    Role of color Doppler ultrasound in the diagnosis of nonpalpable testes

    Purpose Color Doppler ultrasound has been used for the diagnosis of torsion of testes. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity of this noninvasive tool in detecting impalpable testes.Patients and methods Twenty-five children with nonpalpable testes were treated at the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Institute of Medical Science, Banaras, between 2007 and 2009. Color Doppler ultrasound was used for detecting the position, size, and vascularity of nonpalpable testes. These patients were subsequently revaluated by laparoscopy.Results Out of 25 cases, 15 cases were unilateral and 10 cases were bilateral (a total of 35 nonpalpable testes). The color Doppler ultrasound study successfully localized 30 of the 35 nonpalpable testes, which were confirmed by subsequent laparoscopic examination. The sensitivity of color Doppler in locating testes was 85.71% (95% confidence interval = 0.64–0.97).Conclusion Color Doppler ultrasound is an effective noninvasive method for the initial diagnosis of impalpable testes and for planning its subsequent management.Keywords: color Doppler ultrasound, laparoscopy, nonpalpable teste

    The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of pesantren education on student achievement in PAI subjects at Singosari Malang Public High School. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and interviews. while for data collection using observations, documents, questionnaires and interviews. The sample consisted of all class X IIS consisting of 35 students who live in boarding schools. After collecting data, the researcher analyzes the data by scoring, so that each question is given a score to find out the percentage of the answer. Then the researchers conducted several tests consisting of validity tests, validity testing was used to measure the questionnaire. Then the reliability test is used to determine whether the questionnaire is reliable and reliable. The reliability test in this study used the alpha crombach formula and obtained a value of 0.770. Whereas for simple linear regression analysis obtained based on the significant value of the coefficient table and obtained a significant value of 0,000> 0.05 so that it can be concluded that the variable X affects the Y variable

    Effective management of emergency funds is needed during the global Covid-19 pandemic, which is currently happening in almost all corners of the world. This pandemic has an impact on sluggish economic activity which demands immediate solutions for improvements, both from a normative and practical side. Education related to emergency funds in order to increase public knowledge can be an urgent solution to be carried out immediately. One of the potential elements of society that is rarely developed to be used as a solution for economic improvement in the pandemic era is the youth because the majority of youth do not yet have an unstable income so they are vulnerable to being economically affected during the pandemic. The purpose of this program is to assist the management of emergency funds during a pandemic, both with online entrepreneurship development and effective investment arrangements. 68 young man from Solo and around are participate in this program. The method used in the implementation of the program is technical assistants by opening online classes with sources from academics and practitioners. This method consists of the preparation stage with coordination, the implementation stage with the creation of a curriculum, the execution of webinars and observations and the evaluation stage. This program collaborates with the NGO Solo Bersimfoni as an organization that cares for Indonesia's young generation. The expected benefit from this program is increased knowledge regarding the management of emergency funds in times of a global pandemic which is needed in order to rebuild a stable economy during and after a pandemic. The result of this program is the transfer of financial management knowledge to young people, especially students around Solo Raya. The conclusion obtained from the implementation of the post-program survey is that care is still needed to teach financial independence during the pandemic for youth. Pengelolaan dana darurat yang efektif diperlukan dalam masa pandemi global Covid-19 yang saat ini sedang terjadi hampir di seluruh pelosok dunia. Pandemi ini berdampak pada lesunya aktivitas perekonomian yang menuntut untuk segera diadakan perbaikan yang solutif, baik dari sisi normatif maupun sisi praktis. Edukasi terkait dana darurat dalam rangka meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat dapat menjadi salah satu solusi yang urgen untuk segera dilakukan. Salah satu elemen masyarakat yang potensial namun jarang dikembangkan untuk dijadikan solusi perbaikan perekonomian di era pandemi adalah para pemuda karena mayoritas pemuda belum memiliki pendapatan yang tidak stabil sehingga rentan terdampak secara ekonomi dalam masa pandemi. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk mendampingi pengelolaan dana darurat di masa pandemi, baik dengan pengembangan kewirausahaan secara online maupun penyusunan investasi secara efektif. Sebanyak 68 partisipan yang sebagian besar adalah pemuda dari Solo sekitar mengikuti pengabdian ini secara online. Metode yang dilakukan dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian merupakan technical assistants dengan membuka kelas online dengan narasumber dari pihak akademisi maupun pihak praktisi. Metode ini terdiri dari tahap persiapan dengan koordinasi, tahap pelaksanaan dengan pembuatan kurikulum, eksekusi webinar dan observasi serta tahap evaluasi. Program ini menggandeng LSM Solo Bersimfoni sebagai salah satu organisasi yang peduli terhadap generasi muda Indonesia. Manfaat yang diharapkan dari pengabdian ini adalah bertambahnya pengetahuan terkait pengelolaan dana darurat di masa pandemi global yang dibutuhkan dalam rangka membangun kembali perekonomian yang stabil selama dan pasca pandemi. Hasil pengabdian yakni terlaksananya transfer pengetahuan manajemen keuangan kepada para pemuda terutama mahasiswa di sekitar Solo Raya. Kesimpulan yang didapat dari pelaksanaan survey pasca pengabdian adalah masih diperlukan kepedulian untuk mengajar pada independensi keuangan di masa pandemi bagi para pemuda

