Los entes de razón en Suárez. Una concepción barroca de la realidad

In this paper I shall show the relevant role which the beings of reason play in Suarez’s philosophy, namely, the role of being the guarantee of the scientific validity. For this thesis it is basic to discover the difference between the chimera and other beings of reason: the negation, the relation of reason and the privation. In this way, Suarez sets the basis of the properly baroque way of understanding the world as an extra-mental reality which is only cognoscible through the artful device of the being of reason. Suarez conceives the science from the Aristotelean perspective, that is why he does not appreciate the mathematical beings of reason. Nevertheless, we do believe that the notion of being of reason is helpful in the comprehension of the singularity of the baroque metaphysics in comparison to the posterior ontologism. We enter, therefore, in discussion with the marked tendency to interpret the metaphysics of Suarez in an ontological way.En el presente artículo se pretende mostrar la importante función que Suárez tiene reservada a los entes de razón: el aseguramiento de la validez científica. Al respecto resulta fundamental caer en la cuenta de la diferencia entre la quimera y el resto de los entes de razón: negación, relación de razón y privación. Con ello Suárez ha asentado las bases de la manera propiamente barroca de entender el mundo: una realidad extramental para cuyo conocimiento científico requerimos de la introducción del artificio, del ente de razón; aunque Suárez tiene aún en mente el modelo de ciencia aristotélica, basado en la relación de universalidad, lo que le hace despreciar los entes de razón matemáticos. En todo caso, creemos que los entes de razón ayudan a comprender la singularidad de la metafísica barroca respecto al ontologismo posterior. Nos situamos así, críticamente, frente a las interpretaciones marcadamente ontologistas de la metafísica de Suárez

[Resumen] Más allá de la elección de un star-quitecto del panorama actual, surge la necesidad de procurar referentes arquitectónicos que, aunque no hayan construido obras significativamente grandes, las hayan proyectado con un grado suficiente de reflexión como para ser tenidas en cuenta en la evolución de nuestra profesión. Glenn Murcutt no sólo responde a esta necesidad, sino que su labor fue reconocida con la obtención del Premio Pritzker de Arquitectura en 2002. Los sistemas de acreditación : aproximación conceptual y teórica

Cuando se habla de sistemas de acreditación en la literatura pedagógica y en los textos legales siempre se hace como un medio llamado a cumplir varias funciones sociales y educativas al mismo tiempo: para responder a los acelerados cambios sociales, para elevar el nivel de formación de la población, para reducir la exclusión social, para mejorar la transparencia del mercado de trabajo, etc. En este artículo se analiza la perspectiva teórica y conceptual de los sistemas de acreditación, exponiendo algunas ideas para el debate sobre las razones pedagógicas que podrían justificar y legitimar estas nuevas estrategias educativas, y proponiendo finalmente lo que podrían ser algunas bases conceptuales de los sistemas de acreditación, así como una clasificación de los mismos.Quan parlem de sistemes d'acreditació en la literatura pedagògica i en els textos legals sempre es fa a fi de complir diferents funcions socials i educatives alhora: per respondre als accelerats canvis socials, per augmentar el nivell formatiu de la població, per reduir l'exclusió social, per millorar la transparència del mercat de treball, etc. En aquest article s'analitza la perspectiva teòrica i conceptual dels sistemes d'acreditació, exposant algunes idees per al debat sobre les raons pedagògiques que podrien justificar i legitimar aquestes noves estratègies educatives, i proposant finalment el que podrien ser les bases conceptuals dels sistemes d'acreditació, així com una classificació d'aquests.When we talk about accreditation systems both in pedagogic literature and in legal texts we always do it as a means of fulfilling several educational and social functions at the same time: to answer the fast-growing social changes, to promote the level of competence in the population, to reduce social exclusion, to improve transparency in the labour market, etc. This article tries to analyse the conceptual and theoretical perspective of accreditation systems, presenting some ideas for the debate on the pedagogical reasons that could justify and legitimise these new strategies and finally propose what might be considered some of the conceptual bases of accreditation systems as well as their classification

Reflexiones en torno a la diferencia esencial entre animales y humanos: ¿un problema constitutivo de la antropología filosófica?

