    Silver Nanoparticle-Based Arrays into Mesoporous Thin Films Structures for Photoelectronic Circuits

    Background: Silver nanosystems have attracted considerable attention for numerous applications in optoelectronics. The localized surface plasmon of silver nanoparticles embedded into mesoporous titania gives rise to an enhancement of local optical field in the vicinity of Ag nanoparticles which act as efficient light-trapping components, resulting in a visible wavelength-dependent photocurrent. Objective: In this paper, we synthetized patterned nanocomposites formed by titania mesoporous thin films loaded with alkanethiol functionalized Ag nanoparticles and we demonstrated that these stable and accessible nanostructures possess a photocurrent response. Method: Mesoporous thin films are created by combining sol-gel synthesis and template selfassembly. Based on a photolithography technique, silver nanoparticles were selectively photodeposited and then stabilized with octanethiols. Current vs. voltage curves with and without light were compared, where selective light wavelength measurements were achieved by using visible bandpass filters. The optofluidic behavior was evaluated by placing a drop of solutions on the mesoporous film. Results: We demonstrate photocurrent in these mesoporous thin film structures decorated with chemistabilized Ag nanoparticle-based conductive arrays, with significantly enhanced photocurrent peak at the plasmon resonant wavelength around 540 nm. Our findings offer a possibility to perform improved fluid detection with silver-mesoporous titania electronic devices. Conclusion: We showed that an optofluidic sensitive nanocomposite circuit consisting of alkanethiol-functionalized metal nanoparticles embedded in a mesoporous oxide thin film matrix can be produced.Fil: Delgado, Diana Catherine.     Mesoporous thin film structures as metal nanoparticle reactors for electronic circuits: Effects of matrix crystallinity and nanoparticle functionalization

    There is an increasing interest in versatile nanoelectronic structures based on stable, accessible and spatially located arrays of metal nanoparticles. In this study, the influences of mesoporous titania thin film crystallinity and pore features over electrical conductivity of embedded Ag-nanoparticles were analyzed. Although matrices treated at lower temperatures have shown less pore connectivity, less extensive anatase fraction and lower silver content, they revealed higher electrical conductivity than matrices treated at higher temperatures. This was interpreted as better connectivity among particles from plasmon behavior. The stability of this system was significantly enhanced through upon chemisorption of 1-octanethiol self-assemble monolayers over Ag-nanoparticles. The maximum plasmon absorbance remained practically unaltered after storage for at least 15 days and the current remains stable up to 20 voltage cycles. This demonstrates that a stable and accessible conductive nanocomposite circuit consisting of alkanethiol-functionalized metal nanoparticles embedded in a mesoporous oxide thin film matrix can be produced.Fil: Delgado González, Diana Catherine.     Association between asthma and lung function in adolescents born very preterm: results of the EPIPAGE cohort study

    International audiencePrematurity and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) affect long-term lung function. We studied the respiratory outcome of adolescents born very preterm and controls from the Etude EPIdémiologique sur les Petits Ages Gestationnels cohort and analysed their current lung function in relation to asthma symptoms (categorised in three age groups) from birth. In models including BPD, asthma at each age and confounding factors in the preterm group, BPD and preschool wheeze were the only independent variables associated with FEV1. Preschool wheeze is an independent factor associated with FEV1 impairment in adolescents born very preterm. These results highlight the need for optimal management of early respiratory symptoms in preterm-born infants

    Educational and health outcomes associated with bronchopulmonary dysplasia in 15-year-olds born preterm.

    International audienceIntroduction To evaluate the consequences of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) on academic outcomes and healthcare use in adolescents born very preterm. Methods This cohort study included 15-year-old adolescents born very preterm (< 32 weeks) between 2011 and 2013, with and without BPD, and controls born full term. Data regarding academic performance, current medical follow-up, and family characteristics were collected. Multivariate logistic regression was used to quantify relationships between academic outcomes and BPD. Results From the 1341 children included in the initial cohort, 985 adolescents were eligible and 351 included (55 preterms with a history of BPD, 249 without, and 47 controls). Among adolescents born very preterm, a history of BPD was associated with a higher risk to attend a school for children with special needs (p < 0.05) and to have repeated a grade (p = 0.01). It was also associated with an increased number of medical and paramedical consultations. A history of BPD was not associated with the parents’ employment status, family structure, or the presence of younger siblings. Conclusion This study highlights that a history of BPD is associated with poorer academic outcomes and high healthcare use in adolescence

