Visual management (VM) is the managerial strategy of consciously integrating visual tools in workspaces with the aim of increasing transparency on construction sites. Several VM tools and approaches that had been originally developed in the manufacturing context were implemented in construction. However, research on the application of VM in construction as a managerial strategy is scarce. This paper aims to investigate and classify the types of visual devices that can be used in construction sites through multiple case studies carried out in nine construction companies actively implementing VM. It also discusses strategies for the implementation of VM in construction. The main contributions of this investigation are: (1) a VM tools taxonomy that can be used to identify VM application opportunities, providing a basis for evaluating the level of VM implementation in construction; and (2) identification of critical factors for the implementation and various features of the VM strategy in construction

______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTMargaret Atwood, when (re)writing the Odyssey from Penelope's perspective in an attempt to answer the restlessness that haunted her; "what led to the hanging of the maids, and what was Penelope really up to?" makes us rethink and question the place of women in the big narratives, always as an object and never as a subject. She also puts under suspicion certain hierarchies accepted as universal. Taking into consideration the fact that the author is appropriating a classical text, the theoretical approach focuses on the concept of dialogism by Bakhtin, and his reflections on the parody genre, as well as Kristeva’s concept of intertextuality. Moreover, the gender perspective that characterizes the work of the author demands a specific theoretical approach; gender studies

Over the last 20 years, financialization of the housing market has become a topic of increasing public and political concern, especially in high-demand cities. It has also become an important element in academic discussion. The objective of the research was to undertake a comparative study across a range of countries with very different experiences to help understand how financialization is defined and experienced in different contexts and its relative importance as compared to other determinants of housing outcomes. Our research concentrates on 12 countries in North America, Western Europe, Australasia and parts of Asia, plus the city of Hong Kong. These countries were chosen to reflect a variety of relevant experience but also because each has a strong academic community analysing housing and urban systems and the development of financial markets. Within these countries, we identified cities where financialization of housing has been seen as particularly relevant. Hong Kong was included as an important Asian housing market.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The test was conducted during March-April 2007, at a seedling nursery of Unoeste, Presidente Prudente, São Paulo State, Brazil. It was used sweet pepper variety Cascadura Ikeda. The measured variables were plant height, root length, leaf number, dry mass of aerial part and of roots. The use of hydrogel did not influence the root system of the seedling peppers. There was no effect of hydrogel in the shoot length, but the hidrogel doses affected the aerial part dry weight because when we increased the dose of the hydrogel was observed in response to developing leaves and not the height growth. This fact promoted a significant positive linear adjustment of the aerial part mass dry with increasing dose of hydrogel, providing a change of better quality

Virus-like particles (VLPs) are a particular subset of subunit vaccines which are currently explored as safer alternatives to live attenuated or inactivated vaccines. Retroviruses have been widely explored as vectors for gene therapy and as scaffolds for vaccine candidates. One of retrovirus-like particles (retroVLPs) most attractive characteristic is their ability to incorporate heterologous envelope proteins, known as pseudotyping, as a mean to manipulate tropism or to present foreign antigens. As pseudotyping is a non-selective process, host cellular proteins are also included in retroVLPs membrane [1]. Many studies have addressed the identity of these host-proteins for particle characterization nevertheless, the contribution of host-proteins in retrovirus immunogenicity remains unclear. Moreover, patients infected with HIV and HCV are known to develop autoantibodies targeting self-proteins. As the origin of these autoantibodies is still unclear, the adventitious nature of host–derived proteins present in retroVLPs cannot be discarded. Tetraspanins, in particular CD81, are amongst the most abundant host-proteins present in retrovirus membrane. Here we analyzed (i) the immunogenicity of tetraspanins in retroVLPs produced in xenogeneic cells (ii) the influence of CD81 in the diversity of host-proteins incorporated in retroVLPs and (iii) the impact of CD81-depletion in developing a retroVLPs-based HCV vaccine candidate. Our results suggest tetraspanins are major immunogens present in retroVLPs. We show that CD81 is highly incorporated in retroVLPs produced in HEK293 cells inducing strong antibody and T-cell immune response in mice. Our results also show an increased diversity of tetraspanins in retroVLPs after CD81 depletion from producer cells with preservation of the overall immunogenic profile of retrovirus particles [2]. We further explore the impact of CD81 depletion on the development of a retroVLPs-based HCV vaccine candidate and we observe that HCV E2 incorporation on retroVLPs is directly affected by CD81 expression, thus diminished in CD81-negative retroVLPs. These results highlight the dynamic and non-innocuous nature of host-derived proteins present in retroVLPs membrane. We consider this dynamic nature and its impact in product quality as an additional feature to be considered when developing retrovirus-based biopharmaceuticals.
