On the application of extended reality technologies for the evaluation of product characteristics during the initial stages of the product development process
[EN] Fast-growing global markets are forcing companies to continuously re-assess customer needs when designing new products. Product evaluation is a critical task to ensure success, but it can require significant financial and time investments. From an end-user standpoint, consumers must also evaluate multiple design options before purchasing a product, which is often a complex process, especially in online environments where traditional formats coexist with more sophisticated media. Modern extended reality technologies have become an effective tool for product assessment in professional design environments as well as a powerful mechanism for consumers during decision making activities. However, the modality used to view and evaluate the product may affect the perceptual response and thus the user¿s overall evaluation. In this paper, we examine the influence of visual media in product assessment using different designs of a particular product typology. We discuss two studies where a group of participants used the semantic differential technique to evaluate four chair designs displayed in three different media. In our first study, participants used simultaneous evaluation to assess the products as presented in photographs, a non-immersive environment, and an Augmented Reality (AR) experience. In the second study, participants evaluated the product separately as viewed in non-photorealistic rendering, AR, and virtual reality (VR). We used the ¿Aligned Rank Transform¿ proceedings to find differences between groups for the semantic scales, the overall evaluation, the purchasing decision, and the response confidence. Our results show that visual media influences product perception. Certain characteristics in Jordan's physio-pleasure category are particularly significant as perceptual differences are more pronounced. Fecundity, spore recruitment and size in Gelidium sesquipedale (Gelidiales,Rhodophyta)
Gelidium sesquipedale fecundity was quantified by counting tetrasporangial sori and cystocarps per meter squared
and by estimating the number of spores contained inside them . These were obtained by regression on a size metric
of reproductive structures . Tetrasporangial sori length and cystocarp thickness were the best estimators of spore
number. To assess spore recruitment, 12 pottery tiles were fixed to the bottom, and the appearance of small fronds
was monitored.
No clear seasonal pattern of reproduction was found . Tetraspore production peaked in March 1990 with 10.4
x 106 spores m-2, whereas the carpospore peak was lower, 4.9 x 10 5 spores m-2 in July 1989. Recruitment
followed tetraspore peaks . The probability of a G. sesquipedale tetraspore making the transition to a recruit was
4.7 x 10-5. Frond length was significantly related to tetrasporangial sori number, while cystocarp number was
only related to frond branching order. Minimum size for reproduction was 6.9 cm for gametophytes and 5.4 cm for
tetrasporophytes; very rarely were cystocarpic fronds smaller than 9 cm, while tetrasporic fronds were often longer
than 15 cm . Cystocarpic fronds were significantly shorter and had more branches than tetrasporic fronds
La displasia congénita de cadera y el grupo sanguíneo
Este trabajo analiza la relación existente entre la displasia congénita
de la cadera y el grupo sanguíneo.
El estudio comprende 116 recién nacidos diagnosticados de displasia
congenita de cadera a los que se le aplican los parámetros de grupo sanguí-
neo de los sistemas A-B-O y Rh.
Como grupo comparativo se calculan las frecuencias fenotípicas de la
población española y de la población gallega para observar su comportamiento,
lo que nos lleva a la conclusión de que los enfermos con displasia
congénita de cadera presentan un patrón de antígenos eritrocitarios de
superficie propio y distinto de la población normal.This work analyse the relationship between the Congenital
Dysplasia of the Hip and blood group.
116 newborns diagnosed of Congenital Hip Dysplasia are included
in the study, and in all of them are applied the parameters of
ABO and Rh groups.
As comparative group, it comput e the phenotypic frecuencies
of Spanish and galician population to observe their behaviour.
