Space, function and symbol. Architectural furniture in domestic spaces

[EN] The Baldaquin of the Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome represents the spiritual core of the building and holds a distinctive meaning for the complex and the people in it. This piece, defined for this research as architectural furniture, conditions the use of the space it belongs to, affects its scale, gives purpose to its routing, and defines the symbolic reading of the whole.This monumental object is used as a reference, and its personal, social, spatial, and functional implications are relayed across the field of architecture to the domestic space. An approach to furniture to create a home molded to the needs and desires of the individual and the society he belongs to is detected in the pieces of furniture by Ettore Sottsass and Joe Colombo, presented in the exhibition Italy, the new domestic landscape in 1972. This paper intends to indicate those concepts embodied in a selection of four contemporary housing renovation projects that have used furniture as a complex design element to shape homes.Ochoa Caballero, MJ. Multiple hyperodontia: report of a case with 17 supernumerary teeth with non syndromic association

Supernumerary teeth or hyperodontia is an infrequent developmental alteration that appears in any area of the dental arches and can affect any dental organ. Multiple hyperodontia can be associated with several syndromes such as Gardner’s, cleidocranial dysplasia, tricho-rhino phalangic syndrome or in patients with cleft lip and palate.However, it can be present in patients without any systemic pathology. The presence of supernumerary teeth is associated with different alterations in neighboring teeth, being the most common: over retained teeth or delayed eruption, ectopic eruption, dental malposition, occlusal problems, diastemas and rotated neighboring teeth, among a series of associated pathologies.The routine use of radiographic images during examination is a valuable tool that helps make the early diagnosis of these types of abnormalities. Keeping in mind that there are different treatment options, the therapeutic modalities increase. A case of a 20 year old female patient with multiple supernumerary teeth with non syndromic association is presented. The teeth were located in the maxilla and the mandible causing a severe malocclusion

Contemporaneidad, turismo y patrimonio etnológico: realidad coriana y mediación etnográfica en el bajo Guadalquivir

Desde los años 90 hasta la actualidad, la Unesco ha presentado tres programas relacionados con el patrimonio etnológico: el sistema de los Tesoros Humanos Vivos (1993), la Proclamación de las Obras Maestras del Patrimonio Oral e Inmaterial de la Humanidad (1997) y la Lista Representativa del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad (2003). Además, se añade la Carta Internacional sobre Turismo Cultural (1999). A pesar de ello, existen en Andalucía, concretamente en el término sevillano de Coria del Río, ejemplos sin trayectoria que carecen de un vehículo eficaz de transmisión de los saberes y conocimientos de las personas. En este artículo se analiza cómo la ausencia de mecanismos de transmisión cultural, para la puesta en práctica de las leyes existentes en el ámbito del patrimonio etnológico, afecta significativamente a la conservación de herencias culturales. Asimismo, este trabajo pone de manifiesto las influencias de la Antropología sobre el Turismo.Since the 90's until today, Unesco has introduced three programs related to the ethnological heritage: the system of Living Human Treasures (1993), the Proclamation of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity (1997) and Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (2003).The International Charter on Cultural Tourism (1999) is also added. Nevertheless, there are in Andalusia, specifically in Coria del Río in Seville province, examples without an effective vehicle for the transmission of knowledge and skills of people. Furthermore in this article is discusses how the lack of cultural transmission mechanisms for the implementation of existing laws in the field of ethnological heritage, significantly affect the conservation of cultural continuity.
