The moderating effect of parenting styles on the relationship between social anxiety and depressive symptomatology in adolescents

Intruduction: The comorbidity between depression and social anxiety is high in adolescence. Parental emotion socialization behaviors have been associated with the development of social skills and depressive symptomatology. Objectives: This study aims to explore the moderating effect of parenting styles on the relationship between social anxiety and depression, to study the associations between them, and to analyze the relationship between parenting styles, social anxiety and depressive symptomatology in adolescents. Methods: The sample consisted of 122 parents and their children. Self-report instruments were used to assess social anxiety, depressive symptomatology and parenting styles. Results: It was found that social anxiety is significantly associated to depression and that the former has a predictive effect on the latter. The parenting styles revealed no significant associations with either depressive symptomatology or with social anxiety, but a moderating effect of explorer parenting style was found in the relationship between social anxiety (public performance) and depressive symptomatology. Conclusions: The present investigation confirmed the existence of a significant association between social anxiety and depressive symptomatology in adolescence and suggests an effect of parental practices of emotional socialization in this relation, which, however, should be replicated in future research. It will also be important to study the effect of parenting styles on children's emotional regulation skills and their possible mediating effect on the relationship between social anxiety and depression.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Utilizou-se o método bibliográfico para constatar que poderia ser aplicada cláusula penal compensatória aos produtos modificados ou coibir a aplicação do direito de arrependimento, com prévia comunicação a seu respeito. Deste modo, verificou-se que deve prevalecer a segunda tese, como sendo mais isonômica e justa a ambas as partes da relação consumerista

Niveles de ecoeficiencia para la optimización de recursos en la Empresa Felecin Ingenieros S.A.C. provincia de Talara.

La presente investigación tiene como propósito determinar el nivel de ecoeficiencia que existe en la empresa Felecin Ingenieros S.A.C. Ubicado en la provincia de Talara – Piura, para la optimización de sus recursos. Para poder conocer el consumo real de estos recursos se elaboró un diagnóstico con información proporcionada por el área de contabilidad y mantenimiento, así como también se hizo uso de la observación directa. Con los datos obtenidos en el diagnóstico se utilizó la Guía de ecoeficiencia del MINAM, en donde se realizó una línea base de ecoeficiencia en las diferentes áreas de la empresa y se evaluaron los indicadores de consumo de energía, consumo de agua, consumo de útiles de oficina, consumo de combustible y gestión de residuos sólidos, para proponer medidas de ecoeficiencia y minimizar los recursos y gastos dentro de la empresa. Como resultado tenemos que la empresa se encuentra en un nivel bueno de ecoeficiencia, dichos datos se obtuvieron mediante la comparación de los rangos establecidos en la tesis de (Chiroque et al, 2016

Characterization of Dunaliella salina strains by flow cytometry: a new approach to select carotenoid hyperproducing strains

In the present work the characterization of different strains of Dunaliella salina from established cell culture collections and various isolates from solar saltworks located in the Canary Island, as well as one mutant, was carried out in order to assess the existence of intraspecific differences and to determine the potential productivity of each one. Morphological characteristics such as cellular size and cellular complexity and parameters linked to cellular physiology, such as pigment content or cellular growth rate, were determined by means of traditional techniques as well as flow cytometry. Results showed a high morphological and physiological intraspecific variability among the studied strains. Results suggest that the application of the lipidic dye Nile red allowed the development of a cytometric method faster than the traditional techniques to select carotenoid hyperproducing strains of microalgae.FC

Reliability and validity of the European Portuguese version of the Social Touch Questionnaire

Social touch is essential for physical and emotional well-being. However, different meanings can be attributed to physical contact during social interactions and may generate bonding or avoidant behaviors. This personal and unique experience is not usually taken into account in health and social care services. The aim of this study is to produce a valid and reliable European Portuguese version of the Social Touch Questionnaire (STQ, Wilhelm et al. in Biol Psychol 58:181–202, 2001. doi:10.1016/S0301-0511(01)00113-2). The STQ is a self-report questionnaire for adolescents and adults measuring behaviors and attitudes towards social touch. The original version was translated into European Portuguese using a forward-back translation process and its feasibility was examined. To evaluate the psychometric properties, a total of 242 Portuguese university students participated in the study (21.3 ± 3.8 years). The STQ was considered feasible, showed adequate internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = .734), and the test–retest correlation with the STQ items demonstrated a high concordance between the tests over a two-week interval (ICC = .990; n = 50). Validity tests were performed, comparing the total score of the STQ with that of the anxiety and avoidance subscales of the Social Interaction and Performance Anxiety and Avoidance Scale (SIPAAS). A very significant conceptual convergence was confirmed between the STQ and with the SIPAAS-Anxiety (r = .64; p < .0001) and with the SIPAAS-Avoidance (r = .59; p < .0001). The exploratory factor analysis, with Promax rotation, revealed 3 factors: dislike of physical touch, liking of familiar physical touch and liking of public physical touch (Cronbach’s alphas ranged from.68 to.75). Psychometric properties confirmed the adaptation of the STQ to the Portuguese culture. Adequação de medicamentos prescritos em pacientes em uso de sonda enteral em um hospital público no sul do Brasil

Patients receiving enteral nutritional therapy are fed via enteral feeding tubes, which are also routes of medical administration. Nutrients and drugs interact with each other and with the gastrointestinal tract; care is needed to ensure that this therapy is properly performed in order to avoid adverse effects related to enteral nutritional therapy. The professionals involved in prescribing, dispensing and administrating drugs by feeding tubes should have the technical ability and skills that ensure the adequacy of the drug treatment in patients who use this type of therapy. There are few clinical protocols that refer to drug use in solid pharmaceutical form via enteral catheter. This study aimed to verify the inadequacy of the prescription of the solid pharmaceutical form through enteral feeding tube in patients hospitalized in a clinical unit in a public hospital in the south of Brazil. This is an observational, cross-sectional study whose data were analyzed from medical prescriptions of patients using enteral tubes. Among the drugs with pharmaceutical form of oral use prescribed via enteral feeding tubes, 94% (604) were prescribed in a solid dosage form, of which 42% (253) were inadequately prescribed. The high prevalence of inadequately prescribed drugs for tube administration demonstrates the importance of the pharmaceutical activity among the multidisciplinary team who assists patients with enteral nutritional therapy

Diabetes Food Control - A mobile application to evaluate the food consumption by diabetic patients

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with high prevalence. A proper diet, knowledge about nutritional profile and adherence on treatment of diabetics are important to improve the quality of life and to reduce healthcare costs. This article aims to present the application Diabetes Food Control, developed to evaluate the diabetic’s feeding, based on a validated questionnaire. On its development, were used Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) of Apache Cordova, HTML5, CSS and JavaScrip languages for portable devices of Android platform. The application was evaluated by nutrition experts, with a adapted questionnaire from Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the thinking aloud technical.
