    On design of quantized fault detection filters with randomly occurring nonlinearities and mixed time-delays

    This paper is concerned with the fault detection problem for a class of discrete-time systems with randomly occurring nonlinearities, mixed stochastic time-delays as well as measurement quantizations. The nonlinearities are assumed to occur in a random way. The mixed time-delays comprise both the multiple discrete time-delays and the infinite distributed delays that occur in a random way as well. A sequence of stochastic variables is introduced to govern the random occurrences of the nonlinearities, discrete time-delays and distributed time-delays, where all the stochastic variables are mutually independent but obey the Bernoulli distribution. The main purpose of this paper is to design a fault detection filter such that, in the presence of measurement quantization, the overall fault detection dynamics is exponentially stable in the mean square and, at the same time, the error between the residual signal and the fault signal is made as small as possible. Sufficient conditions are first established via intensive stochastic analysis for the existence of the desired fault detection filters, and then the explicit expression of the desired filter gains is derived by means of the feasibility of certain matrix inequalities. Also, the optimal performance index for the addressed fault detection problem can be obtained by solving an auxiliary convex optimization problem. A practical example is provided to show the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed design method

Both the Lipschitz-like and ellipsoid-bounded nonlinearities are considered. The non-Gaussian noises are assumed to be unknown, bounded, and confined to specified ellipsoidal sets. The aim of the addressed filtering problem is to develop a recursive algorithm based on the semi-definite programme method such that, for the admissible time-delays, nonlinear parameters and external bounded noise disturbances, the quadratic estimation error is not more than a certain optimized upper bound at every time step. The filter parameters are characterized in terms of the solution to a convex optimization problem that can be easily solved by using the semi-definite programme method.     It was the L_2 L_infinity performance index that for the first time is initiated into the discussion on state estimation of delayed MJNNs with with partially known transition probabilities, which provides a more general promotion for the estimation error.The WTOD protocol is adopted to dispatch the sensor nodes so as to effectively alleviate the updating frequency of output signals. The hybrid effects of the time delays, Markov chain, and protocol parameters are apparently reflected in the co-designed estimator which can be solved by a combination of comprehensive matrix inequalities

    Vibration suppression in multi-body systems by means of disturbance filter design methods

    This paper addresses the problem of interaction in mechanical multi-body systems and shows that subsystem interaction can be considerably minimized while increasing performance if an efficient disturbance model is used. In order to illustrate the advantage of the proposed intelligent disturbance filter, two linear model based techniques are considered: IMC and the model based predictive (MPC) approach. As an illustrative example, multivariable mass-spring-damper and quarter car systems are presented. An adaptation mechanism is introduced to account for linear parameter varying LPV conditions. In this paper we show that, even if the IMC control strategy was not designed for MIMO systems, if a proper filter is used, IMC can successfully deal with disturbance rejection in a multivariable system, and the results obtained are comparable with those obtained by a MIMO predictive control approach. The results suggest that both methods perform equally well, with similar numerical complexity and implementation effort

    Asynchronous switching control for fuzzy Markov jump systems with periodically varying delay and its application to electronic circuits

    This article focuses on addressing the issue of asynchronous H∞ control for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy Markov jump systems with generally incomplete transition probabilities (TPs). The delay is assumed to vary periodically, resulting in one monotonically increasing interval and one monotonically decreasing interval during each period. Meanwhile, a new Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) is devised, which depends on membership functions (MFs) and two looped functions formulated for the monotonic intervals. Since the modes and TPs of the original system are assumed to be unavailable, an asynchronous switching fuzzy controller on the basis of hidden Markov model is proposed to stabilize the fuzzy Markov jump systems (FMJSs) with generally incomplete TPs. Consequently, a stability criterion with improved practicality and reduced conservatism is derived, ensuring the stochastic stability and H∞ performance of the closed-loop system. Finally, this technique is employed to the tunnel diode circuit system, and a comparison example is given, which verifies the practicality and superiority of the method

    A method for obtaining the preventive maintenance interval in the absence of failure time data

    One of the ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other polluting gases caused by ships is to improve their maintenance operations through their life cycle. The maintenance manager usually does not modify the preventive intervals that the equipment manufacturer has designed to reduce the failure. Conditions of use and maintenance often change from design conditions. In these cases, continuing using the manufacturer's preventive intervals can lead to non-optimal management situations. This article proposes a new method to calculate the preventive interval when the hours of failure of the assets are unavailable. Two scenarios were created to test the effectiveness and usefulness of this new method, one without the failure hours and the other with the failure hours corresponding to a bypass valve installed in the engine of a maritime transport surveillance vessel. In an easy and fast way, the proposed method allows the maintenance manager to calculate the preventive interval of equipment that does not have installed an instrument for measuring operating hours installed

    Performance Guarantee of a Class of Continuous LPV System with Restricted-Model-Based Control

    This paper considers the problem of the robust stabilisation of a class of continuous Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) systems under specifications. In order to guarantee the stabilisation of the plant with very large parameter uncertainties or variations, an output derivative estimation controller is considered. The design of such controller that guarantee desired  induced gain performance is examined. Furthermore, a simple procedure for achieving the  norm performance is proved for any all-poles single-input/single-output second order plant. The proof of stability is based on the polytopic representation of the closed loop under Lyapunov conditions and system transformations. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified via a numerical example
