Shedding light on the ttˉt \bar t asymmetry: the photon handle

    Get PDF
We investigate a charge asymmetry in ttˉγt \bar t \gamma production at the LHC that provides complementary information to the measured asymmetries in ttˉt \bar t production. We estimate the experimental uncertainty in its measurement at the LHC with 8 and 14 TeV. For new physics models that simultaneously reproduce the asymmetry excess in ttˉt \bar t at the Tevatron and the SM-like asymmetry at the LHC, the measurement in ttˉγt \bar t \gamma at the LHC could exhibit significant deviations with respect to the SM prediction.Comment: LaTeX 15 page

Single Vectorlike Quark Production at the LHC

A gluon resonance G of mass below 1 TeV could be the origin of the t\bar{t} forward-backward asymmetry observed at the Tevatron provided that new decay modes G->\bar{q}Q, with q a standard quark and Q its massive excitation, make G broad enough. We consider all the different cases, with q the top, the bottom or a light quark and dominant decay modes Q->Wq' or Q->Zq. We show that current experimental searches are unable to probe the model, but that minimal departures from these analyses can explore a large region of its parameter space for the current LHC luminosity. This includes the challenging case with the new quarks decaying mostly into light quark flavors. In some channels not only the heavy quark but also the massive gluon can be reconstructed, which would stablish the origin of the t\bar{t} asymmetry. Similar analyses can be applied to more general models with new massive gluons and vectorlike quarks.Comment: 17 pages, 8 figures. Version 2: references adde

Validation of the Scale of Emotional States in the Physical Education Context

    Get PDF
The purpose of the present study was to validate an instrument of student emotional experiences in the Spanish Physical Education context. The sample of participants consisted of 864 secondary education students from various educational institutions of Spain who ranged in age from 13 to 19 years. To assess the psychometric properties of the Scale of Emotions in Physical Education (SEPE), various types of analyses were conducted. The factor structure of the SEPE was examined through confirmatory factorial analysis in relation to two models. In the first model, it was proposed that the eight first order factors, which represented the eight emotional states, would be correlated amongst each other. In the second model, an eight-factor model with two higher order factors was proposed, with these higher order factors representing distinct sets of positive and negative emotions. The results provide support the presence of an eight-factor second order model which consisted of sets of four positive emotions and four negative emotions. These results provide evidence for the reliability and validity of the SEPE within the Spanish Physical Education context

Model-independent measurement of the top quark polarisation

    Get PDF
We introduce a new asymmetry in the decay t -> W b -> l nu b, which is shown to be directly proportional to the polarisation of the top quark along a chosen axis, times a sum of W helicity fractions. The latter have already been precisely measured at the Tevatron and the Large Hadron Collider. Therefore, this new asymmetry can be used to obtain a model-independent measurement of the polarisation of top quarks produced in any process at hadron or lepton colliders.Comment: LaTeX 12 pages. Adaptation and Validation of the Mind-Wandering Questionnaire (MWQ) in Physical Education Classes and Analysis of Its Role as Mediator between Teacher and Anxiety

Physical education (PE) classes are one of the primary means of adopting healthy lifestyles and contribute greatly to personal well-being. However, it is necessary that students pay attention and do not enter a mind-wandering state as this can be negative for the purposes of PE classes. Therefore, we adapted and validated the Mind-Wandering Questionnaire (MWQ) to the Spanish PE context and analyzed the influence of the teacher on this new variable. Two independent samples of high school students between the ages of 13 and 19 participated in the study. In order to assess the psychometric properties of the MWQ, various analyses were carried out. The results of the confirmatory factorial analysis (CFA) provided support for the structure of the questionnaire. The structure of the model was gender-invariant. The Cronbach alpha value was higher than 0.70 and showed an adequate level of temporal stability. In addition, we present a second study in which high school students between the ages of 13 and 19 participated, and which are independent of the first study. The analyses in this study were mainly based on structural equation modelling, and demonstrated the teacher’s influence on mind-wandering and showed that mind-wandering acted as a predictor of anxiety in high school students. The results of this study provided evidence of the reliability and validity of the MWQ in the Spanish PE context

Actions to be taken in Mexico towards education 4.0 and society 5.0

Education in Mexico has not evolved in the way it is taught and evaluated. In the historical moment that postmodernism enters, it has not been possible to adapt to Information and Communication Technologies(ICT), or rapid technological innovation, or changes and trends in the industry, to the sharing economy or the rise of distance races. In its analysis, an essential deficiency is detected in the current education models, and it is detected that educational freedom is nil or scarce, which has led to poor student performance, high youth unemployment, which cause severe social problems and the economy of the economy. The current government is working closely with the private sector to connect education and promote employment. It is necessary to grant public schools more autonomy, freedom and responsibility. This paper explains how to act so that Mexico can adapt education 4.0 with solid steps to reach society 5.0

The Influence of the Social Context on Motivation towards the Practice of Physical Activity and the Intention to be Physically Active

    Get PDF
According toWHOdata, only around 20% of adolescents participate in physical activity (PA) during their free time. The social context can act as a support for adolescents to do PA, given the e ect that both parents, friends and teachers have on young people’s behaviour owing to the large amount of time and influence they have on them. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyse the role of the social context on adolescents’ motivation to practise PA and their intention to be physically active. This study involved the participation of students in compulsory and post-compulsory secondary education. Several statistical analyses were performed, including three confirmatory factorial analyses of the scales and a structural equations model that explains the causal relationships between the variables. The results showed how support for autonomy in the social context positively predicts autonomous motivation, whereas the psychological control of the social context negatively predicts it. Autonomous motivation positively predicted intent, attitude, behavioural control and subjective norms, and consequently, the practice of physical activity. In short, the study showed how the three validated scales have adequate goodness-of-fit indices while the structural equations model demonstrated the influence of the social context on the student’s motivational processes and the adoption of active life habits

In this research the current requirements to higher education, which should be in line with the scientific-technological development while encouraging the development potential of each student, are considered. A summary of the essential relationships between the epistemological nature of physics since its connotation for teaching and learning process in college is shown. Furthermore, the epistemological characteristics of this science, which have a direct and relationship with their didactic process oriented to the development of the creativity in students, is valued. Also the significance that may have the study of physics for students when linked to other sciences and life in general is taken into account. For this objective the experimental - practical activities play an important role

Formación ambiental del estudiante de arquitectura en el contexto cubano.

    Get PDF
