    Resumo O estudo que se apresenta foi desenvolvido no âmbito da dissertação de Mestrado em Administração Educacional que desenvolvemos. Teve como curiosidade inicial, conhecer e compreender a organização e o funcionamento do Departamento do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico de um colégio privado, centrando-se as atenções nas dimensões sociais, dinâmicas e acções dos respectivos docentes. Adoptando uma metodologia qualitativa, conjugámos a análise documental, focus group e entrevistas semiestruturadas, envolvendo um conjunto de oito participantes. Das reflexões finais que a triangulação de dados seguida de análise de conteúdo nos permitiram, destacamos a importância do Projecto Educativo enquanto elemento estruturante e orientador da acção dos professores e da escola como um todo organizacional. Manifestando todos os participantes um bom conhecimento da visão, missão e objectivos nele plasmados, percebemos que dele resulta uma partilha de responsabilidades e compreendemos que as funções de cada elemento são bem definidas e assumidas em grupo. Identificamos ainda o importante papel da gestão intermédia, reconhecendo na directora do 1º Ciclo um elemento fundamental na promoção das interacções entre pares e de práticas colaborativas entre eles e com as famílias. Compreendemos que ainda há um caminho a percorrer, no sentido da cooperação no Departamento e entre Departamentos, pelo que um investimento em formação e desenvolvimento profissional nos pareceram relevantes para um emergente desenvolvimento organizacional. Apontamos necessidades de espaços sociais, onde o trabalho conjunto, a partilha de experiências e as dinâmicas interactivas sejam os alicerces para a construção de projectos comuns e espaços onde todos aprendam

    Disentangling the influence of environment, host specificity and thallus differentiation on bacteria communities in siphonous green seaweeds

    Siphonous green seaweeds, such as Caulerpa, are among the most morphologically complex algae with differentiated algal structures (morphological niches). Caulerpa is also host to a rich diversity of bacterial endo- and epibionts. The degree to which these bacterial communities are species-, or even niche-specific remains largely unknown. To address this, we investigated the diversity of bacteria associated to different morphological niches of both native and invasive species of Caulerpa from different geographic locations along the Turkish coastline of the Aegean sea. Associated bacteria were identified using the 16S rDNA marker gene for three morphological niches, such as the endobiome, epibiome, and rhizobiome. Bacterial community structure was explored and deterministic factors behind bacterial variation were investigated. Of the total variation, only 21 .5% could be explained. Pronounced differences in bacterial community composition were observed and variation was partly explained by a combination of host species, biogeography and nutrient levels. The majority of the explained bacterial variation within the algal holobiont was attributed to the micro-environments established by distinct morphological niches. This study further supports the hypothesis that the bacterial assembly is largely stochastic in nature and bacterial community structure is most likely linked to functional genes rather than taxonomy

    Actin is a key protein building block of actin microfilaments, which are constructed and deconstructed in response to cellular signaling pathways to regulate cellular processes such as motility, division, and endocytosis. Arp2/3 Complex is a 7-subunit protein complex that is in involved in cellular construction of branched actin networks, functioning by attaching to the side of a pre-existing actin filament and nucleating a daughter branch. Overexpression of Arp2/3 complex has been linked to the ability of certain metastatic cancers to proliferate. This work describes the synthesis and in vitro biochemical testing of several molecules predicted by computational docking to be inhibitors of Arp2/3 Complex, and therefore of potential interest in clinical applications. A bulk actin polymerization assay is used as the key method to determine the potency of inhibitor candidates. Structure-activity relationships derived from these results are also discussed

    Con la llegada del EEES se ha fomentado el uso de la evaluación continuada como un ingrediente de la docencia de calidad que permite al alumno mantenerse puntualmente informado de su progreso en el proceso de aprendizaje. Este trabajo se centra en el uso de la autoevaluación y la evaluación entre iguales como base para conseguir esta evaluación continuada. En él detallamos la experiencia, durante los cursos 2008/09 y 2009/10, del uso de estas dos herramientas de aprendizaje en el contexto de una asignatura de redes de ordenadores de tercer curso de Ingeniería Técnica en Informática de Gestión.SUMMARY: The use of continuous assessment has been encouraged in the adaptation to the European Higher Education Area. It is considered an ingredient to the high quality teaching that allows the student to have a fast feedback of her/his learning progress. This work focuses in the use of self assessment and peer assessment as the basis for a continuous evaluation system. We detail our experience during the years 2008/09 and 2009/10 on using such teaching tools in the context of a subject on computer networks.Peer Reviewe

