Nanoscale relationships between uranium and carbonaceous material in alteration halos around unconformity-related uranium deposits of the Kiggavik camp, Paleoproterozoic Thelon Basin, Nunavut, Canada
International audienceConcentrations of 7% U and 1% Cu were identified in massive, brecciated, and amorphous carbonaceous materials (CM) characterized by strongly negative values of carbon stable isotopes (δ13C = − 39.1‰ relative to PDB). The anomalies are restricted to clay alteration halos developed in Neoarchean Woodburn Lake group metagreywacke that is the predominant host of unconformity-related uranium (U) deposits in the Kiggavik exploration camp. Petrographic and microstructural analyses by SEM, X-Ray Diffraction, HR-TEM and RAMAN spectroscopy identified carbon veils, best described as graphene-like carbon, upon which nano-scale uraninite crystals are distributed. CM are common in U systems such as the classic Cretaceous roll-front deposits and the world-class Paleoproterozoic unconformity-related deposits. However, the unusual spatial and textural association of U minerals and CM described herein raises questions on mechanisms that may have been responsible for the precipitation of the CM followed by crystallization of U oxides on its surfaces. Based on the characteristics presented herein, the CMs at Kiggavik are interpreted as hydrothermal in origin. Исследовали влияние оксианионов ванадия на геном сои (Glycine max L., Merr.) в устойчивой к вольфраму (WR) клеточной линии. WR-линия показывает перекрестную устойчивость к оксианионам V⁵⁺. Установлено наличие одинаковых по размеру RAPD-ампликонов, дифференциально синтезируемых с ДНК исходного каллуса и WR-линии, которая последовательно культивируется в присутствии летальных доз оксианионов W⁶⁺ и V⁵⁺. Предположено, что в геноме сои имеются локусы, повышенная нестабильность которых обусловлена действием разных стрессоров.Вивчали вплив оксианіонів ванадію на геном сої (Glycine max L., Merr.) у стійкої до вольфраму (WR) клітинної лінії. Така лінія показує стійкість до оксианіонів V⁵⁺. Встановлено наявність однакових за розміром RAPD-ампліконів, які диференційно синтезуються з ДНК вихідного калюсу та WR-лінії, що послідовно культивується у присутності летальних доз оксианіонів W⁶⁺ і V⁵⁺. Припущено, що в геномі сої є локуси, підвищена нестабільність яких обумовлена дією різних стресорів.The effect of vanadium oxyanions on genome of soybean (Glycine max L., Merr.) in tungsten-resistant cell line was studied. The line is resistant to V⁵⁺-oxyanions. RAPD-amplicons with identical length are differentially synthesized from DNAs of tungsten-resistant cell line as well as of the initial culture was shown by using the lethal dose of oxyanions W⁶⁺ and then V⁵⁺. Multinuclear NMR as a tool for studying local order and dynamics in CH3NH3PbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) hybrid perovskites
International audienceWe report on Pb, Br, N, H, C and H NMR experiments for studying the local order and dynamics in hybrid perovskite lattices. Pb NMR experiments conducted at room temperature on a series of MAPbX compounds (MA = CHNH; X = Cl, Br and I) showed that the isotropic Pb NMR shift is strongly dependent on the nature of the halogen ions. Therefore Pb NMR appears to be a very promising tool for the characterisation of local order in mixed halogen hybrid perovskites. Pb NMR on MAPbBrI served as a proof of concept. Proton, C and N NMR experiments confirmed the results previously reported in the literature. Low temperature deuterium NMR measurements, down to 25 K, were carried out to investigate the structural phase transitions of MAPbBr. Spectral lineshapes allow following the successive phase transitions of MAPbBr. Finally, quadrupolar NMR lineshapes recorded in the orthorhombic phase were compared with simulated spectra, using DFT calculated electric field gradients (EFG). Computed data do not take into account any temperature effect. Thus, the discrepancy between the calculated and experimental EFG evidences the fact that MA cations are still subject to significant dynamics, even at 25 K
An Effective Temperature Scale for Late M and L Dwarfs, from Resonance Absorption Lines of CsI and RbI
We present Keck HIRES spectra of 6 late-M dwarfs and 11 L dwarfs. Our goal is
