Pronominal clitic placement in infinitival clauses in european portuguese
This article examines the patterns of pronominal clitic placement (enclitic and proclitic) observed in non-inflected infinitival clauses in European Portuguese (EP). These clauses have been taken to differ from finite or inflected infinitival clauses in allowing enclisis even in the presence of a proclisis trigger (a complementizer, sentential negation, focus operators or wh-phrases). In recent studies within the framework of Generative Grammar, the alternation between enclisis and proclisis in these contexts is a case of free variation. This paper aims to contribute to the understanding of this phenomenon by carrying a quantitative study of the occurrences of each pattern in the written corpus CETEMPúblico (Corpus de Extractos de Textos Electrónicos MCT/Público ) as well as in a grammaticality judgement task applied to adult EP native speakers. Even though the results of the study confirm the claim that non-inflected infinitival constructions differ from inflected infinitival and finite clauses in the presence of proclisis triggers, the quantitative data obtained reveal that there is a clear preference for proclisis, a finding that has never been observed before in the literature on the topic

The Framing of Urban Sustainability Transformations
Transformational change is not always intentional. However, deliberate transformations are imperative to achieve the sustainable visions that future generations deserve. Small, unintentional tweaks will not be enough to overcome persistent and emergent urban challenges. Recent scholarship on sustainability transformations has evolved considerably, but there is no consensus on what qualifies transformational change. We describe variations in current discussions of intentional sustainability transformations in the literature and synthesize strategies from funding institutions’ recent requests for proposals for urban sustainability transformations. Research funding initiatives calling for transformational change are increasingly common and are an important driver of how transformational change is articulated in research-practice in cities. From this synthesis, we present seven criteria for transformational change that provide direction for framing and implementing transformational change initiatives
vida do idoso.
Tal associação poderá ajudar a
peso = 70.35± 10.97 Kg, altura = 1.60± 0.07 m, IMC = 27.24± 3.39). Para a obtenção dos resultados utilizou-se o questionário Short From 36 versão 2, teste Handgrip, teste dos seis minutos a andar e efetuou-se a avaliação das medidas antropométricas (peso,
This paper arises from the need to reflect on the quality of life of elderly. This
need relates to the fact that population growth both globally and in Portugal.
Despite the diversity of studies few stick to the quality of life correlated with the
functional capacity of the elderly. This association may help to understand how the
autonomy of the person interferes with the self-perception of health status. Purpose of
this study is to realize the existence or non-correlation between the self-perception of health status with functional capacity and the existence of hypertension, as well as the characterization of the elderly population in the municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira.
In this sense, we elaborated the present work, through a cross-sectional study
consisting of elderly residents in that county who volunteered to participate. The sample is disrupted by gender, 14 men and 25 women, the presence or absence of hypertension, 26 hypertensive patients and 13 non-hypertensive. The ages are between 70 and 93 years. So we have a sample of 39 subjects (age = 76.97 ± 5.11years, weight = 70.35 ± 10.97Kg, height = 1.60 ± 0.07 meters, IMC = 27.24 ± 3.39). To obtain the results we used the Short from 36 versions 2, Handgrip test, test of six minutes and we performed the assessment of anthropometric measurements (weight, height and IMC) and blood pressure. The software SPSS version 19 was used for further analyze of all data
acquired and the significance was set at p < 0.05.
Results: The result of the SF-36 v2 verified the existence of significant differences between genders in all components of the questionnaire, and also found that
the average of them is positive. For perception of health status in relation to gender, women are lower when compared with the results for men (65.54 ± 12:35 and 76.90 ±12.74, p <0.05), while the global average is 69.62 ± 13.79. As regards the physical
component women are lower compared to men (61.45 ± 13.70 and 73.39 ± 7.15, p<0.05) and average is 65.73 ± 15:16. For physical performance we have significant differences for women and men (81.00 ± 14.38 and 92.86 ± 16.96, p <0.05) with an average of 85.26 16:19. And finally, the physical function component also women are lower compared to men (66.80 ± 23:54 and 89.29 ± 19.79, p <0.05), the average is 74.87 ±24.56. For the test of Handgrip the male sex presents significantly higher values of
which translates that the male is stronger however for the test of the six-minute walking cardiorespiratory fitness and IMC found no significant difference between gender at p<0.05.
Regarding the condition of hypertension / no hypertension does not appear
significant differences in the components or evaluated using the SF - 36 or V2 to the
test and test Handgrip six minute walk.
Gender and hypertension shows a positive correlation between the test of
Handgrip on the right hand: perception of health status (r = 0.33, p <0.05), physical
component (r = 0.35, p <0.05) and physical performance (r = 0.32, p <0.05). Also test
the six-minute walk correlates with: perception of health status (r = 0.46, p <0.01), physical component (r = 0.45, p <0.01) and physical function (r = 0.56, p <0.01).
However, the positive correlation between the test of the six-minute walk and the
different components of the SF - 36 v2 occurs only in males.
Conclusion: The population study, in general, presents positive values, both in
assessing the perception of health status as to assess the functional capability. However
we have to highlight the values for the males with the best results compared to females.
The condition hypertension / no hypertension do not seem to interfere either in
performance or in the self-perception of their state of health of individuals.