    Dishonorable discharge is the termination of the Police service period by an authorized official against a member of the Indonesian National Police for certain reasons. As for the formulation of the problem from this research, what are the factors that cause members of the police to commit criminal acts of theft with violence at the Lampung Regional Police, and what are the considerations for the commission of the Porli code of ethics in imposing sanctions on members of the Indonesian National Police who commit criminal acts of theft with violence. The approach used in this study is a normative juridical approach and an empirical juridical approach to obtain correct and objective research results. The results of this study indicate that the factors that cause police officers to commit crimes of theft and violence against civilians are based on 2 (two) driving factors, namely internal factors where the perpetrators have less self-control and weak faith and are far from the Almighty so that the perpetrators fell and committed the crime of theft with violence. In addition to these internal factors, external factors also greatly influence the occurrence of criminal acts of theft by violence committed by perpetrators, and the considerations of the Police Code of Ethics Commission in imposing sanctions on members of the National Police who commit criminal acts of theft by violence against civilians are 5 (five) points namely, firstly, the defendant IS has violated the Porli code of ethics, secondly, the testimony of witnesses who were in court, thirdly, the accreditor as the prosecutor has been able to prove his charges, fourthly, mitigating and providing facts.Pemberhentian tidak dengan hormat adalah pengakhiran masa dinas Kepolisian oleh pejabat yang berwenang terhadap seorang anggota Kepolisian Negara Republik Indonesia karena sebab-sebab tertentu. Adapun rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini, apakah faktor penyebab anggota kepolisian melakukan tindak pidana pencurian dengan kekerasan di Polda Lampung, dan bagaimana pertimbangan komisi kode etik Porli dalam memberikan sanksi terhadap anggota Polri yang melakukan tindak pidana pencurian dengan kekerasan . Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan yuridis normatif dan pendekatan yuridis empiris untuk mendapatkan hasil penelitian yang benar dan objektif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa faktor Penyebab Anggota Kepolisian Melakukan Tindak Pidana Pencurian Dan Dengan Kekerasan Terhadap Warga Sipil di dasarkan pada 2 (dua) faktor pendorong yakni faktor internal dan faktor eksternal yang mana pelaku memiliki pengendalian diri yang kurang serta keimanan yang lemaha dan jauh dari Maha kuasa sehingga pelaku terjerumus dan melakukan tindak Pidana pencurian dengan kerasan. Selain Faktor internal tersebut faktor ekseternal juga sangat berpengaruh besar terhadap terjadi tindak pidana pencurian dengan kekerasan yang di lakukan pelaku, dan pertimbangan Komisi Kode Etik Porli dalam memberikan sanksi terhadap Anggota Polri yang melakukan tindak pidana pencurian dengan kekerasan terhadap warga sipil ada 5 (lima) poin yakni pertama terdakwa IS telah melanggar Kode etik porli, Kedua adalah keterangan para saksi yang di dalam persidangan, ketiga Akreditor selaku penuntut telah dapat membuktikan dalam tuntutannya, kempat adalah fakta-fakta yang meringankan.     Mapping The Potential of Mangrove Planting in The Rehabilitation of Coastal Ecosystems Using Drone Technology

