In the late 15th and early 16th centuries the first printed editions of a series of literary prose works known as the chivalrous novels appeared across most of Europe, including editions in Spanish and Dutch. Their origins can be traced back to the European fictional literature of previous centuries. The role of the printing press was crucial in this development and determined issues such as the choice of texts and versions, depending on the publisher's intentions and readers' expectations. This paper will compare some aspects of several versions of chivalrous novels in Dutch with their Spanish counterparts, as well as looking at the historical and cultural context of these

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WORK-FAMILY CONFLICT AND JOB SATISFACTION: THE MODERATING EFFECT OF GENDER AND THE SALIENCE OF FAMILY AND WORK ROLES

Work-family conflict has become an issue of particular concern to today’s businesses. Its prevalence among employees and the negative consequences of this conflict for one’s job satisfaction has led it to become one of the problems that managers and directors have to deal with most. Although there have been researches into the relationship between work-family conflict and job satisfaction, few studies have analysed the role of gender in this relationship. The objectives of this study are to analyse the moderating role of gender and of the salience of family and work roles in the work-to-family conflict and general job satisfaction, while the job’s characteristics are controlled. 162 workers from a Spanish public organisation took part in the study. The results from the regression analysis confirms the moderating effect of gender on the relationship between work-to-family conflict and job satisfaction, such that women show a lower level of job satisfaction than men. However, the salience of the family and work roles were not found to have a moderating effect on the aforementioned relationship, neither in the case of men nor in women. The results are discussed in the context of the theory of role identity salience and the gender role theory, as well as the possible cultural effects

WORK FAMILY AND FAMILY WORK CONFLICT: DOES INTRINSIC, EXTRINSIC SATISFACTION MEDIATE THE PREDICTION OF GENERAL JOB SATISFACTION?

The objective of this study is to analyze the mediating role of intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction in the relationship between the 2 dimensions of work–family conflict—family interfering with work (FIW) and work interfering with family (WIF)—and general job satisfaction. Step-by-step hierarchical regression analyses were carried out on a sample of 151 men and women from a Spanish public organization. The results confirmed the mediating role of intrinsic job satisfaction in the case of FIW. This highlights the importance of taking into account the level of satisfaction with the intrinsic facets of one’s job as a measure for understanding why FIW has a negative impact on general job satisfaction

Since Brånemark first started developing its implant system, there has been a continuous and significant evolution in oral implantology through experimental and clinical research, and many of the concepts that were once considered valid have now become the subject of debate. The insertion of the implant immediately after extraction of the tooth to be substituted has now become the implant treatment of choice and is associated with preserving the bone structure and the gingival architecture, as well as with reducing the treatment time, which ultimately benefits the patient. Objective: To evaluate the success rate of the immediate post-extraction implants (IPI) subject to immediate loading. Study Design: A meta-analytic study was carried out on 659 immediate post-extraction implants obtained from a bibliographic review of 25 articles published within the last 9 years. Results: We obtained a sample of 322 patients who had been treated with a total of 659 implants placed immediately following extraction. The mean age of the patients was 51 years old. A total of 441 implants were inserted in the maxilla, 152 in the mandible and 64 were placed in an unspecified location. The survival rate ranged between 85% and 100%. Conclusions: Immediate post-extraction implant treatment is an implant alternative with a survival rate similar to that of the conventional technique for implant placement and enables preserving both the bone structure and gingival architecture, as well as providing immediate functional loading, thus improving the quality of the treatment as far as the patient is concerned. Companies and society in Mexico and the world had to face the Covid19 pandemic. This has made them to carry out various investigation with the aim to: 1. Know the marketing strategies, specifically direct and digital marketing, used by the companies of the Municipalities of Ixtapaluca, Nezahualcóyotl and the Mayor of Iztapalapa in Mexico; 2. To achieve the objectives set out, the theoretical framework was based on the revision of the concept of Direct Marketing and Digital Marketing conceptualized by Kotler (2017) and Fischer and Espejo (2017). The research method used is divided into two parts. The first part applies a quantitative research through a 37-item questionnaire distributed to 78 students residing in the Municipality of Nezahualcóyotl to understand the use of the apps before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. For the second part, the descriptive method is applied using observation and collection of photographs. The results were presented in the selection of some graphs and with a list of the different marketing strategies used by the companies. This includes the use of social networks like Facebook and WhatsApp, or tools like digital catalogs and virtual assistant. The discussion section and conclusions shows that the pandemic has not ended, and it is necessary to continue to support businesses and society at large using the different digital marketing channels

Adaptive Sliding Mode Control for a Double Fed Induction Generator Used in an Oscillating Water Column System

Wave power conversion systems are nonlinear dynamical systems that must endure strong uncertainties. Efficiency is a key issue for these systems, and the application of robust control algorithms can improve it considerably. Wave power generation plants are typically built using variable speed generators, such as the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). These generators, compared with fixed speed generators, are very versatile since the turbine speed may be adjusted to improve the efficiency of the whole system. Nevertheless, a suitable speed controller is required for these systems, which must be able to avoid the stalling phenomenon and track the optimal reference for the turbine. This paper proposes a sliding mode control scheme aimed at oscillating water column (OWC) generation plants using Wells turbines and DFIGs. The contributions of the paper are (1) an adaptive sliding mode control scheme that does not require calculating the bounds of the system uncertainties, (2) a Lyapunov analysis of stability for the control algorithm against system uncertainties and disturbances, and (3) a validation of the proposed control scheme through several simulation examples with the Matlab/Simulink suite. The performance results, obtained by means of simulations, for a wave power generation plant (1) evidence that this control scheme improves the power generation of the system and (2) prove that this control scheme is robust in the presence of disturbances. This research was partially funded by the Basque Government through the project ETORTEK KK-2017/00033 and by the UPV/EHU through the project PPGA18/04