They conclude that the patients with Congenital Dysplasia of the
Hip show a pattern of erythrocytic antigens of surface own and
different of the normal population

Quality criteria of physiotherapy grade (diploma): report provided by the Spanish Association and Physiotherapists
[Resumen] El informe sobre criterios de calidad específicos de recursos materiales y profesorado para el título de grado de Fisioterapia ha sido elaborado por la Asociación Española de Fisioterapeutas que convocó, con tal finalidad, a una comisión de expertos en Educación en Fisioterapia. El documento, realizado a propuesta de la Dirección General de Universidades en diciembre de 2004, tiene por objetivo el establecer los criterios mínimos de recursos materiales y humanos derivados de la especificidad de la titulación de Fisioterapia, que permita cubrir las nuevas demandas de la sociedad. En relación a los recursos materiales, se ha procurado darle un suficiente grado de especificación cuantitativa y cualitativa a los instrumentos que constituyen los recursos materiales específicos. La intención es, así mismo, facilitar su valoración en el momento de acreditar la titulación. Se abordan, por una parte, los recursos específicos de la titulación para la docencia teórico-práctica en el centro, dentro de los laboratorios destinados a tal efecto. Por otra parte, se definen las características o perfil de los centros sociosanitarios donde debe impartirse la formación clínica del alumno. En relación a los recursos humanos, se hace especial hincapié en el perfil y la experiencia del profesorado para la docencia, así como en el ratio profesor-alumno en la formación práctica y en la formación clínica.[Abstract] The report about specific quality criteria of resources material (items) and teaching profession to obtain the Physiotherapy Grade, has been elaborated by the Spanish Association of Physiotherapists, which aimed to convoke a Physiotherapy Education experts commission. The document was carried out on Universities General Chairmene’s proposal, aiming to establish the minimum criteria of human and Material (Items) resources, derived from the specific Physical Therapy Grade (Diploma), Which may cover the latest Society requirements. According to the Material resources, there has been a serious attempt to give the instruments, which constitute the specific material resources, an appropriate degree, quantitative and qualitative specification. The main intention by itself, consists of providing its assessment when the time to accredit the title comes. On the one hand the specific resources of the Physiotherapy Grade for the Theoric-practical Teaching in the Centre are taken up even in the laboratories aimed to get such goal. On the other hand we define the characteristics or the profile of the social. Health centres, where Pupils’ Clinical Education, must be carried out. Relating to the Human Resources, we do underline the Teaching Profession experience and profile, as well as the rate Teacher-Pupil, both in the practical Training and the Clinical Education, too
Depression in internal medicine inpatients at the time of hospital discharge and referral to primary care
Background and objectives: This is the first multi-center study intended to document the prevalence, characteristics, and associations of depression in Medicine patients at the time of hospital discharge and their referral to Primary Care (PC). Methods: Adult patients randomly selected among consecutive admissions to Medicine wards in 8 hospitals in Spain, covering health districts, were examined in a two-phase ''case-finding'' procedure. Standardized, Spanish versions of instruments were used, including the Standardized Polyvalent Psychiatric Interview (SPPI) and Cumulative Illness Rating Scale (CIRS). Cases of depression were diagnosed according to ICD-10 general hospital research criteria. Results: Three hundred and twelve patients with treatable depression and 777 non-depressed controls were identified. In a conservative estimate, the global prevalence of major depression was 7.1%, dysthymia 4.2% and adjustment depression 7.1%, and 51.9% of cases were of moderate/ severe intensity. Depression was more frequent in women, the differences being significant in all categories of depression. The prevalence of depression was lower in individuals aged 85 or more years, the differences being significant in cases of both dysthymia and adjustment depression. A clear pattern of decreasing prevalence with age was observed in women. The depressed had as an average five medical systems affected, and higher CIRS scores compared with the controls, the differences being significant in cases of both major depression and dysthymia. Conclusions: This is the first report showing a considerable prevalence of treatable cases of depression in Medicine patients at the time of hospital discharge and referral to PC. Depression is associated with the severity of the medical condition, and differences observed by age and sex have clinical implications. Revisiting the design intent concept in the context of mechanical CAD education
[EN] Design intent is generally understood simply as a CAD model¿s anticipated behavior when altered.
However, this representation provides a simplified view of the model¿s construction and purpose,
which may hinder its general understanding and future reusability. Our vision is that design intent
communication may be improved by recognizing the multifaceted nature of design intent, and by
instructing users to convey each facet of design intent through the better-fitted CAD resource. This
paper reviews the current understanding of design intent and its relationship to design rationale and
builds on the idea that communication of design intent conveyed via CAD models can be satisfied
at three levels provided that specialized instruction is used to instruct users in selection of the most

PEtab -- interoperable specification of parameter estimation problems in systems biology
Reproducibility and reusability of the results of data-based modeling studies
are essential. Yet, there has been -- so far -- no broadly supported format for
the specification of parameter estimation problems in systems biology. Here, we
introduce PEtab, a format which facilitates the specification of parameter
estimation problems using Systems Biology Markup Language (SBML) models and a
set of tab-separated value files describing the observation model and
experimental data as well as parameters to be estimated. We already implemented
PEtab support into eight well-established model simulation and parameter
estimation toolboxes with hundreds of users in total. We provide a Python
library for validation and modification of a PEtab problem and currently 20
example parameter estimation problems based on recent studies. Specifications
of PEtab, the PEtab Python library, as well as links to examples, and all
