Search for supersymmetric particles in scenarios with a gravitino LSP and stau NLSP

Get PDF
Sleptons, neutralinos and charginos were searched for in the context of scenarios where the lightest supersymmetric particle is the gravitino. It was assumed that the stau is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle. Data collected with the DELPHI detector at a centre-of-mass energy near 189 GeV were analysed combining the methods developed in previous searches at lower energies. No evidence for the production of these supersymmetric particles was found. Hence, limits were derived at 95% confidence level.Comment: 31 pages, 14 figure

Search for neutral heavy leptons produced in ZZ decays

Get PDF
Weak isosinglet Neutral Heavy Leptons (Îœm) have been searched for using data collected by the DELPHI detector corresponding to 3.3 × 106 hadronic Z0 decays at LEP1. Four separate searches have been performed, for short-lived Îœm production giving monojet or acollinear jet topologies, and for long-lived Îœm giving detectable secondary vertices or calorimeter clusters. No indication of the existence of these particles has been found, leading to an upper limit for the branching ratio BR(Z0 → ÎœmΜ̄) of about 1.3 × 10-6 at 95% confidence level for Îœm masses between 3.5 and 50 GeV/c2. Outside this range the limit weakens rapidly with the Îœm mass. The results are also interpreted in terms of limits for the single production of excited neutrinos. © Springer-Verlag 1997

Measurement of Trilinear Gauge Couplings in e+e−e^+ e^- Collisions at 161 GeV and 172 GeV

Get PDF
Trilinear gauge boson couplings are measured using data taken by DELPHI at 161~GeV and 172~GeV. Values for WWVWWV couplings (V=Z,ÎłV=Z, \gamma) are determined from a study of the reactions \eeWW\ and \eeWev, using differential distributions from the WWWW final state in which one WW decays hadronically and the other leptonically, and total cross-section data from other channels. Limits are also derived on neutral ZVÎłZV\gamma couplings from an analysis of the reaction \eegi

Study of B0_s anti-B0_s oscillations and B0_s lifetimes using hadronic decays of B0_s mesons

Oscillations of B0s mesons have been studied in samples selected from about 3.5 million hadronic Z decays detected by DELPHI between 1992 and 1995. One analysis uses events in the exclusive decay channels: B0s -> Ds- pi+ or Ds- a1+ and B0s -> anti-D0 K- pi+ or anti-D0 K- a1+, where the D decays are completely reconstructed. In addition, B0s anti-B0s oscillations have been studied in events with an exclusively reconstructed Ds accompanied in the same hemisphere by a high momentum hadron of opposite charge. Combining the two analyses, a limit on the mass difference between the physical B0s states has been obtained: Delta(m_B0s) > 4.0 ps^{-1} at the 95% C.L. with a sensitivity of Delta(m_B0s) = 3.2 ps^{-1}. Using the latter sample of events, the B0s lifetime has been measured and an upper limit on the decay width difference between the two physical B0s states has been obtained: tau(B0s) = 1.53^{+0.16}_{-0.15}(stat.) +/- {0.07}(syst.) ps \Delta\Gamma(B0s)/\Gamma(B0s) < 0.69 at the 95% C.L. The combination of these results with those obtained using Ds+- lepton-+ sample gives: Delta(m_B0s) > 4.9 ps^{-1} at the 95% C.L. with a sensitivity of Delta(m_B0s) = 8.7 ps^{-1}. tau(B0s) = 1.46 +/- 0.11 ps and \Delta\Gamma(B0s)/\Gamma(B0s) < 0.45 at the 95% C.L.Comment: 42 pages, 13 figure

Precision measurement of CP\it{CP} violation in the penguin-mediated decay Bs0→ϕϕB_s^{0}\rightarrow\phi\phi