to assign effective temperatures to the objects using detailed atmospheric
models and fine analysis of the alkali resonance absorption lines of CsI and
RbI. These yield mutually consistent results (+-150 K) when we use
``cleared-dust'' models, which account for the removal of refractory species
from the molecular states but do not include dust opacities. We find a tendency
for the RbI line to imply a slightly higher temperature, which we ascribe to an
incomplete treatment of the overlying molecular opacities. The final effective
temperatures we adopt are based on the CsI fits alone, though the RbI fits
support the CsI temperature sequence. This work, in combination with results
from the infrared, hints that dust in these atmospheres has settled out of the
high atmosphere but is present in the deep photosphere. We also derive radial
and rotational velocities for all the objects, finding that the previously
discovered trend of rapid rotation for very low mass objects is quite
pervasive. To improve on our analysis, there is a clear need for better
molecular line lists and a more detailed understanding of dust formation and

Means and covariance functions for geostatistical compositional data: an axiomatic approach
This work focuses on the characterization of the central tendency of a sample
of compositional data. It provides new results about theoretical properties of
means and covariance functions for compositional data, with an axiomatic
perspective. Original results that shed new light on the geostatistical
modeling of compositional data are presented. As a first result, it is shown
that the weighted arithmetic mean is the only central tendency characteristic
satisfying a small set of axioms, namely continuity, reflexivity and marginal
stability. Moreover, this set of axioms also implies that the weights must be
identical for all parts of the composition. This result has deep consequences
on the spatial multivariate covariance modeling of compositional data. In a
geostatistical setting, it is shown as a second result that the proportional
model of covariance functions (i.e., the product of a covariance matrix and a
single correlation function) is the only model that provides identical kriging
weights for all components of the compositional data. As a consequence of these
two results, the proportional model of covariance function is the only
covariance model compatible with reflexivity and marginal stability

TGFβ promotes low IL10-producing ILC2 with profibrotic ability involved in skin fibrosis in systemic sclerosis
Objective : Innate lymphoid cells-2 (ILC2) were shown to be involved in the development of lung or hepatic fibrosis. We sought to explore the functional and phenotypic heterogeneity of ILC2 in skin fibrosis within systemic sclerosis (SSc). Methods : Blood samples and skin biopsies from healthy donor or patients with SSc were analysed by immunostaining techniques. The fibrotic role of sorted ILC2 was studied in vitro on dermal fibroblast and further explored by transcriptomic approach. Finally, the efficacy of a new treatment against fibrosis was assessed with a mouse model of SSc. Results : We found that ILC2 numbers were increased in the skin of patients with SSc and correlated with the extent of skin fibrosis. In SSc skin, KLRG1− ILC2 (natural ILC2) were dominating over KLRG1+ ILC2 (inflammatory ILC2). The cytokine transforming growth factor-β (TGFβ), whose activity is increased in SSc, favoured the expansion of KLRG1- ILC2 simultaneously decreasing their production of interleukin 10 (IL10), which regulates negatively collagen production by dermal fibroblasts. TGFβ-stimulated ILC2 also increased myofibroblast differentiation. Thus, human KLRG1- ILC2 had an enhanced profibrotic activity. In a mouse model of SSc, therapeutic intervention-combining pirfenidone with the administration of IL10 was required to reduce the numbers of skin infiltrating ILC2, enhancing their expression of KLRG1 and strongly alleviating skin fibrosis. Conclusion : Our results demonstrate a novel role for natural ILC2 and highlight their inter-relationships with TGFβ and IL10 in the development of skin fibrosis, thereby opening up new therapeutic approaches in SSc
