En este artículo de divulgación, se busca entender el papel fundamental de un contador público en las empresas para fortalecer la productividad. Existen contadores para la gestión financiera, para la tributaria, para el uso de las tecnologías de información y para la gestión estratégica empresarial. En los últimos años, el rol de un contador se ha fortalecido porque no solo abarca un perfil técnico de los tributos, sino que también se intervienen en el análisis, en la estrategia y en la gestión de las empresas. Como consecuencia de la anterior, el contador va manejando información que, cada vez más impacta en la toma de decisiones y en la productividad de las empresas

Tesis (Profesor de Educación física, Licenciado en Educación)El objetivo de la presente investigación es comparar el nivel de sedentarismo, respecto al estado nutricional de una muestra de alumnos y alumnas de segundo, tercero, cuarto y quinto básico que asisten a colegios particulares pagados de las comunas de Las Condes, Vitacura, Providencia y Lo Barnechea. Esto, porque hoy en dia se sabe que los niños y niñas de Chile, Latinoamérica y a nivel mundial prefieren más los juegos de video, la televisión, computador, celulares y poca actividad fisica, independiente de si es a un nivel recreativo o competitivo. Por lo que las palabras claves, Sedentarismo y Estado Nutricional, están completamente relacionadas, ya que cualquiera que se presente, la otra estará de alguna manera influyendo en aquellos efectos que de alguna u otra forma afectan la salud y bienestar de los menores de edad. El procedimiento se dividió en dos partes. Primero: se midió y peso a los alumnos de 2º a 5º Básico y con los datos obtenidos se estimó el IMC (Indice de Masa Corporal). Los niños debían dirigirse a la enfermería en compañía de una profesora. Lugar en donde se llevó a cabo la evaluación. De esta manera se logrará saber el Estado Nutricional a nivel general en el que se encuentran los alumnos. La Segunda parte se trató de entregarles un cuestionario a los mismos niños, en donde debían responder para determinar la cantidad de veces que realizan actividad física en la semana y cuanto tiempo le dedican. Estigmatização e cuidado de doenças neurocognitivas e de saúde mental em idosos

The aging of the national and world population has awakened interest in documenting events related to older adults’ health and disease processes, which are prevalent in this population group. According to the World Health Organization, 20% of older people suffer from some form of mental illness resulting from the physical, psychological, and social processes of aging, as well as neurocognitive disorders. One resulting situation is the stigmatization of older people with mental illness or neurocognitive disease (Alzheimer-Parkinson’s). According to different authors, at least 40% of people with dementia feel excluded from society; their caregivers and family members are also concerned about social rejection. In order to identify the scientific literature related to stigmatization and care of neurocognitive and mental health conditions in the elderly, the following topic review was proposed.El envejecimiento poblacional nacional y mundial ha despertado el interés por evidenciar los eventos relacionados con el proceso de salud y enfermedad de la persona mayor que son prevalentes en este grupo poblacional. De acuerdo a la Organización Mundial de la Salud, el 20 % de las personas mayores presentan alguna enfermedad mental, derivada de los procesos físicos, psicológicos y sociales del envejecimiento, así como de las enfermedades neurocognitivas. Una situación derivada es la estigmatización de las personas mayores con enfermedad mental o con enfermedad neurocognitiva (Alzheimer-Parkinson). De acuerdo a diferentes autores se encuentra que por lo menos el 40 % de las personas con demencias consideran que son excluidas de la sociedad; también sus cuidadores y familiares se preocupan por situaciones de rechazo social. Con el fin identificar la literatura científica relacionada con la estigmatización y el cuidado de las enfermedades neurocognitivas y de la salud mental de la persona mayor se propuso realizar la siguiente revisión de tema.O envelhecimento populacional nacional e mundial tem despertado interesse em evidenciar os eventos relacionados ao processo de saúde e adoecimento dos idosos que são prevalentes neste grupo populacional. Segundo a Organização Mundial da Saúde, 20% dos idosos apresentam alguma doença mental, decorrente dos processos físicos, psicológicos e sociais do envelhecimento, além de doenças neurocognitivas. Uma situação derivada é a estigmatização de pessoas idosas com doença mental ou doença neurocognitiva (Alzheimer-Parkinson). De acordo com diferentes autores, verifica-se que pelo menos 40% das pessoas com demência consideram-se excluídas da sociedade; seus cuidadores e familiares também se preocupam com situações de rejeição social. En las tres primeras semanas de agosto, concretamente los días 4, 14 y 18, nuestra querida Institución, recibió 132 jóvenes oradores, de quince Colegios de Bucaramanga y del área metropolitana, interesados en participar en la segunda versión del Concurso de Oratoria; el área de Lengua Castellana quiere resaltar la, cada vez más positiva, acogida a este magno evento, cuyo objetivo central se enfoca en posibilitar un espacio significativo para los jóvenes educandos de los grados noveno, décimo y undécimo, con el fin de poner en práctica sus habilidades comunicativas, el planteamiento de sus ideas y el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico, a través de la palabra; este año los discursos se centraron en la relación que los jóvenes pueden establecer entre paz, literatura y medios de comunicación; es interesante y gratificante ver cómo los jóvenes, aceptaron este reto y, para las eliminatorias de este año, se presentaron casi el triple de los participantes del año anterior (47, asistieron en el año 2014); se seleccionaron 17 finalistas, que se disputaron los tres primeros lugares en la gran final, el 28 de Agosto, en el marco de Ulibro 2015. Prospective individual patient data meta-analysis of two randomized trials on convalescent plasma for COVID-19 outpatients

