IFAC Intelligent Components for Vehicles, Seville, Spain, 1998This paper describes the application of a natural language interface to the teleoperation of a mobile robot. Natural language communication with robots is a major goal, since it allows for non expert people to communicate with robots in his or her own language. This communication has to be flexible enough to allow the user to control the robot with a minimum knowledge about its details. In order to do this, the user must be able to perform simple operations as well as high level tasks which involve multiple elements of the system. For this ones, an adequate representation of the knowledge about the robot and its environment will allow the creation of a plan of simple actions whose execution will result in the accomplishment of the requested tas

IADIS MULTI CONFERENCE ON COMPUTER SCIENCE AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS 2008 Amsterdam, The Netherlands JULY 22 - 24, 2008This paper proposes the employment of the Wii Remote controller, better known as Wiimote, as an useful tool for educators and researchers. The quick development on fields such as Wireless Sensors and Actuators Networks or Hybrid Systems, and their applications, requires engineers with a solid knowledge in these areas. To achieve this goal the Wiimote becomes a great alternative to other options due to its great variety of analog and digital components, for a very low price, and the good documentation about it existing in Internet. As will be seen in this paper, the possible academical and research uses of the Wiimote are almost endless and cover many interesting problems in control engineering

Photon-mediated qubit interactions in one-dimensional discrete and continuous models

In this work we study numerically and analytically the interaction of two qubits in a one-dimensionalwaveguide, as mediated by the photons that propagate through the guide. We develop strategies to assert the Markovianity of the problem, the effective qubit-qubit interactions, and their individual and collective spontaneous emission. We prove the existence of collective Lamb shifts that affect the qubit-qubit interactions and the dependency of coherent and incoherent interactions on the qubit separation. We also develop the scattering theory associated with these models and prove single-photon spectroscopy does probe the renormalized resonances of the singleand multiqubit models, in sharp contrast to earlier toy models in which individual and collective Lamb shifts cancel

Dynamical polaron Ansatz: A theoretical tool for the ultrastrong-coupling regime of circuit QED

13 págs.; 5 figs.In this work we develop a semianalytical variational Ansatz to study the properties of few-photon excitations interacting with a collection of quantum emitters in regimes that go beyond the rotating-wave approximation. This method can be used to approximate both the static and dynamical properties of a superconducting qubit in an open transmission line, including the spontaneous emission spectrum and the resonances in scattering experiments. The approximations are quantitatively accurate for rather strong couplings, as shown by a direct comparison to matrix-product-state numerical methods, and provide also a good qualitative description for stronger couplings well beyond the Markovian regime. ©2016 American Physical SocietyThe authors acknowledge support from Spanish Mineco Project No. FIS2012-33022, CAM Research Network QUITEMAD+, and EU FP7 FET Open project PROMISCE.Peer Reviewe

Verification of the method to determine the moisture content in meat products

MotivationThere are various reason why food industries can determine humidity, becoming highly important the issue of growing microorganisms caused by an excess on water in raw materials. The normative ISO 9001:2015 is essential for the implantation of an improved orientated system having guarantees to comply with the requirements of the product or service as well as meeting customer´s expectations.MethodsThe drying methods are the most common ones to asses food moisture content. Although these methods give good results, it is difficult sometimes to remove all the humidity by drying. It is also important to mention that food can decompose at certain temperature so other substances can volatilize apart from water. Thus, the measurement of weight loss of the sample caused by water evaporation is made with a forced air circulation heater at atmospheric pressure, according to ISO 1442:1997.ResultsDuring the evaluation the checking of the procedures requires the application of uniform and consistent technical criteria.Due to the importance of meat and meat products because of its high protein in the human diet and its huge quantify demand that is analyzed in laboratories, it is observed by graphical representation the tendency of the obtained data. The proper temperature is 105ºC.ConclusionsThe method to quantify the moisture content of various meat products is valid obtaining reliable results with the possibility of itsfuture accreditation

Stability and robustness analysis of cooperation cycles driven by destructive agents in finite populations

The emergence and promotion of cooperation are two of the main issues in evolutionary game theory, as cooperation is amenable to exploitation by defectors, which take advantage of cooperative individuals at no cost, dooming them to extinction. It has been recently shown that the existence of purely destructive agents (termed jokers) acting on the common enterprises (public goods games) can induce stable limit cycles among cooperation, defection, and destruction when infinite populations are considered. These cycles allow for time lapses in which cooperators represent a relevant fraction of the population, providing a mechanism for the emergence of cooperative states in nature and human societies. Here we study analytically and through agent-based simulations the dynamics generated by jokers in finite populations for several selection rules. Cycles appear in all cases studied, thus showing that the joker dynamics generically yields a robust cyclic behavior not restricted to infinite populations. We also compute the average time in which the population consists mostly of just one strategy and compare the results with numerical simulations.Financial support from the Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología (Spain) under Projects No. FIS2009-13730-C02-02 (A.A.) and No. FIS2009-13370-C02-01 (J.C. and R.J.R.), MOSAICO, PRODIEVO, and Complexity-NET RESINEE (J.A.C.); from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and the government of Catalonia (A.A.); from the Generalitat de Catalunya under Projects No. 2009SGR0838 (A.A.) and No. 2009SGR0164 (J.C. and R.J.R.); and from Comunidad de Madrid under Project MODELICO-CM (J.A.C.) is appreciated.
