Logistics pooling and collaborative transportation systems are relatively new concepts in logistics research, but are very popular in practice. This communication proposes a conceptual framework for logistics and transportation pooling systems, as well as a simulation method for strategic planning optimization. This method is based on a twostep constructive heuristic in order to estimate for big instances the transportation and storage costs at a macroscopic level. Four possible scenarios are explored and commented. Finally, a socio-economic analysis based on 20 semi-directive interviews is presented to propose the limitations and obstacles of logistics poolingLogistics pooling, supply chain management, optimization, group reasoning, simulation

Flexible link arm with a passive gravity compensation mechanism: design and modeling

    Get PDF
[Abstract] The gravity compensation of flexible link manipulators using mechanisms based on counterweights has been previously studied in the research literature. However, as far as we are concerned, no attempt has been done to study the difficulties and benefits of constructing mechanisms for the same purposes based on springs. This paper presents a gravitational mechanism based on springs for a single-link flexible arm. In specific, we address the mechanical design of the mechanism and the dynamic modeling of the resulting system.

This work is concerned with the mechanical design and the description of the different components of a novel mobile base for a flexible mobile manipulator. A flexible mobile manipulator is normally composed of multiple flexible links mounted on a mobile platform. This work is focused on the description of the mobile platform. The mobile platform of this work has two different configurations in order to carry out different tasks. Also, some hypothesis and experimental results are shown in this work as a first step to be able to obtain a kinematic model of the system later.Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte; FPU14/02256Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad; DPI2016-80547-

Spermatozoon ultrastructure of Thysanotaenia congolensis (Cyclophyllidea, Anoplocephalidae, Inermicapsiferinae): phylogenetic implications

    Get PDF
The mature spermatozoon of Thysanotaenia congolensis, an intestinal parasite of black rat Rattus rattus from Cape Verde, is described by means of transmission electron microscopy. The ultrastructural organization of the sperm cell of T. congolensis follows Levron et al.'s type VII of the Eucestoda. It corresponds to a uniflagellate spermatozoon that presents crested bodies, periaxonemal sheath and intracytoplasmic walls, spiralled cortical microtubules and nucleus spiralled around the axoneme. These characteristics are also present in the spermatozoa of other inermicapsiferines and differ from the characters found in species belonging to the remaining subfamilies of anoplocephalids, namely Anoplocephalinae, Linstowiinae and Thysanosomatinae. Several authors consider the family Anoplocephalidae as a polyphyletic group, and its relationships with the Davaineidae are a matter of controversy. The phylogenetic implications of spermatological ultrastructural features present in inermicapsiferines and in the remaining anoplocephalids are discussed, and the available data on anoplocephalids are compared to similar results in davaineids in order to contribute to a better knowledge of relationships between these cyclophyllidean families

Fractional-order identification based on time domain methodology for hydraulic canal system

[Abstract] This paper discusses the identification of hydraulic canal system with a fractional-order model. The identification procedure is carried out by using a time domain technique. A pseudorandom binary signal (PRBS) is considered, the auto-correlation of the input signal, as well as, the impulsive response of the system has been concluded, and the obtained model are discussed in order to show the effect of using the PRBS signal in comparison with a fundamental step signal. Finally, we put the accent into the improvisation of the fractional-order model of the considered prototype that has a significant impact on improving the performance of canal monitoring, control, and supervisory systems.[Resumen] Este artículo discute la identificación del sistema de canal hidráulico con un modelo de orden fraccional.

Podeu consultar el llibre complet a: http://hdl.handle.net/2445/67430The usefulness of the ultrastructural characters of spermiogenesis and of the spermatozoon in the interpretation of relationships in the Platyhelminthes has been widely demonstrated. The present paper provides a review and an update on the ultrastructural knowledge on spermiogenesis and on the spermatozoon in cyclophyllidean cestodes. For each family of cyclophyllideans the pattern of spermiogenesis and the type of sperm cell is provided. Moreover, the most interesting characteristics of both spermiogenesis and the spermatozoon are compiled and illustrated for each family. Finally, new spermatological data on some species of the Anoplocephalidae and the Taeniidae are provided
