Use of video technology for verbal repetition in modified ACT and CART
Three individuals with a moderate to severe aphasia and coexisting AOS post left hemisphere stroke participated in this study. A modified Anagram and Copy Treatment (ACT) and Copy and Recall Treatment (CART) with video technology for verbal home practice was implemented. The least severe participant demonstrated some benefit from verbal repetition training, whereas the others had difficulty with independent practice. In the writing condition, all participants met criteria for the trained sets, and one participant demonstrated generalization to untrained items. The results showed that the 5-point scoring system (Helm-Estabrooks, 2003) provided more detailed data on progress, than traditional binary scoring

The Digital Life of Walkable Streets
Walkability has many health, environmental, and economic benefits. That is
why web and mobile services have been offering ways of computing walkability
scores of individual street segments. Those scores are generally computed from
survey data and manual counting (of even trees). However, that is costly, owing
to the high time, effort, and financial costs. To partly automate the
computation of those scores, we explore the possibility of using the social
media data of Flickr and Foursquare to automatically identify safe and walkable
streets. We find that unsafe streets tend to be photographed during the day,
while walkable streets are tagged with walkability-related keywords. These
results open up practical opportunities (for, e.g., room booking services,
urban route recommenders, and real-estate sites) and have theoretical
implications for researchers who might resort to the use social media data to

Validez y confiabilidad de la Escala Satisfacción Familiar en estudiantes universitarios de Lima Metropolitana, Perú
La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar las propiedades psicométricas de la Escala de
Satisfacción Familiar (FSS) en una muestra de 607 estudiantes de una universidad privada en Lima Metropolitana, con edades que oscilan entre 16 a 28 años. Se tradujo la escala con el método de traducción inversa; se realizaron análisis factorial exploratorio y confirmatorio, identificando valores óptimos para una solución unifactorial. Asimismo, se analizó la relación con la variable comunicación familiar, que señala una correlación positiva, directa y con un tamaño del efecto moderado. En el análisis de invarianza según sexo, se encontró un nivel de invarianza débil. Finalmente, se reportan valores óptimos de confiabilidad. Se concluye que la FSS presenta evidencias de validez y confiabilidad, recomendando su uso
Collagen Fiber Regulation in Human Pediatric Aortic Valve Development and Disease
Congenital aortic valve stenosis (CAVS) affects up to 10% of the world population without medical therapies to treat the disease. New molecular targets are continually being sought that can halt CAVS progression. Collagen deregulation is a hallmark of CAVS yet remains mostly undefined. Here, histological studies were paired with high resolution accurate mass (HRAM) collagen-targeting proteomics to investigate collagen fiber production with collagen regulation associated with human AV development and pediatric end-stage CAVS (pCAVS). Histological studies identified collagen fiber realignment and unique regions of high-density collagen in pCAVS. Proteomic analysis reported specific collagen peptides are modified by hydroxylated prolines (HYP), a post-translational modification critical to stabilizing the collagen triple helix. Quantitative data analysis reported significant regulation of collagen HYP sites across patient categories. Non-collagen type ECM proteins identified (26 of the 44 total proteins) have direct interactions in collagen synthesis, regulation, or modification. Network analysis identified BAMBI (BMP and Activin Membrane Bound Inhibitor) as a potential upstream regulator of the collagen interactome. This is the first study to detail the collagen types and HYP modifications associated with human AV development and pCAVS. We anticipate that this study will inform new therapeutic avenues that inhibit valvular degradation in pCAVS and engineered options for valve replacement
Framing or Gaming? Constructing a Study to Explore the Impact of Option Presentation on Consumers
The manner in which choice is framed influences individuals’ decision-making. This research examines the impact of different decision constructs on decision-making by focusing on the more problematic decision constructs: the un-selected and pre-selected optout. The study employs eye-tracking with cued retrospective think-aloud (RTA) to combine quantitative and qualitative data. Eye-tracking will determine how long a user focuses on a decision construct before taking action. Cued RTA where the user will be shown a playback of their interaction will be used to explore their attitudes towards a decision construct and identify problematic designs. This pilot begins the second of a three phase study, which ultimately aims to develop a research model containing the theoretical constructs along with hypothesized causal associations between the constructs to reveal the impact of measures such as decision construct type, default value type and question framing have on the perceived value of the website and loyalty intentions
Oxidative footprinting in the study of structure and function of membrane proteins: Current state and perspectives
Membrane proteins, such as receptors, transporters and ion channels, control the vast majority of cellular signalling and metabolite exchange processes and thus are becoming key pharmacological targets. Obtaining structural information by usage of traditional structural biology techniques is limited by the requirements for the protein samples to be highly pure and stable when handled in high concentrations and in nonnative buffer systems, which is often difficult to achieve for membrane targets. Hence, there is a growing requirement for the use of hybrid, integrative approaches to study the dyna mic and functional aspects of membrane proteins in physiologically relevant conditions. In recent years, significant progress has been made in the field of oxidative labelling techniques and in particular the X-ray radiolytic footprinting in combination with mass spectrometry (MS) (XF-MS), which provide residue-specific information on the solvent accessibility of proteins. In combination with both low- and high-resolution data from other structural biology approaches, it is capable of providing valuable insights into dynamics of membrane proteins, which have been difficult to obtain by other structural techniques, proving a highly complementary technique to address structure and function of membrane targets. XF-MS has demonstrated a unique capability for identification of structural waters and conformational changes in proteins at both a high degree of spatial and a high degree of temporal resolution. Here, we provide a perspective on the place of XF-MS among other structural biology methods and showcase some of the latest developments in its usage for studying water-mediated transmembrane (TM) signalling, ion transport and ligand-induced allosteric conformational changes in membrane proteins

Height and timing of growth spurt during puberty in young people living with vertically acquired HIV in Europe and Thailand.
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to describe growth during puberty in young people with vertically acquired HIV. DESIGN: Pooled data from 12 paediatric HIV cohorts in Europe and Thailand. METHODS: One thousand and ninety-four children initiating a nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor or boosted protease inhibitor based regimen aged 1-10 years were included. Super Imposition by Translation And Rotation (SITAR) models described growth from age 8 years using three parameters (average height, timing and shape of the growth spurt), dependent on age and height-for-age z-score (HAZ) (WHO references) at antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation. Multivariate regression explored characteristics associated with these three parameters. RESULTS: At ART initiation, median age and HAZ was 6.4 [interquartile range (IQR): 2.8, 9.0] years and -1.2 (IQR: -2.3 to -0.2), respectively. Median follow-up was 9.1 (IQR: 6.9, 11.4) years. In girls, older age and lower HAZ at ART initiation were independently associated with a growth spurt which occurred 0.41 (95% confidence interval 0.20-0.62) years later in children starting ART age 6 to 10 years compared with 1 to 2 years and 1.50 (1.21-1.78) years later in those starting with HAZ less than -3 compared with HAZ at least -1. Later growth spurts in girls resulted in continued height growth into later adolescence. In boys starting ART with HAZ less than -1, growth spurts were later in children starting ART in the oldest age group, but for HAZ at least -1, there was no association with age. Girls and boys who initiated ART with HAZ at least -1 maintained a similar height to the WHO reference mean. CONCLUSION: Stunting at ART initiation was associated with later growth spurts in girls. Children with HAZ at least -1 at ART initiation grew in height at the level expected in HIV negative children of a comparable age
