An approach for identifying collaborative business opportunities for networked organizations : application to connected and autonomous vehicles
This paper presents the results of a study conducted with a network of organizations involved in the connected and autonomous vehicle's technology as an emerging trend, which aimed at developing an approach for the identification of collaborative business opportunities by deploying coopetition theory, design thinking principles, and business model theory. The purpose of this paper is twofold. Firstly, it tries to develop an approach that will enable organisations to identify collaborative business opportunities and, secondly, provides insights into the challenges and requirements for the realization of full scaled solutions for the connected and autonomous vehicles
Demystifying supply chain visibility - a systematic literature review
Supply chain visibility (SCV) has been in trend after the millennium and raised interest of both academics and practitioners. However, there is still an ambiguity on the topic, which hinders a proper SCV application. This study aims to clarify the fuzziness of the area by conducting a systematic literature review. By reviewing 67 articles, we have identified a conceptual model that covers three main roles of information sharing for SCV and their impacts on the positive and negative constructs of SCV. This framework illuminates the inter-construct interactions and, also provides diagnostic insights for the implementation of SCV in the firms
Cardiovascular Disease in Inflammatory Joint Disorders:The interplay between risk factors, inflammation and therapy
Scope of this thesis In this thesis the cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in inflammatory joint diseases (IJD) was investigated, focusing on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA). We aimed to create awareness of this high CVD risk by investigating the magnitude of CVD prevalence in IJD patients over the last decades, also considering new treatment modalities such as biological disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARD) and imaging techniques such as 18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography (18F-FDG-PET/CT). In addition, traditional and novel risk factors for CVD and the effects of anti-inflammatory therapy on these risk factors were assessed. Lastly, we revised new EULAR recommendations for CVD risk management in IJD and proposed ideas for future research. Conclusion Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory process, which is further enhanced by the chronic inflammation inherent to IJD. This has implications for health care professionals, especially rheumatologists and cardiologists, but IJD patients should also be aware of their increased CVD risk and take timely precautions. Acknowledging this high risk is an important step preceding the implementation of strategies for prediction, prevention and management of CVD in IJD. There lies an evidence gap which needs to be filled in the future and general practice guidelines need to be developed to reduce CVD risk in these patients
Direct Evidence for P2Y2 Receptor Involvement in Vascular Response to Injury
Objectives
Extracellular nucleotide release at the site of arterial injury mediates proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (SMC). Our aim was to investigate the role of the P2Y2 nucleotide receptor (P2Y2R) in neointimal hyperplasia.
Approach and Results
Vascular injury was induced by implantation of a polyethylene cuff around the femoral artery in wild-type and P2Y2 receptor-deficient mice (P2Y2R−/−). Electron microscopy was used to analyze monocyte and lymphocyte influx to the intima 36 hours post-injury. Compared to wild-type (WT) littermates, P2Y2R−/− mice exhibited a 3-fold decreased number of mononuclear leukocytes invading the intima (p<0.05). Concomitantly, migration of smooth muscle cells was decreased by more than 60% (p<0.05) a resulting in a sharp inhibition of intimal thickening formation in P2Y2R−/− mice (n=15) 14 days after cuff placement. In vitro, loss of P2Y2 receptor significantly impaired monocyte migration in response to nucleotide agonists. Furthermore, transgenic rats over-expressing the P2Y2R developed accelerated intimal lesions resulting in more than 95% luminal stenosis (P<0.05, n=10).
Conclusions
Loss-and gain-of-function approaches established a direct evidence for P2Y2 receptor involvement in neointimal hyperplasia. Specific anti-P2Y2 receptor therapies may be used against restenosis and bypass graft failure

International Cooperation on Law against Terrorism: The Harmonization of Antiterror Laws of Turkey and Macedonia
The number of terrorist attacks has been steadily increasing in the past decade. Also, the number of countries exposed to the threat of terrorism is increasing. Terrorism is getting more momentum and wider proportions. Most countries have adopted new legal provisions against the terrorism. The new technologies enable terrorist groups to attract new members, to develop new techniques, to transfer money for financing terrorism, to reach easier worldwide communication and movement between countries. Taking into account the extent of terrorism, the new anti-terrorism legislation is necessary for the prevention of terrorist attacks in future. But, at the final stage, the success of the new legal framework will depend on the international cooperation and good faith and honesty of the global powers. The aim of this article is to review the anti-terror legislations in Turkey and Macedonia, UN Security Council resolutions and EU conventions related to terrorism. In this context, a comparative method of legal research is used to determine the applicability of the existing legislation that regulates this issue
Targeting inflammation to reduce cardiovascular disease risk: a realistic clinical prospect?
Data from basic science experiments is overwhelmingly supportive of the causal role of immune-inflammatory response(s) at the core of atherosclerosis, and therefore the theoretical potential to manipulate the inflammatory response to prevent cardiovascular events. However, extrapolation to humans requires care and we still lack definitive evidence to show that interfering in immune-inflammatory processes may safely lessen clinical atherosclerosis. In this review, we discuss key therapeutic targets in the treatment of vascular inflammation, placing basic research in to a wider clinical perspective, as well as identifying outstanding questions
Membrane Paradigm Approach to the Johannsen-Psaltis Black Hole
The Johannsen-Psaltis (JP) black hole is a phenomenologically viable metric
obtained by judiciously deforming the Kerr black hole such that the metric is
asymptotically flat and causal and is consistent with the weak field,
post-Newtonian tests of gravity; however, it has additional hairs besides its
mass and angular momentum. As it deviates from the Kerr black hole in the
strong coupling regime, it is a useful metric to test the Kerr hypothesis that
states that all astrophysical black holes are of the Kerr type. Here we give a
membrane description of this black hole that effectively amounts to replacing
the observable part of the black hole with a fluid with thermal properties. A
timelike membrane, a stretched horizon local in time is assumed to exist. This
membrane is expected to approximate the null event horizon that is highly
non-local in time. We derive the energy-momentum tensor of the fluid and all
the transport coefficients using the action formulation to the membrane as
advocated by Parikh and Wilczek. In the fluid description, one observes that
the finiteness of the transport coefficients constrains the additional hairs of
the Johannsen-Psaltis black hole. Analytically continuing the pressure of the
fluid to all values of the radial coordinate , one obtains interesting Van
der Waals-type behavior of the pressure of the fluid which diverges at the
radius of the outer ergosphere, lending support, from the membrane paradigm's
perspective to the claim that relativistic astrophysical jets are produced by
the ergoregion of the black hole.Comment: 17 pages, 3 figures, matches the published versio
