosed with depression may change. Individuals with depression may experience changes in eating habits and weight changes. The main objective of this study is to relate the nutritional aspect and lifestyle of depressive patients with the symptoms presented. Through a case-control study, nutritional status, depressive symptoms with the Beck II Inventory, physical activity, tobacco and alcohol consumption, and family history were investigated. The sample consisted of 389 individuals (217 depressive and 172 controls) with a mean age of 45.6±15.6 years (range 16 to 83 years), most of them female (78.1%). In the results obtained, most patients with depression had severe symptoms of depression. Depression was associated with a higher body mass index (BMI) and obesity. Patients with depression were less likely to consume alcohol but more likely to smoke. It is concluded that individuals with depression have a higher prevalence of overweight, smoking, family history of depression and use of medications. A multidisciplinary approach is critical for treating depression and improving patients' quality of life
Calcium Ethoxide as Consolidant for Porous Limestones: Influence of the Solvent
Calcium ethoxide nanosuspension, a consolidating product developed during the European Nanomatch project, is here modified by adding two different solvents, 2-butanol and n-butylacetate, chosen for their different boiling points with respect to ethanol, the solvent employed in a previous work to dilute the original product. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (µFT-IR) was used to understand how the presence of these new solvents can influence the kinetics of the carbonation process and the pathway reaction. Furthermore, coatings derived from nanosuspensions were maintained for specific time intervals at controlled relative humidity conditions (RH = 50% and RH = 90%); the formed mineralogical phases were characterized by µFT-IR and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Results indicate that the used solvents can influence the kinetic and reaction pathways, while the phases formed at the end of the carbonation process are influenced by both solvents and RH conditions. The effectiveness of calcium ethoxide based product diluted in 2-butanol and n-butylacetate as limestone consolidants was evaluated with drilling resistance measurement system (DRMS) and ultrasound pulse velocity (UPV). The impact on color coordinates was also assessed. The results were compared with those obtained with the same product diluted in ethanol and a commercial nanolime.
