The working class representation in dispute: Argentine anti-communism in the conflicts of 1936 and 1937

El presente artículo busca analizar los componentes del discurso y de las prácticas anticomunistas en relación a los conflictos obreros protagonizados por la rama de la construcción en 1936 y en 1937. De esa manera, nos interesa analizar la diferenciación realizada por nacionalistas y católicos respecto a los trabajadores o dirigentes considerados comunistas, al igual que las organizaciones que representaban. Los intentos de disciplinamiento social impartidos por el Estado y sus vínculos con el discurso reaccionario también serán parte de este análisis con el fin de comprender el conjunto de actores y variables que operaron sobre el anticomunismo argentino de entreguerras.This article aims to analyze the components of anti-communism in relation to the labor conflicts of the construction sector in 1936 and 1937. We are interested in analyzing the differentiation made by nationalists and Catholics with respect to communists workers or leaders as well as the organizations they represented. Rightist organizations and parastatal violence in Argentina: a century of relations, affinities and complicities with the State

Distintos intereses han marcado la orientación de los estudios dedicados al desarrollo de las derechas en el siglo XX argentino. Tradiciones intelectuales, redes, organizaciones, vínculos transnacionales y la articulación con diversos actores y agencias, han permitido reconstruir al conjunto de protagonistas que hemos de ubicar dentro del amplio abanico de valores e ideas que asociamos con las identidades políticas que engloba esa clasificación. Esta reconstrucción contribuyó tanto a la caracterización del objeto derechas en sí mismo, como a la comprensión de otros procesos o fenómenos donde las mismas se encontraron involucradas. El Estado fue uno de los interlocutores con el que las derechas establecieron vínculos que, en la mayoría de los casos estudiados, expresaron coincidencias en el desarrollo de proyectos y objetivos políticos. Uno de los elementos destacados que conformó esa intersección ha sido la represión, y dentro de la misma, la violencia paraestatal y cómo la derecha ha confluido en su desarrollo, emergen como aquellas preocupaciones que constituyen el punto de partida de este dossier.Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educació

Comparative evaluation of bacterial and fungal removal of indoor and industrial polluted air using suspended and packed bed bioreactors

Producción CientíficaThe abatement of indoor volatile organic compounds (VOCs) represents a major challenge due to their environmental risk, wide nature and concentration variability. Biotechnologies represent a cost-effective, robust and sustainable platform for the treatment of hazardous VOCs at low and fluctuating concentrations. However, they have been scarcely implemented for indoor air purification. Thus, little is known about the influence of the reactor configuration or the VOC nature and concentration variability on the removal, resilience and the microbial population of bioreactor configurations susceptible to be implemented, both in indoors and industrial environments. The present study aims at comparing the removal performance of four VOCs with different hydrophobicity and molecular structure -acetone, n-hexane, α-pinene and toluene-at two inlet concentrations (5 and 400 mg m−3), which mimics the concentrations of contaminated indoor and industrial air. To this aim a stirred tank, flat biofilm and latex-based biocoated flat bioreactor were comparatively evaluated. The results demonstrated the superior performance of the stirred tank reactor for the removal of hydrophilic VOCs at high inlet concentrations, which achieved removals >99% for acetone and toluene. At low concentrations, the removal efficiencies of acetone, toluene and α-pinene were >97% regardless of the bioreactor configuration tested. The most hydrophobic gas, n-hexane, was more efficiently removed in the flat biofilm reactor without latex. The microbial community analyses showed that the presence of VOCs as the only carbon and energy source didn't promote the growth of dominant bacterial members and the populations independently evolved in each reactor configuration and operation mode. La evaluación en ISEF desde la perspectiva del docente: puesta a punto final

El presente trabajo recopila el recorrido finalizado en 2017 como tesis de grado. Esta investigación centró su interés en indagar las prácticas educativas en las unidades curriculares del tronco común de la Licenciatura en Educación Física del Instituto Superior de Educación Física, puntualmente en relación con las prácticas de evaluación del aprendizaje, las que toman forma en dispositivos que con algún tipo de propósito, fueron puestos en marcha (y creados) por los docentes. Nos ocupamos de saber: tipos, fondos y formas empleadas en ISEF, intentando establecer su relación con el conocimiento surgido en materia de investigación y/o la extensión, en un contexto de referencia universitario Emplea una metodología de corte mixta, aunque con énfasis cualitativo. Entre los procedimientos de rastreo y búsqueda de información se emplearon un cuestionario online aplicado a nivel nacional, análisis de documentos y entrevistas que fueron concentradas en el recorte del grupo de docentes estudiados, situados en esta oportunidad en la sede de Montevideo. Intentando desentramar los complejos fondos de esta práctica es que nos adentramos en este recorrido. Granulosain I, a cysteine protease isolated from ripe fruits of Solanum granuloso-leprosum (Solanaceae)

A new cysteine peptidase (Granulosain I) was isolated from ripe fruits of Solanum granuloso-leprosum Dunal (Solanaceae) by means of precipitation with organic solvent and cation exchange chromatography. The enzyme showed a single band by SDS-PAGE, its molecular mass was 24,746 Da (MALDI-TOF/MS) and its isoelectric point was higher than 9.3. It showed maximum activity (more than 90%) in the pH range 7-8.6. Granulosain I was completely inhibited by E-64 and activated by the addition of cysteine or 2-mercaptoethanol, confirming its cysteinic nature. The kinetic studies carried out with PFLNA as substrate, showed an affinity (Km 0.6 mM) slightly lower than those of other known plant cysteine proteases (papain and bromelain). The N-terminal sequence of granulosain I (DRLPASVDWRGKGVLVLVKNQGQC) exhibited a close homology with other cysteine proteases belonging to the C1A family.Facultad de Ciencias ExactasCentro de Investigación de Proteínas Vegetale

Analysis of University STEM Students’ Mathematical, Linguistic, Rhetorical–Organizational Assignment Errors

Although Error Analysis (EA) has been broadly used in Foreign Language and Mother Tongue learning contexts, it has not been applied in the field of engineering and by STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) students in a systematic way. In this interdisciplinary pilot study, we applied the EA methodology to a wide corpus of exercises and essays written by third-year students of mechanical engineering, with the main purpose of achieving a precise diagnosis of the students’ strengths and weaknesses in writing skills. For the analysis to be as exhaustive as possible, the errors were typologized into three main categories (linguistic, mathematical, and rhetorical–organizational), each of which is, in turn, subdivided into 15 items. The results show that the predominant errors are rhetorical–organizational (39%) and linguistic (38%). The application of EA permits the precise identification of the areas of improvement and the subsequent implementation of an educational design that allows STEM students to improve their communicative strategies, especially those related to the writing skills and, more precisely, those having to do with the optimal use of syntax, punctuation, rhetorical structure of the text, and mathematical coherence