    Molecular identification of the tropical seagrass Halophila stipulacea from Turkey

    Halophila stipulacea (Forsskål) Ascherson, a tropical seagrass, is thought to be a Lessepsian immigrant that entered the Mediterranean Sea from the Red Sea after the opening of the Suez Canal (1869). Up to date, no genetic studies of H. stipulacea from Turkey are available. In order to verify the molecular identity of Turkish isolates of H. stipulacea, a part of the rDNA ITS region was sequenced. Comparisons of the genetic polymorphism of this region between isolates from the Turkish coasts of the Aegean Sea and individuals from putative native (Red Sea) and introduced (Mediterranean) populations deposited previously in GenBank were performed. No intra-individual variability was found in the region considered among the isolates from Turkey

    [ES] El análisis de la morfología corneal es un procedimiento muy útil en el diagnóstico clínico de determinadas patologías oculares, especialmente las relacionadas con alteraciones ectásicas corneales. Desde la aparición de los sistemas basados en Discos de Plácido a los sistemas que incorporan la fotografía Scheimpflug, existe una variedad de instrumentos que ofrecen la posibilidad de analizar con gran precisión parámetros de la morfología corneal. En esta comunicación se revisan los diversos instrumentos que han sido utilizados para caracterizar la morfología corneal, estando todos influenciados, en mayor o menor medida, por factores como la rapidez de adquisición de datos y la estabilidad de la película lagrimal. [ENG] The analysis of the corneal shape is a very useful process that permits the clinical diagnosis of determined ocular pathologies, especially those related with corneal ectatic disorders. From the appearance of the systems based on the Placido-disc technology to the new systems that combine the accurate Scheimpflug photography, there are a variety of ophthalmic instruments that permit to analyze with high accuracy some parameters of the corneal shape. This communication reviews the different systems that have been used to characterize the corneal morphology, being all of them influenced, to a greater or lesser extent, by factors such as the speed for data acquisition and the stability of the tear film.Centro Universitario de la Defensa.     Wavelet Transform-Based Phylogenetic Analysis of Protein Sequences

    With the acceleration of gene sequencing studies, many biological data emerges. By analyzing these data, it contributes greatly to the studies on understanding the metabolic disorders in the organism and increasing the efficiency of the drugs. For this purpose, it is critical to classify the data in a way that is accurate, fast and low-cost according to its characteristics and relationships. Besides experimental methods, machine learning and bioinformatics methods are used. Artificial neural networks, support vector machines, flexible calculation methods are frequently used methods. However, the effectiveness of these methods on biosecence data depends on the method of using the method with the most appropriate parameters and converting protein sequences into numerical sequences. When the sequences are transformed with amino acid frequencies, the properties of amino acids are ignored. For this purpose, handling the physicochemical (hydrophobicity, hydrophilicity ...) properties of amino acids increases the performance of classification techniques. The phylogenetic tree is the best method to visualize the classification among species. In the project, the wavelet transform used in the analysis of digital signals has been adapted to protein sequences defined by hydrophobicity values. Each protein sequence was defined to correspond to a signal, the wavelet transform was divided into approach and detail components, and the similarities between them were calculated, and the phylogenetic tree of the species was created. As an application, phylogenetic trees of ND5 protein sequences of 22 species were created in the MatlabR2017 program of NeighborJoining (NJ) and Unweighed Pair Group Method of Aritmetic Averages (UPGMA) methods

    La relación de los resultados del aprendizaje, la metodología docente y la metodología de evaluación

    Actualmente, la formación universitaria en Europa, en general, y en España, en particular, está siendo sometida a un profundo análisis y reflexión sobre sus cometidos últimos. El fin de cualquier proceso formativo es que los estudiantes aprendan. Las partes fundamentales de este proceso son tres: Establecer aquello que debe saber el alumno al final de mismo (los resultados esperados del aprendizaje); la programación de actividades formativas a realizar durante el tiempo de duración de enseñanza (la metodología docente); y el sistema empleado para determinar el nivel de conocimientos adquiridos (la metodología de evaluación). La coordinación entre los resultados del aprendizaje, la metodología docente y la metodología de evaluación es clave para asegurar la bondad del proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje. El presente trabajo muestra la importancia de alinear (coordinar) las tres partes del proceso docente, así mismo, anejo al estudio se acompañan ejemplos de alineación docente de varias asignaturas de carreras técnicas
