Oil testing has found widespread use in assessing the quality of the insulation system of a transformer. Techniques such as Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) have been proven to be reliable in this task, but are expensive, laborious and time consuming. It is also not available for field use. This paper proposes the combined use of gas and optical sensing technology for the testing of transformer oil. It provides a low-cost, portable technology capable of fast and reliable field screening of transformers. The method consists of an oil handling and unit as well as a gas and optical sensor array. Gas sensing targets moisture, hydrocarbons and other volatile compounds dissolved in transformer oil; optical measurements provide information on the absorption properties of transformer oil, within a band of frequencies made possible by the recent advances in Blue-LED technology. These measurements are then combined through a pattern recognition system producing a collective decision on the state of the transformer. The performance of the method was evaluated on a database of 26 transformer oil samples, using a leave-one-out validation technique. Our results indicated that the method was capable of categorizing transformer oil into three classes, ‘acceptable,’ ‘marginal’ and ‘bad’ with reasonable accuracy, based on the acidity and furfuraldehyde levels estimated from gas-optical measurements. The results need to be further validated using a larger database of transformer oil samples

Various studies on educational approaches explore the solution to fill the gap between education and society's demands. Specifically in the engineering field, addressing this gap is particularly urgent because previous research indicated that engineering graduates experienced this problem more frequently. On the other hand, our community needs them since engineering is the driver of innovation and community change. Community-based projects, combining community-based research and project-based learning approaches, are potential approaches to meet this purpose, although more research is needed. This study aims to explore students' experiences while involved in community-based projects, including the processes, experiences, feelings, and values obtained during the project. This study used a qualitative approach using an open-ended questionnaire and interviews with 39 engineering students. The results of the study show three main stages in a community-based project in the field of engineering and positive results in terms of cognitive, affective, skills, and values. The dynamics of the process and the potential for community-based project development are provided in the discussion and conclusion section

Mobilization in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 in various joints was extremely fast. This has an impact on the paradigm of people who want to meet their needs instantly, including in the aspect of religious education. Meanwhile, access to information in this era was also used by radicals to carry out propaganda and all things related to it. If these two interests meet (people learn religion instantly and propaganda by radicals) it will certainly endanger the stability and harmony of religious communities in this country. Pesantren as the oldest educational institution in this country must take a role, including building an easy access to information flow, one of which is a website so that the public does not get caught up in radicalist propaganda. Through assistance with the ABCD method, it is hoped that Islamic boarding schools will be able to contribute in spreading friendly Islam in cyberspace. So that radicalism that spreads through the website can be stopped

Pneumonia is a lower tract respiratory infection due to bacteria or viruses. It is a severe disease in the pediatric population. Pneumonia is the leading cause of mortality in children under five years worldwide. One of the problems with pneumonia is the diagnosis, as the symptoms of pneumonia may overlap with other diseases, such as asthma and bronchiolitis. In this work, we propose to develop a method for classifying pneumonia and non-pneumonia using X-ray images. We collected 60 X-ray images from Dr. Sardjito Hospital, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and the dataset from Kaggle. We processed these images through pre-processing algorithms to enhance the image quality, segmentation, white pixel computation, and classification. The novelty of our method is using the ratio of the white pixels from edge detection using the Canny algorithm with the white pixels from segmentation for classifying pneumonia/non-pneumonia. In the Kaggle dataset, our proposed method achieved an accuracy of 86.7%, a sensitivity of 100%, and a specificity of 85%. The classification using the dataset from Dr. Sardjito Hospital yields sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 80%, 60%, and 66.7%, respectively. Despite the low performance in the results, we proved our novel feature, ratio of white pixels, can be used to classify pneumonia/non-pneumonia. We also identified that the local dataset is essential in the algorithm development as it has a different quality from the dataset from modern countries. Further, our simple method can be developed further to support pneumonia diagnosis in resource-limited settings where the advanced computing devices or cloud connection are not available

Kecamatan Tanon Kabupaten Sragen terdapat Desa Tanon. Kecamatan Tanon Kabupaten Sragen terdapat Desa Tanon. Artifacts removal from breath sound recordings in pediatric population

    No full text
Breath sound recordings from pediatric subjects pose more processing complications. Children, especially the younger ones, are not able to follow instructions to stay calm during recording. This makes their recordings not only contain stationary artifacts but also non-stationary artifacts such as movement of subjects and their heartbeats. Further, the breath sounds from pediatric subjects also have lower magnitude compared to adults. In this work, we proposed to address those problems by developing a method to remove the artifacts from breath sound recordings. We implemented a combination of a Butterworth band pass filter and a discrete wavelet filter. We tested three types of wavelets (Coiflet, Symlet and Daubechies). Ten level decompositions and a set of hard thresholds were implemented in our work. Our results show that our developed method was capable of removing the artifacts significantly while maintaining the signal of interest. The highest signal to noise ratio improvement (10.65dB) was achieved by 32 orders Symlet
