Helicity conservation in inclusive nonleptonic decay B to VX: Test of long-distance final state interaction
The polarization measurement in the inclusive B decay provides us with a
simple test of how much the long-distance final-state interaction takes place
as the energy of the observed meson varies in the final state. We give the
expectation of the perturbative QCD for the energy dependence of the helicity
fractions in a semiquantitative form. Experiment will tell us for which decay

On String Theory Duals of Lifshitz-like Fixed Points
We present type IIB supergravity solutions which are expected to be dual to
certain Lifshitz-like fixed points with anisotropic scale invariance. They are
expected to describe a class of D3-D7 systems and their finite temperature
generalizations are straightforward. We show that there exist solutions that
interpolate between these anisotropic solutions in the IR and the standard AdS5
solutions in the UV. This predicts anisotropic RG flows from familiar isotropic
fixed points to anisotropic ones. In our case, these RG flows are triggered by
a non-zero theta-angle in Yang-Mills theories that linearly depends on one of
the spatial coordinates. We study the perturbations around these backgrounds
and discuss the possibility of instability. We also holographically compute
their thermal entropies, viscosities, and entanglement entropies.Comment: 47 pages, 4 figure
Learning to Infer Social Ties in Large Networks
Abstract. In online social networks, most relationships are lack of meaning labels (e.g., “colleague ” and “intimate friends”), simply because users do not take the time to label them. An interesting question is: can we automatically infer the type of social relationships in a large network? what are the fundamental factors that imply the type of social relation-ships? In this work, we formalize the problem of social relationship learn-ing into a semi-supervised framework, and propose a Partially-labeled Pairwise Factor Graph Model (PLP-FGM) for learning to infer the type of social ties. We tested the model on three different genres of data sets: Publication, Email and Mobile. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed PLP-FGM model can accurately infer 92.7 % of advisor-advisee relationships from the coauthor network (Publication), 88.0 % of manager-subordinate relationships from the email network (Email), and 83.1 % of the friendships from the mobile network (Mobile). Finally, we develop a distributed learning algorithm to scale up the model to real large networks.
Rescattering and chiral dynamics in B\to \rho\pi decay
We examine the role of B^0(\bar B^0) \to \sigma \pi^0 \to \pi^+\pi^- \pi^0
decay in the Dalitz plot analysis of B^0 (\bar B^0) \to \rho\pi \to
\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0 decays, employed to extract the CKM parameter \alpha. The
\sigma \pi channel is significant because it can break the relationship between
the penguin contributions in B\to\rho^0\pi^0, B\to\rho^+\pi^-, and
B\to\rho^-\pi^+ decays consequent to an assumption of isospin symmetry. Its
presence thus mimics the effect of isospin violation. The \sigma\pi^0 state is
of definite CP, however; we demonstrate that the B\to\rho\pi analysis can be
generalized to include this channel without difficulty. The \sigma or
f_0(400-1200) ``meson'' is a broad I=J=0 enhancement driven by strong \pi\pi
rescattering; a suitable scalar form factor is constrained by the chiral
dynamics of low-energy hadron-hadron interactions - it is rather different from
the relativistic Breit-Wigner form adopted in earlier B\to\sigma\pi and
D\to\sigma\pi analyses. We show that the use of this scalar form factor leads
to an improved theoretical understanding of the measured ratio Br(\bar B^0 \to
\rho^\mp \pi^\pm) / Br(B^-\to \rho^0 \pi^-).Comment: 26 pages, 8 figs, published version. typos fixed, minor change
Evading the CKM Hierarchy: Intrinsic Charm in B Decays
We show that the presence of intrinsic charm in the hadrons' light-cone wave
functions, even at a few percent level, provides new, competitive decay
mechanisms for B decays which are nominally CKM-suppressed. For example, the
weak decays of the B-meson to two-body exclusive states consisting of strange
plus light hadrons, such as B\to\pi K, are expected to be dominated by penguin
contributions since the tree-level b\to s u\bar u decay is CKM suppressed.
However, higher Fock states in the B wave function containing charm quark pairs
can mediate the decay via a CKM-favored b\to s c\bar c tree-level transition.
Such intrinsic charm contributions can be phenomenologically significant. Since
they mimic the amplitude structure of ``charming'' penguin contributions,

Search for Higgs bosons decaying to tautau pairs in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV
We present a search for the production of neutral Higgs bosons decaying into
tautau pairs in ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The
data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb-1, were collected by
the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We set upper limits at the
95% C.L. on the product of production cross section and branching ratio for a
scalar resonance decaying into tautau pairs, and we then interpret these limits
as limits on the production of Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric
standard model (MSSM) and as constraints in the MSSM parameter space.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, submitted to PL
Measurement of the photon-jet production differential cross section in collisions at \sqrt{s}=1.96~\TeV
We present measurements of the differential cross section dsigma/dpT_gamma
for the inclusive production of a photon in association with a b-quark jet for
photons with rapidities |y_gamma|< 1.0 and 30<pT_gamma <300 GeV, as well as for
photons with 1.5<|y_gamma|< 2.5 and 30< pT_gamma <200 GeV, where pT_gamma is
the photon transverse momentum. The b-quark jets are required to have pT>15 GeV
and rapidity |y_jet| < 1.5. The results are based on data corresponding to an
integrated luminosity of 8.7 fb^-1, recorded with the D0 detector at the
Fermilab Tevatron Collider at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. The measured cross
sections are compared with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations
using different sets of parton distribution functions as well as to predictions
based on the kT-factorization QCD approach, and those from the Sherpa and

Limits on anomalous trilinear gauge boson couplings from WW, WZ and Wgamma production in pp-bar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV
We present final searches of the anomalous gammaWW and ZWW trilinear gauge
boson couplings from WW and WZ production using lepton plus dijet final states
and a combination with results from Wgamma, WW, and WZ production with leptonic
final states. The analyzed data correspond to up to 8.6/fb of integrated
luminosity collected by the D0 detector in pp-bar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96
TeV. We set the most stringent limits at a hadron collider to date assuming two
different relations between the anomalous coupling parameters
Delta\kappa_\gamma, lambda, and Delta g_1^Z for a cutoff energy scale Lambda=2
TeV. The combined 68% C.L. limits are -0.057<Delta\kappa_\gamma<0.154,
-0.015<lambda<0.028, and -0.008<Delta g_1^Z<0.054 for the LEP parameterization,
and -0.007<Delta\kappa<0.081 and -0.017<lambda<0.028 for the equal couplings
parameterization. We also present the most stringent limits of the W boson

Measurement of three-jet differential cross sections d sigma-3jet / d M-3jet in p anti-p collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV
We present the first measurement of the inclusive three-jet differential
cross section as a function of the invariant mass of the three jets with the
largest transverse momenta in an event in p anti-p collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96
TeV. The measurement is made in different rapidity regions and for different
jet transverse momentum requirements and is based on a data set corresponding
to an integrated luminosity of 0.7 fb^{-1} collected with the D0 detector at
the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The results are used to test the three-jet
matrix elements in perturbative QCD calculations at next-to-leading order in
the strong coupling constant. The data allow discrimination between
