Tiempo, memoria y existencia humana en Agustín

    Get PDF

Fertility of CMS wheat is restored by two Rf loci located on a recombined acrocentric chromosome

Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) results from incompatibility between nuclear and cytoplasmic genomes, and is characterized by the inability to produce viable pollen. The restoration of male fertility generally involves the introgression of nuclear genes, termed restorers of fertility (Rf). CMS has been widely used for hybrid seed production in many crops but not in wheat, partly owing to the complex genetics of fertility restoration. In this study, an acrocentric chromosome that restores pollen fertility of CMS wheat in Hordeum chilense cytoplasm (msH1 system) is studied. The results show that this chromosome, of H. chilense origin and named Hchac, originated from a complex reorganization of the short arm of chromosomes 1Hch (1HchS) and 6Hch (6HchS). Diversity arrays technology (DArT) markers and cytological analysis indicate that Hchac is a kind of 'zebra-like′ chromosome composed of chromosome 1HchS and alternate fragments of interstitial and distal regions of chromosome 6HchS. PCR-based markers together with FISH, GISH, and meiotic pairing analysis support this result. A restorer of fertility gene, named Rf 6H ch S, has been identified on the short arm of chromosome 6HchS. Moreover, restoration by the addition of chromosome 1HchS has been observed at a very low frequency and under certain environmental conditions. Therefore, the results indicate the presence of two Rf genes on the acrocentric chromosome: Rf 6H ch S and Rf 1H ch S, the restoration potential of Rf 6H ch S being greater. The stable and high restoration of pollen fertility in the msH1 system is therefore the result of the interaction between these two restorer genes. Results have been achieved within the framework of the Transnational (Germany, France, Spain, Portugal and Canada) Cooperation within the PLANT-KBBE Initiative, with funding from Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad project PIM2010PKB-00703  “Hybrid Wheat for Reduced Inputs and Sustainable Yield”. Mensaje y audiencias. El programa Gran Hermano - El sueño de Orwell

    Get PDF
This article analyses the elements from the Big Brother's broadcast, the TV program emited from April to June in Telecinco. The purpose of this research is explaining the key points of these production an their influence over the audience. The artificial house created for this play seems a window where people look their neighbour's life. Big Brother's experience supposes a way from the media's liberalism, because it opens a commercial behaviour that is based in emotions

Mapping discourse genres: routes to assess plurilingual discourse coompetence

    Get PDF
[EN] A didactic model for the assessment of plurilingual discourse competence is presented in order to promote its development more effectively. The method chosen is that of online cartographic representation: on the one hand, we work with a sky map of three constellations for the theoretical conceptualization of the model; on the other hand, we represent on an earth map of five continents the genres of discourse to be learned, grouped into families. Proposing this double cartographic metaphor (sky map and earth map) has the result of guiding with criteria the teaching, learning and assessment of discourse genres to offer routes adapted to both teacher needs and those of each particular student.[ES] Se presenta un modelo didáctico de evaluación de la competencia discursiva plurilingüe para fomentar su desarrollo con mayor eficacia. Exploitation of nuclear and cytoplasm variability in Hordeum chilense for wheat breeding

    Get PDF
Hordeum chilense Roem. et Schultz. is a diploid wild barley native to Chile and Argentina. The high crossability of this species with other members of the Triticeae tribe promoted the development of the new species × Tritordeum Ascherson et Graebner. Hexaploid tritordeum was developed from the hybrid derived from the cross between H. chilense (used as female parent) and durum wheat. The interest of H. chilense is based on the presence of traits potentially useful for wheat breeding, including high endosperm carotenoid content, septoria tritici blotch resistance and abiotic stress tolerance. Besides, the variability at cytoplasm level is also important in this species. The development of common wheat-H. chilense alloplasmic lines (nucleus from wheat and cytoplasm from H. chilense) results in fertile or male sterile genotypes, depending on the accession donating the cytoplasm. Furthermore, these alloplasmic lines constitute an ideal system for deepening our knowledge on nuclear-cytoplasm interactions. In conclusion, H. chilense is an interesting source of variability for wheat breeding. © 2011 NIAB.Our work in this area is supported by grants (to S. G. A.) Environmental conditions of dance rooms and its impact on dance conservatories teachers’ health (an Andalusian study)

    Get PDF
Dance teachers have to be in long hours dancing. That entails repetitive movements, loud live music, and as well as forcing their voices. These demands can implicate severe health problems and other kind of illness as discomfort, stress, etc. However, the Spanish Ministry of Health only recognize as professional disease for this line of work, the vocal nodules. For this reason, this research studies the health problems in dance teachers in Andalusia, correlating the results of a survey carried out in different conservatories from Andalusia with measurement of noise emissions levels, assessment of noise exposure, and assessment of thermal environment in the classes measuring the thermal environment variables. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study where the influence of several sounds, such as tapping, castanets, and live music, on the health of dance teachers, musicians, and singers during flamenco classes has been researched. Results showed a correlation between some diseases, such as stress and the high level of sound in the classes. The sound levels were well above those established by European regulations reaching values higher than 85 dB(A) as equivalent continuous sound levels during the class time. This European regulation is stablished for an 8 h/day period, five days per week. The thermal environments are no adequate for this activity, mainly for high temperatures in Cordoba during summer. To improve the current working conditions, some recommendations were given to reduce the number of class hours and establish rest shifts, provide more information on health risks, or renovate the floor of some classrooms

A Narrative Review about Autism Spectrum Disorders and Exclusion of Gluten and Casein from the Diet

    Get PDF
This research received funding from CTS549 group of Psiquiatry and Neurosciences from the University of Granada. Objective: Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) appear in the early stages of neurodevelopment, and they remain constant throughout life. Currently, due to limitations in ASDs treatment, alternative approaches, such as nutritional interventions, have frequently been implemented. The aim of this narrative review is to gather the most relevant and updated studies about dietary interventions related to ASDs etiopathogenesis. Results: Our literature search focused on the gluten- and casein-free (GFCF) diet. The literature found shows the inexistence of enough scientific evidence to support a general recommendation of dietary intervention in children with ASD. Protocols and procedures for assessing risk and safety are also needed. Future lines: Prospective and controlled research studies with larger sample sizes and longer follow-up times are scarce and needed. In addition, studies considering an assessment of intestinal permeability, bacterial population, enzymatic, and inflammatory gastrointestinal activity are interesting to identify possible responders. Besides brain imaging techniques, genetic tests can also contribute as markers to evaluate the comorbidity of gastrointestinal symptoms.University of Granada CTS54