Get PDF
A flavor-tagged time-dependent angular analysis of the decay Bs0→ϕϕB_s^{0}\rightarrow\phi\phi is performed using pppp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at % at s=13\sqrt{s}=13 TeV, the center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}. The CP\it{CP}-violating phase and direct CP\it{CP}-violation parameter are measured to be ϕssˉs=−0.042±0.075±0.009\phi_{s\bar{s}s} = -0.042 \pm 0.075 \pm 0.009 rad and ∣λ∣=1.004±0.030±0.009|\lambda|=1.004\pm 0.030 \pm 0.009 , respectively, assuming the same values for all polarization states of the ϕϕ\phi\phi system. In these results, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These parameters are also determined separately for each polarization state, showing no evidence for polarization dependence. The results are combined with previous LHCb measurements using pppp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, yielding ϕssˉs=−0.074±0.069\phi_{s\bar{s}s} = -0.074 \pm 0.069 rad and ∣lambda∣=1.009±0.030|lambda|=1.009 \pm 0.030. This is the most precise study of time-dependent CP\it{CP} violation in a penguin-dominated BB meson decay. The results are consistent with CP\it{CP} symmetry and with the Standard Model predictions.Comment: All figures and tables, along with any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://cern.ch/lhcbproject/Publications/p/LHCb-PAPER-2023-001.html (LHCb public pages

Measurement of the Λb0→Λ(1520)ÎŒ+Ό−\Lambda_{b}^{0}\to \Lambda(1520) \mu^{+}\mu^{-} differential branching fraction

Get PDF
The branching fraction of the rare decay Λb0→Λ(1520)ÎŒ+Ό−\Lambda_{b}^{0}\to \Lambda(1520) \mu^{+}\mu^{-} is measured for the first time, in the squared dimuon mass intervals, q2q^2, excluding the J/ψJ/\psi and ψ(2S)\psi(2S) regions. The data sample analyzed was collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of $9\ \mathrm{fb}^{-1}.Theresultinthehighest. The result in the highest q^{2}interval, interval, q^{2} >15.0\ \mathrm{GeV}^2/c^4$, where theoretical predictions have the smallest model dependence, agrees with the predictions.Comment: All figures and tables, along with any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://cern.ch/lhcbproject/Publications/p/LHCb-PAPER-2022-050.html (LHCb public pages

Search for rare decays of D0 mesons into two muons

Get PDF
A search for the very rare D 0 → ÎŒ + ÎŒ − decay is performed using data collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at √ s = 7 , 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9     fb − 1 . The search is optimized for D 0 mesons from D * + → D 0 π + decays but is also sensitive to D 0 mesons from other sources. No evidence for an excess of events over the expected background is observed. An upper limit on the branching fraction of this decay is set at B ( D 0 → ÎŒ + ÎŒ − ) < 3.1 × 10 − 9 at a 90% C.L. This represents the world’s most stringent limit, constraining models of physics beyond the standard model

The ratios of branching fractions R ( D ∗ ) ≡ B ( ÂŻ B → D ∗ τ − ÂŻ Îœ τ ) / B ( ÂŻ B → D ∗ ÎŒ − ÂŻ Îœ ÎŒ ) and R ( D 0 ) ≡ B ( B − → D 0 τ − ÂŻ Îœ τ ) / B ( B − → D 0 ÎŒ − ÂŻ Îœ ÎŒ ) are measured, assuming isospin symmetry, using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0     fb − 1 of integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The tau lepton is identified in the decay mode τ − → ÎŒ − Îœ τ ÂŻ Îœ ÎŒ . The measured values are R ( D ∗ ) = 0.281 ± 0.018 ± 0.024 and R ( D 0 ) = 0.441 ± 0.060 ± 0.066 , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The correlation between these measurements is ρ = − 0.43 . The results are consistent with the current average of these quantities and are at a combined 1.9 standard deviations from the predictions based on lepton flavor universality in the standard model

Test of lepton universality in b→sℓ+ℓ− decays

Get PDF
The first simultaneous test of muon-electron universality using B + → K + ℓ + ℓ − and B 0 → K * 0 ℓ + ℓ − decays is performed, in two ranges of the dilepton invariant-mass squared, q 2 . The analysis uses beauty mesons produced in proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9     fb − 1 . Each of the four lepton universality measurements reported is either the first in the given q 2 interval or supersedes previous LHCb measurements. The results are compatible with the predictions of the Standard Model
