Most of student satellite missions are based on the design, construction and launch of a picosatellite (cubesat) including the design of the ground station (GS). Traditional GS are based on commercial elements and are designed to support only one mission. These stations access the mission data very inefficiently, as only contact the satellite during short visibility periods. In this paper, we present a novel GS concept based on software defined radio technology that can be integrated in a global network for satellite tracking. The station will be implemented by a group of students as a part of a space project under the supervision of a faculty coordinator. The design must fulfil the requirements of low cost, remote operation, and flexibility to operate in different frequency bands. The set-up of this mid-term educational space project to build an operational GS will hopefully motivate Telecommunication Engineering students to participate and gain real hands-on experience in an international space environment

Fascitis necrotizante monomicrobiana por Klebsiella pneumoniae

    Get PDF

Cystic adenoid carcinoma is one of the most common malignancies in the salivary glands; it is an infiltrative tumor, recurrent, of slow growth, with perineural and perivascular extension. The objective of this work is to report about a female patient of 62 years who presented a strong right facial asymmetry, soft tissue mass on the yugal mucous without massive bone infiltration and destruction on the same side. Through an incisional biopsy a cystic adenoid carcinoma was diagnosed and imaging studies showed multiple lung metastases. Clinical and histopathologic features of this neoplasm are highlighted and guidelines are established in oncospecific treatment in which is included, as a priority, the microscopic examination of the lesion set.

Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) has emerged over the past decade as a new and promising intervention for the Haemato-Oncologic patients or those who have a sensitive tumour to intensive chemotherapy. The application of high-dose of intensive chemotherapy reduces the relapse risk of the illness, increases survival and the possibility of total recovery on the vast majority of cases. However, the patients undergoing this treatment may experience several and multiple potential stressors on long, medium and short term basis. The quality care requires a personal, multidimensional, integral and interdisciplinary approach of these patients and their relatives during the different stages of the treatment. A proposal of a psycho-educational program is presented in order to help patients face the BMT, starting the transplant on the best conditions as possible and facilitating their adaptation during the whole process. This intervention is being realized in the Haematology and Hemotherapy Service on the University Hospital La Paz, Madrid, where 450 patients and their relatives have already participate

The partitioning of trace elements and the influence of the feed conditions (50:50 coal/pet-coke feed blend and limestone addition) was investigated in this study. To this end feed fuel, fly ash and slag samples were collected under different operational conditions at the 335 MW Puertollano IGCC power plant (Spain) and subsequently analysed. The partitioning of elements in this IGCC plant may be summarised as follows: (a) high volatile elements (70–>99% in gas phase): Hg, Br, I, Cl and S; (b) moderately volatile elements (up to 40% in gas phase and 60% in fly ash): As, Sb, Se, B, F, Cd, Tl, Zn and Sn; (c) elements with high condensation potential: (>90% in fly ash): Pb, Ge, Ga and Bi; (d) elements enriched similarly in fly ash and slag 30–60% in fly ash: Cu, W, (P), Mo, Ni and Na; and (e) low volatile elements (>70% in slag): Cs, Rb, Co, K, Cr, V, Nb, Be, Hf, Ta, Fe, U, Ti, Al, Si, Y, Sr, Th, Zr, Mg, Ba, Mn, REEs, Ca and Li. The volatility of As, Sb, and Tl and the slagging of S, B, Cl, Cd and low volatile elements are highly influenced by the fuel geochemistry and limestone dosages, respectively

This study is carried out to asses the use of a methodology and its application in designing a set up for nanofiltration and reverse osmosis membranes as conditioning of feed boiler water depending on wáter salinity. The used model is one based in the fine porous principle because is the best for nanofiltration and reverse osmosis membranes. It is necessary to know quality feed water and volume per second. The design has a thirty per cent recovery of the permeate feed water. The hydraulics study determinate elements number, energy losses, tangential speed, the permeation and rejection concentrations of membranes, volume of water rejection and jump power. The optimal result is with 0.06 and 0.6 mg/1 of calcium and necessary unadulterated water volume.

Four novel CeIII mononuclear complexes of formulas [Ce(ntfa)3(MeOH)2] (1), [Ce(ntfa)3(5,5′-Me2bipy)] (2), [Ce(ntfa)3(terpy)] (3), and [Ce(ntfa)3(bipy)2] (4), where ntfa = 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(naphthalen-2-yl)butane-1,3-dionato, 5,5′-Me2bipy = 5,5′-dimethyl-2,2′-dipyridyl, terpy = 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine, and bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine, have been synthesized and structurally characterized with CeIII displaying coordination numbers of 8, 8, 9, and 10, respectively. Magnetic measurements indicate that all the complexes show a field-induced single-ion magnet behavior under a small applied dc field. The magnetic analysis shows the relevance of the different spin relaxation mechanisms in the magnetic relaxation of the CeIII compounds, with special emphasis on the local-mode process. Multiconfigurational calculations were also performed to get more information on the axiality of the compounds
