Un análisis del perfil del cuidador y su impacto sobre la situación laboral: cuidadores principales de enfermos de Alzheimer y otras demencias en el Sur Oeste de España

The aim of this paper is to analyse the main demographic and socio-economic conditions of the primary caregivers of Alzheimer's and dementia sufferers, and their relationship to the employment situation of the caregiver. Material and Methods: Empirical analysis of the data obtained from surveys of 694 primary caregivers of Alzheimer's and dementia sufferers through the Andalusian Associations of Relatives of Alzheimer’s Patients. The sampling procedure was selective non-probabilistic sampling. The SPSS 19 statistical software package was used to process the data. The verification of the hypothesis of independence of variables was performed using the chi square test under the usual parameters. Results: The employment rate of working-age caregivers is much lower than that of the general population, especially in older women with low levels of education who live with the patient. The data revealed that caregiving which takes place in the home represents the main restriction preventing access to the labour market, i.e. living with the patient is an additional handicap, and an even greater one for women. Conclusions: Those who care for dementia patients have greater limitations in accessing the labour market than the rest of the population, and this limitation is significantly greater when care is provided in the home. As such, health and social policy, with a view towards encouraging employment, needs to take into account the option of boosting available resources outside of family care.El objetivo es analizar las principales características demográficas y socio-económicas de los cuidadores principales de enfermos de Alzheimer y otras demencias, y buscar una la relación entre dichas características y su vinculación con el mercado laboral. Material y Métodos: Análisis empírico de los datos obtenidos de 694 encuestas realizadas a cuidadores principales de enfermos de Alzheimer y otras demencias, a través de Asociaciones de familiares de enfermos de Alzheimer andaluzas. El procedimiento de muestreo fue el muestreo no probabilístico selectivo. Para el tratamiento de los datos se ha utilizado el paquete estadístico SPSS 19. El contraste de las hipótesis de independencia de variables se ha realizado con el test de la chi cuadrado bajo los parámetros habituales. Resultados: La tasa de ocupación de los cuidadores en edad laboral es muy inferior a la de la población general, especialmenteen mujeres, de mayor edad, nivel de formación bajo y que conviven con el enfermo. De los datos analizados se revela como principal restricción para el acceso al mercado laboral el modelo de cuidado en casa, es decir, la convivencia con el enfermo es un hándicap adicional, mayor para el colectivo femenino. Conclusiones: Cuidar de un enfermo es una limitación superior respecto a población no cuidadora para el acceso al mercado laboral, y esta limitación es significativamente superior cuando el enfermo se atiende en el domicilio, por lo que de cara a políticas socio-sanitarias con incidencia en el fomento del empleo es necesario considerar la opción de incrementar recursos externos al cuidado familiar

Listen to the Story: Banksy, Tyler the Creator, and the Growing Nihilistic Mindset

Art, as an expression of feelings, worldviews, and personal beliefs, is a reflection of our environment and how we interact with it. In this way, urban art such as rap music and graffiti can serve as a lens through which we are able to examine the state of the urban environment. Building on community literature that addresses the presence of nihilism in rap music, this work will establish that nihilism is a prevalent theme in the work of two artists: Tyler the Creator\u27s rap music and BANKSY\u27s graffiti art. By examining the growing subculture and appeal of urban art in relation to these two artists, this paper will argue that BANKSY and Tyler the Creator belong to a new wave of urban art, one that appeals to and originates from people of all races and classes. The current work will then examine these artists\u27 motives in including nihilism within their art in order to argue that the disillusionment and nihilism once found primarily within inner cities is now spreading to new frontiers. Using this analysis, the current work will raise questions as to the possible causes and consequences of this spreading nihilistic mindset

Random Forest Classification of Stars in the Galactic Centre

Near-infrared high-angular resolution imaging observations of the Milky Way's nuclear star cluster have revealed all luminous members of the existing stellar population within the central parsec. Generally, these stars are either evolved late-type giants or massive young, early-type stars. We revisit the problem of stellar classification based on intermediate-band photometry in the K-band, with the primary aim of identifying faint early-type candidate stars in the extended vicinity of the central massive black hole. A random forest classifier, trained on a subsample of spectroscopically identified stars, performs similarly well as competitive methods (F1=0.85), without involving any model of stellar spectral energy distributions. Advantages of using such a machine-trained classifier are a minimum of required calibration effort, a predictive accuracy expected to improve as more training data becomes available, and the ease of application to future, larger data sets. By applying this classifier to archive data, we are also able to reproduce the results of previous studies of the spatial distribution and the K-band luminosity function of both the early- and late-type stars.Comment: accepted for publication in MNRA