    L’Architecture de l’information : un concept opératoire

    Ce numéro thématique de la revue Études de Communication a pour objectif d’étudier la dimension opératoire du concept d’«  architecture de l’information  » qui s’est installé depuis peu dans le champ des sciences de l’information et de la communication. Au-delà de la seule présentation de méthodes de conception ou de réalisations, le numéro vise à analyser la pertinence scientifique de ce concept dans une perspective critique. Par analogie avec l’architecture physique des bâtiments construits dans le monde réel, l’architecture de l’information relève des modes d’organisation spatiale et temporelle de l’information, de la structuration et des interactions des différents contenus et du design informationnel. L’architecture de l’information se présente ainsi comme la structure d’organisation sous-jacente à un système de contenu (textes, images, vidéos...). Si le Web est le cadre principal où elle s’inscrit, l’architecture de l’information peut cependant s’appliquer à tout écosystème informationnel complexe, notamment les dispositifs numériques mobiles tels que les smartphones, les livres électroniques, les jeux vidéos ou les serious games. Plus généralement, cette question de l’architecture de l’information se trouve questionnée dans le champ des humanités numériques (Digital Humanities), notamment dans les domaines de l’art et de la culture numérique, de l’exposition des collections muséographiques sous forme électronique, de la représentation et de la mise en scène d’objets archéologiques, etc. The themes of this number of Études de Communication aims to study the operational dimension of the concept of "Information Architecture" which settled recently in the field of the information and communication sciences. Beyond the presentation of design methods or achievements, the number aims to analyze the scientific relevance of this concept from the critical point of view. By analogy with the physical architecture of constructed buildings in the real world, information architecture demonstrates ways of spatial and temporal organization of information, structuring and interactions of different contents and the information design. The data architecture and the organizational structure underlying a system of contents (texts, images, videos . . .). If the Web is the main framework in which this architecture resides, it may still apply to any complex data ecosystem, in particular mobile digital devices such as smartphones, e-books, video games, or serious games. More generally, this question of data architecture is discussed in the field of digital humanities, in particular in the domains of art and digital culture, exhibits of electronic museographic collections, the representation and display of archeological objects, etc

    Oxygen targets and 6-month outcome after out of hospital cardiac arrest: a pre-planned sub-analysis of the targeted hypothermia versus targeted normothermia after Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (TTM2) trial

    International audienceAbstract Background Optimal oxygen targets in patients resuscitated after cardiac arrest are uncertain. The primary aim of this study was to describe the values of partial pressure of oxygen values (PaO 2 ) and the episodes of hypoxemia and hyperoxemia occurring within the first 72 h of mechanical ventilation in out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients. The secondary aim was to evaluate the association of PaO 2 with patients’ outcome. Methods Preplanned secondary analysis of the targeted hypothermia versus targeted normothermia after OHCA (TTM2) trial. Arterial blood gases values were collected from randomization every 4 h for the first 32 h, and then, every 8 h until day 3. Hypoxemia was defined as PaO 2  300 mmHg. Mortality and poor neurological outcome (defined according to modified Rankin scale) were collected at 6 months. Results 1418 patients were included in the analysis. The mean age was 64 ± 14 years, and 292 patients (20.6%) were female. 24.9% of patients had at least one episode of hypoxemia, and 7.6% of patients had at least one episode of severe hyperoxemia. Both hypoxemia and hyperoxemia were independently associated with 6-month mortality, but not with poor neurological outcome. The best cutoff point associated with 6-month mortality for hypoxemia was 69 mmHg (Risk Ratio, RR = 1.009, 95% CI 0.93–1.09), and for hyperoxemia was 195 mmHg (RR = 1.006, 95% CI 0.95–1.06). The time exposure, i.e., the area under the curve (PaO 2 -AUC), for hyperoxemia was significantly associated with mortality ( p = 0.003). Conclusions In OHCA patients, both hypoxemia and hyperoxemia are associated with 6-months mortality, with an effect mediated by the timing exposure to high values of oxygen. Precise titration of oxygen levels should be considered in this group of patients. Trial registration : clinicaltrials.gov NCT02908308 , Registered September 20, 2016