Se pretende articular distintos planteamientos filosóficos, que se hacen cargo de las diferencias cualitativas entre humanos y animales, fundando, de arriba abajo, los paradigmas simbólicos (Cassirer), intersubjetivo (Torodov) y espiritual (Scheler). Tal intento se apoyará en la perspectiva integradora de Zubiri. Se analizan, además, los peligros que conlleva la insistencia en definir lo humano por contraposición a lo animal: la tendencia al dualismo entre lo biológico y lo cultural, y a acabar rompiendo la diferencia entre la esencia físico-biológica y la metafísico-trascendental.It is the aim of this paper to articulate different philosophical views that take into account the qualitative differences between humans and animals. To this purpose I integrate Cassirer’s symbolic paradigm, Todorov’s intersubjective one, and the spiritual paradigm of Scheler’s basing (top-down) each one on the other. Zubiri’s all-arching (integrative) perspective should serve as a basis for such an attempt. The paper will further analyze the dangers that threat the persistent attempt to define ‘the human’ by contrast to ‘the animal’: the tendency to draw a dualism between the biological and the cultural, and to end up breaking the difference between psychobiological considerations and transcendental metaphysical ones

Spaces Times and roles in the social control of everyday life

[EN] Social dynamics since the late seventeenth century have incorporated a series of discursive systems that are the fruit of the process of constituting power and control over public morals and safeguarding traditional religious values. The Church, as a repressive agent and shaper of consciences, has exercised multiple forms of control and surveillance that have been justified within the regime of daily life so that control could be effective. It has additionally implemented a system of domination. The general objective here is to describe and analyse the daily conduct within the convent as a total institution. We do so via a reconstruction that is based on descriptions of daily life and the tensions between rules and lived experiences and between the given conditions, as well as the way in which these appropriated the aforementioned descriptions. We analyse the collected data from the perspectives of anthropology and sociology, focusing primarily on Erving Goffman’s symbolic interactionism, as well as from aspects of Foucault’s work in the form of his consideration of the body as a social and cultural product and of the repertoire of inquiries that he undertakes on social practices of regulation and domination of bodies that have led to a significant imbalance in perceptions of control over our bodies and our sexuality. Our findings show that obedience is a basic requirement in the construction of and domination over the other, since it is inscribed in a discourse of power.S

Design and Installation Challenges of the Neutral Beam Absorbers for the Large Hadron Collider at CERN

El CERN (Consejo Europeo de Investigación Nuclear) está construyendo su nuevo acelerador de partículas en la frontera franco-suiza. Actualmente en la fase de instalación, El Large Hadron Collider (LHC), con 26,7 kilómetros de longitud a 100 metros bajo tierra, será el mayor y más potente acelerador de partículas jamás construido. A su llegada al CERN, cada uno de casi 2000 imanes superconductores que formarán parte del acelerador debe ser verificado, ensamblado y transportado hasta su punto final de instalación. Una estricta metodología se ha implementado para cumplir los objetivos del Planning General de la Instalación. Sin embargo, ninguna metodología concreta ha sido establecida para la instalación de los componentes más particulares del acelerador. Los Neutral Beam Absorbers son cuatro elementos cuya función principal es absorber el flujo de partículas de alta energía procedentes de los dos principales puntos de colisión del acelerador para proteger los imanes superconductores más próximos a las colisiones. Este proyecto tiene como objetivo definir las necesidades y las soluciones que aseguren la instalación de los 4 Neutral Beam Abosrbers en el acelerador de acuerdo con las especificaciones técnicas definidas y a tiempo con el planning general del LHC. En orden cronológico, este proyecto detalla las instrucciones de manutención, diseño de utillaje y conjunto de actividades que deben respetarse incluyendo: • Estudio de peso y estabilidad frente a seísmos. • Análisis estructural para la correcta manipulación de los frágiles tubos de vacío de cada uno de los Neutral Beam Absorbers. • Dimensionado del sistema de fijación y diseño del utillaje que permita el tratamiento de los tubos de vacío. • Especificación técnica de las necesidades y actividades logísticas que permitan el descenso de los 4 Neutral Beam Absorbers y su transporte por el interior del túnel hasta su punto final de instalación. La metodología establecida en este proyecto ha sido finalizada y aprobada por el CERN, encontrándose en estos momentos (mayo 2005) en la fase de tratamiento de los tubos de vacío y habiendo culminado con éxito las fases precedentes. Asimismo, cada una de las actividades descritas en este proyecto se está desarrollando cumpliendo escrupulosamente con el Planning General de Instalación