La historiografía humanista en los albores del siglo XVI: la Crónica d’Aragón de Lucio Marineo Sículo, traducida al castellano por el bachiller Juan de Molina (Valencia, Joan Jofré, 1524)

La presencia de hombres de letras italianos en la Península Ibérica durante el reinado de los Reyes Católicos (1474-1516) constituye uno de los factores principales para el despegue del Humanismo hispano (Gómez Moreno, 1994). De entre tantos nombres ilustres, quizá sean Pedro Mártir de Anglería y Lucio Marineo Sículo los más conocidos, en especial este último, a quien se le atribuye un papel esencial en este proceso (Rummel, 1997). Nuestro objetivo en este trabajo es el de editar una de sus obras, la Crónica d’Aragón, título de la traducción que el bachiller Juan de Molina efectuó del original latino de Marineo Sículo. Las andanzas biográficas del erudito italiano han sido acotadas de manera reciente por la editora de su epistolario, T. Jiménez Calvente (2001); ante tal buen hacer, remitimos a ese estudio para el conocimiento de la biografía del humanista y únicamente revisaremos aquí un par de detalles referentes a la Crónica que es objeto de nuestra edición. Marineo Sículo publicó el original latino de su crónica, titulado De primis Aragonie regibus, en la imprenta zaragozana de Jorge Coci el 30 de abril de 1509 (Norton, 74 y 192). Gracias a las noticias de Abizanda (1915, 324), sabemos que el autor recibió la nada despreciable cantidad de mil sueldos en dinero de Jaca (Coci recibió justo la mitad), a modo de emolumentos por la impresión de esta obra. El período en que Marineo Sículo vivió entre Zaragoza y Monzón, durante los años 1508 y 1510) destaca por la fecundidad de la actividad cronística del erudito italiano (Jiménez Calvente, 2001, 51-62), así como por las mutuas relaciones e influencias entre él y el círculo intelectual del Reino de Aragón, en especial los humanistas naturales de Alcañiz (Maestre, 1990). Sin embargo, la obra parece deberse al mecenazgo de Alonso de Aragón, hijo ilegítimo de Fernando el Católico, verdadero promotor de que fuese Marineo Sículo quien se dedicase a esta labor (Jiménez Calvente, 2000, 208-212)

Teaching programme for 1º Bachillerato: English

Trabajo de Fin de Máster del Máster en Profesor de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y Bachillerato, Formación Profesional y Enseñanza de Idiomas, curso 2022-2023[ES] El presente Trabajo Fin de Máster corresponde a una propuesta de programación didáctica de la asignatura Primera Lengua Extranjera: Inglés para 1º de Bachillerato en el contexto del sistema educativo español. Dicha programación didáctica ha sido diseñada siguiendo los principios metodológicos de: Aprendizaje Integrado de contenidos y Lenguas Extranjeras (AICLE/CLIL) y Aprendizaje basado en Tareas (TBLT), teniendo en cuenta su relación con el marco jurídico correspondiente y los métodos de evaluación necesarios. La programación didáctica consta de 9 Unidades Didácticas, cada una de ellas sobre un tema de interés para los alumnos. La última sección del TFM corresponde al desarrollo de la UD 6 centrada en el tema del Arte y más concretamente en las figuras artísticas de Van Gogh y Roy Lichtenstein. Se añaden también las propuestas diseñadas para sus seis sesiones, con las diferentes actividades, contenidos y los instrumentos alternativos de evaluación.[EN] This Final Master’s Thesis corresponds to a Teaching Programme for an English as a Foreign Language course aimed at 1st Year Bachillerato students in the Spanish Educational System. This Teaching Programme has been designed following the methodological principles of both Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and Task-Based Learning Teaching (TBLT), taking into account the current legal framework and the needed assessment tools. The Teaching Programme consists of 9 units, each of them revolves around a topic of interest for the students. The last section of the Thesis explores unit 6 which is about Art, and more specifically about two artistic figures Van Gogh and Roy Lichtenstein. The proposals designed for the six sessions are also included, together with the different activities, content and alternative assessment tools