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases represent, globally, a public health problem of important dimensions after infectious diseases; for the morbimortality of these diseases to decrease, its necessary that the patients adhere to the treatments. Within the factors of non-adherence are the beliefs regarding the disease or its treatment, which generally are influenced by the social and cultural environment. Methodology: A review of the literature was performed in the data bases EBCO HOST, PUB-MET, DIAL-NET, Wolters Kluwer Ovid, LILACS, SCIELO, ScienceDirect Medline and Pubmed. The articles were selected considering the date of publication from January 1990 to December 2016, with the following search terms: beliefs in blood pressure, cardiovascular disease beliefs, beliefs and practices of cardiovascular health, beliefs about cardiovascular disease, adherence to treatment of cardiovascular disease, beliefs in cardiovascular disease. From the articles selected, 330 were chosen by its title, 129 were excluded because the title is not relevant for the objective of this review, and 51 were recovered for critical review. Results: It was found that the patients have many and diverse beliefs regarding the disease and its treatment; reason why patients use alternative practices for the treatment of the disease, these go from acupuncture, herbal infusions, home recipes to shamanism. Conclusions: The nurse is required to identify non-adherent patients, and to research about the beliefs and practices to design more effective and efficient interventions considering transcultural care.

Alimentação”, no 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico (1º CEB).
A conjugação dessas três vias
levou à escolha do tema “Açúcares e Gorduras na Alimentação”.
destacam:
torno do tema “Açúcares e Gorduras”.
ABSTRACT: It is nowadays claimed that primary and elementary education should, above
all, provide students with the skills, which allow them to interact with the society
they belong to. This legitimises expectations regarding the education of
citizens, who will be able to cope with their social responsibility. It is known that,
despite the increasing need to promote individuals basic scientific culture, the
last PISA study demonstrated that in Portugal the global average performance
of 15 year old student was bellow OCDE average. Accelerated scientifictechnological
development also reflects the disparities between school learning
and student needs and interests. A question emerges: Is the current
recommended science teaching the most suitable to student interests and
needs?
The recent Curricular Reorganization of the primary and elementary education
system in Portugal follows international guidelines and puts forward the
teaching of science with the aim of educating students scientifically literate.
Therefore, in this context, the STS (Science-Technology-Society) movement
undertakes a teaching philosophy which combines perfectly with the intended
aims. It is crucial to have didactical resources that go along with this
perspective, in order to support teacher’s practices. In this sense, teaching
sciences according to an STS approach, in which the contents are relevant to
give meaning to themes and problems, seems to be one of the promising ways
to motivate students to learn sciences and, simultaneously, to give them a
more authentic vision of the science influence in society and the society role in
developing science and technology.
The aim of this study was to conceive strategies and didactical resources that
can be used in Primary Schools either by teachers and students, focused on
the teaching and learning of the subject “Sugars and Fats in Nutrition”.
Nutrition appears as an emerging theme, due to the problems identified in
student’s nutritional habits (questionnaire), by the serious and damaging effects
on health, as for example, according to WHO, Child Obesity, and by the
curricula analysis, which revealed insufficiencies in the subject. The gathering
of these 3 issues directed us to choose the theme “Sugars and Fats in
Nutrition”.
The methodology used in this study included several stages, such as:
i) The gathering of information, using a questionnaire, aiming to withdraw data
on children nutritional habits and experiences, eating places frequented,
previous conceptions about healthy nutrition and about the consumption in
excess of foods with fats and sugars, and its impact on health. The
questionnaires were used with 150 students from 3rd and 4th grades of two
primary schools in the district of Aveiro. One of the schools was located in a
rural social economic environment and the other one in an urban social and
economical environment.
ii) The planning and conception of strategies and didactical resources to the
approach of the selected theme in a classroom context. The result is
presented in the form of a Didactic Resource Text, which comprises six
activities organized under the global theme “Nutrition” and about the subject
“Sugars and Fats”. It also includes guidelines for teachers and for children and
the necessary registry sheets.
iii) The assessment of the impact that the strategies and didactical resources
had on student’s learning and its attitudes. To evaluate student’s learning,
questions were defined so that students could answer and pronounce about
the interest of such activities, manifesting their preferences.
The data analysis showed that the immediate impact on the student learning
was positive, which allows us to consider the proposal as very suitable to the
theme approach “Sugars and Fats in Nutrition”. Thus, and according with the
literature revision that was held during all this process, we can say that this
study represents an important contribution towards Primary Science Teaching
that should be considered in Curricular Reorganization

Physical Properties and Consumer Evaluation of Cocoa Bean Shell-Functionalized Biscuits Adapted for Diabetic Consumers by the Replacement of Sucrose with Tagatose
The cocoa bean shell (CBS), a by-product of the cocoa industry, has been reported to be rich in fiber and polyphenols, which could contribute to reducing the metabolism of sugars and glucose adsorption. The production of CBS-based biscuits in which sucrose is replaced with tagatose (a low-glycemic sugar with prebiotic properties), benefiting diabetic consumers, is proposed. Six prototype biscuits were produced using sucrose, tagatose, and CBS powder at 0%, 10%, and 20% as a wheat flour replacement. Biscuits were studied in terms of fiber content, and those with 10% and 20% CBS showed to contain 5.66% and 8.70–8.71% of total dietary fiber, respectively. Moreover, the physicochemical and structural properties of the biscuits were studied to evaluate their differences due to the use of sucrose and tagatose combined with CBS. Significant effects mainly caused by the reducing nature and lower solubility of tagatose with respect to sugar, and the water retention capacities of CBS were observed. Finally, the biscuits were evaluated by performing a consumer acceptance evaluation, and their perceptible sensorial differences were studied by performing a Napping® sensory characterization. CBS-based biscuits represent an interesting possibility for cocoa by-product revalorization, although an optimized recipe is recommended, especially when employing tagatoseThe present work has been supported by COVALFOOD “Valorisation of high added-value compounds from cocoa industry by-products as food ingredients and additives”.