    Mangroves, as one of the vegetation types that is a natural stronghold from coastal disasters, also function as a shelter and find food for various biota in coastal ecosystems. Therefore, protecting the mangrove ecosystem from degradation is very important. One effort that needs is ecosystem rehabilitation through mangrove planting in coastal environments. To support it, a design was devised using drones and remote-sensing vehicles to assist in making mangrove planting designs. This research was conducted in Jenggalu Estuary, Gading Cempaka District, Bengkulu City. This research aims to study the use of drones in mapping potential mangrove planting areas and designing a mangrove planting plan to rehabilitate coastal ecosystems. In mapping using drones, the height used was 80 meters with 80% overlap, and 2.87 hectares of potential mangrove planting area was obtained. Based on the research results, drones in mapping are very useful in calculating the area of potential mangrove planting areas and designing effective planting plans. There are four scenarios for planting mangroves with a spacing of 0.5 m, 1 m, 2 m, and 3 m, respectively. For a planting area of 2.87 ha, the number of seeds needed is 114,800 planting points for a distance of 0.5 m, 28,700 planting points for a distance of 1 m, 7,175 planting points for a distance of 2 m, and 3,189 planting points for a distance of 3

    Observation of Dirac plasmons in a topological insulator

    Plasmons are the quantized collective oscillations of electrons in metals and doped semiconductors. The plasmons of ordinary, massive electrons are since a long time basic ingredients of research in plasmonics and in optical metamaterials. Plasmons of massless Dirac electrons were instead recently observed in a purely two-dimensional electron system (2DEG)like graphene, and their properties are promising for new tunable plasmonic metamaterials in the terahertz and the mid-infrared frequency range. Dirac quasi-particles are known to exist also in the two-dimensional electron gas which forms at the surface of topological insulators due to a strong spin-orbit interaction. Therefore,one may look for their collective excitations by using infrared spectroscopy. Here we first report evidence of plasmonic excitations in a topological insulator (Bi2Se3), that was engineered in thin micro-ribbon arrays of different width W and period 2W to select suitable values of the plasmon wavevector k. Their lineshape was found to be extremely robust vs. temperature between 6 and 300 K, as one may expect for the excitations of topological carriers. Moreover, by changing W and measuring in the terahertz range the plasmonic frequency vP vs. k we could show, without using any fitting parameter, that the dispersion curve is in quantitative agreement with that predicted for Dirac plasmons.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, published in Nature Nanotechnology (2013

    The Effect of 20 Hz versus 1 Hz Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation on Motor Dysfunction in Parkinson’s Disease: Which Is More Beneficial?

    BACKGROUND: There is evidence that both high and low frequency rTMS may have therapeutic effects on motor performance of Parkinson's disease. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to conduct the first direct comparison of the two approaches. METHODS: 52 PD patients were randomly classified into two groups. The first group received 20 Hz and the 2nd group received 1 Hz rTMS with a total of 2000 pulses over M1of each hemisphere for ten days. Effects were assessed with the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale part III (UPDRS), Instrumental Activity of Daily Living (IADL), and a self-assessment score (SA) before, after the last session, and one month later. Cortical excitability was measured before and after the end of sessions. RESULTS: There was a significant improvement on all rating scales after either 1 Hz or 20 Hz rTMS, but the effect persisted for longer after 20 Hz (treatment X time interaction for UPDRS and IADL (P = 0.075 and 0.04, respectively). Neither treatment affected motor thresholds, but 20 Hz rTMS increased MEP amplitude and the duration of transcallosal inhibition. In an exploratory analysis, each group was subdivided into akinetic-rigid and tremor dominant subgroups and the effects of 1 Hz and 20 Hz treatment recalculated. There was weak evidence that patients with an akinetic-rigid presentation may respond better than those with predominant tremor. CONCLUSION: Both 20 Hz and 1 Hz rTMS improve motor function in PD, but 20 Hz rTMS is more effective

    Photonic Analogue of Two-dimensional Topological Insulators and Helical One-Way Edge Transport in Bi-Anisotropic Metamaterials

    Recent progress in understanding the topological properties of condensed matter has led to the discovery of time-reversal invariant topological insulators. Because of limitations imposed by nature, topologically non-trivial electronic order seems to be uncommon except in small-band-gap semiconductors with strong spin-orbit interactions. In this Article we show that artificial electromagnetic structures, known as metamaterials, provide an attractive platform for designing photonic analogues of topological insulators. We demonstrate that a judicious choice of the metamaterial parameters can create photonic phases that support a pair of helical edge states, and that these edge states enable one-way photonic transport that is robust against disorder.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figure