Data on convalescent plasma (CP) treatment in COVID-19 outpatients are scarce. We aimed to assess whether CP administered during the first week of symptoms reduced the disease progression or risk of hospitalization of outpatients. Two multicenter, double-blind randomized trials (NCT04621123, NCT04589949) were merged with data pooling starting when = 50 years and symptomatic for <= 7days were included. The intervention consisted of 200-300mL of CP with a predefined minimum level of antibodies. Primary endpoints were a 5-point disease severity scale and a composite of hospitalization or death by 28 days. Amongst the 797 patients included, 390 received CP and 392 placebo; they had a median age of 58 years, 1 comorbidity, 5 days symptoms and 93% had negative IgG antibody-test. Seventy-four patients were hospitalized, 6 required mechanical ventilation and 3 died. The odds ratio (OR) of CP for improved disease severity scale was 0.936 (credible interval (CI) 0.667-1.311); OR for hospitalization or death was 0.919 (CI 0.592-1.416). CP effect on hospital admission or death was largest in patients with <= 5 days of symptoms (OR 0.658, 95%CI 0.394-1.085). CP did not decrease the time to full symptom resolution

Effectiveness and safety of integrase strand transfer inhibitors in Spain: a prospective real-world study

IntroductionSecond-generation integrase strand transfer inhibitors (INSTIs) are preferred treatment options worldwide, and dolutegravir (DTG) is the treatment of choice in resource-limited settings. Nevertheless, in some resource-limited settings, these drugs are not always available. An analysis of the experience with the use of INSTIs in unselected adults living with HIV may be of help to make therapeutic decisions when second-generation INSTIs are not available. This study aimed to evaluate the real-life effectiveness and safety of dolutegravir (DTG), elvitegravir/cobicistat (EVG/c), and raltegravir (RAL) in a large Spanish cohort of HIV-1-infected patients.MethodsReal-world study of adults living with HIV who initiated integrase INSTIs DTG, EVG/c, and RAL-based regimens in three settings (ART-naïve patients, ART-switching, and ART-salvage patients). The primary endpoint was the median time to treatment discontinuation after INSTI-based regimen initiation. Proportion of patients experiencing virological failure (VF) (defined as two consecutive viral loads (VL) ≥200 copies/mL at 24 weeks or as a single determination of VL ≥1,000 copies/mL while receiving DTG, EVG/c or RAL, and at least 3 months after INSTI initiation) and time to VF were also evaluated.ResultsVirological effectiveness of EVG/c- and RAL-based regimens was similar to that of DTG when given as first-line and salvage therapy. Treatment switching for reasons other than virological failure was more frequent in subjects receiving EVG/c and, in particular, RAL. Naïve patients with CD4+ nadir &lt;100 cells/μL were more likely to develop VF, particularly if they initiated RAL or EVG/c. In the ART switching population, initiation of RAL and EVG/c was associated with both VF and INSTI discontinuation. There were no differences in the time to VF and INSTI discontinuation between DTG, EVG/c and RAL. Immunological parameters improved in the three groups and for the three drugs assessed. Safety and tolerability were consistent with expected safety profiles.DiscussionWhereas second-generation INSTIs are preferred treatment options worldwide, and DTG is one of the treatment of choices in resource-limited settings, first-generation INSTIs may still provide high virological and immunological effectiveness when DTG is not available

Impact of COVID-19 on cardiovascular testing in the United States versus the rest of the world

Objectives: This study sought to quantify and compare the decline in volumes of cardiovascular procedures between the United States and non-US institutions during the early phase of the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the care of many non-COVID-19 illnesses. Reductions in diagnostic cardiovascular testing around the world have led to concerns over the implications of reduced testing for cardiovascular disease (CVD) morbidity and mortality. Methods: Data were submitted to the INCAPS-COVID (International Atomic Energy Agency Non-Invasive Cardiology Protocols Study of COVID-19), a multinational registry comprising 909 institutions in 108 countries (including 155 facilities in 40 U.S. states), assessing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on volumes of diagnostic cardiovascular procedures. Data were obtained for April 2020 and compared with volumes of baseline procedures from March 2019. We compared laboratory characteristics, practices, and procedure volumes between U.S. and non-U.S. facilities and between U.S. geographic regions and identified factors associated with volume reduction in the United States. Results: Reductions in the volumes of procedures in the United States were similar to those in non-U.S. facilities (68% vs. 63%, respectively; p = 0.237), although U.S. facilities reported greater reductions in invasive coronary angiography (69% vs. 53%, respectively; p < 0.001). Significantly more U.S. facilities reported increased use of telehealth and patient screening measures than non-U.S. facilities, such as temperature checks, symptom screenings, and COVID-19 testing. Reductions in volumes of procedures differed between U.S. regions, with larger declines observed in the Northeast (76%) and Midwest (74%) than in the South (62%) and West (44%). Prevalence of COVID-19, staff redeployments, outpatient centers, and urban centers were associated with greater reductions in volume in U.S. facilities in a multivariable analysis. Conclusions: We observed marked reductions in U.S. cardiovascular testing in the early phase of the pandemic and significant variability between U.S. regions. The association between reductions of volumes and COVID-19 prevalence in the United States highlighted the need for proactive efforts to maintain access to cardiovascular testing in areas most affected by outbreaks of COVID-19 infection
