Complemental Fuzzy Sets: A Semantic Justification of q-Rung Orthopair Fuzzy Sets

Get PDF
This article introduces complemental fuzzy sets, explains their semantics, and presents a subclass of this model that generalizes intuitionistic fuzzy sets in a novel manner. It also provides practical results that will facilitate their implementation in real situations. At the theoretical level, we define a family of c-complemental fuzzy sets from each fuzzy negation c. We argue that this construction provides semantic justification for all subfamilies of complemental fuzzy sets, which include q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets (when c is a Yager’s fuzzy complement) and the new family of Sugeno intuitionistic fuzzy sets (when c belongs to the class of Sugeno’s fuzzy complements). We study fundamental operations and a general methodology for the aggregation of complemental fuzzy sets. Then, we give some specific examples of aggregation operators to illustrate their applicability. On a more practical level, constructive proofs demonstrate that all orthopair fuzzy sets on finite sets that satisfy a mild restriction are Sugeno intuitionistic fuzzy sets, and they are q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets for some q too. These contributions produce a new operational model that semantically justifies, and mathematically contains, “almost all” orthopair fuzzy sets on finite sets.Junta de Castilla y León y European Regional Development Fund (Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional), CLU-2019-03, de apoyo a la unidad de investigación de excelencia “Economic Management for Sustainability” (GECOS)

An Optimization Model for Appraising Intrusion-Detection Systems for Network Security Communications:Applications, Challenges, and Solutions

Get PDF
Cyber-attacks are getting increasingly complex, and as a result, the functional concerns of intrusion-detection systems (IDSs) are becoming increasingly difficult to resolve. The credibility of security services, such as privacy preservation, authenticity, and accessibility, may be jeopardized if breaches are not detected. Different organizations currently utilize a variety of tactics, strategies, and technology to protect the systems’ credibility in order to combat these dangers. Safeguarding approaches include establishing rules and procedures, developing user awareness, deploying firewall and verification systems, regulating system access, and forming computer-issue management groups. The effectiveness of intrusion-detection systems is not sufficiently recognized. IDS is used in businesses to examine possibly harmful tendencies occurring in technological environments. Determining an effective IDS is a complex task for organizations that require consideration of many key criteria and their sub-aspects. To deal with these multiple and interrelated criteria and their sub-aspects, a multi-criteria decision-making (MCMD) approach was applied. These criteria and their sub-aspects can also include some ambiguity and uncertainty, and thus they were treated using q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets (q-ROFS) and q-rung orthopair fuzzy numbers (q-ROFNs). Additionally, the problem of combining expert and specialist opinions was dealt with using the q-rung orthopair fuzzy weighted geometric (q-ROFWG). Initially, the entropy method was applied to assess the priorities of the key criteria and their sub-aspects. Then, the combined compromised solution (CoCoSo) method was applied to evaluate six IDSs according to their effectiveness and reliability. Afterward, comparative and sensitivity analyses were performed to confirm the stability, reliability, and performance of the proposed approach. The findings indicate that most of the IDSs appear to be systems with high potential. According to the results, Suricata is the best IDS that relies on multi-threading performance

Considering the fuzziness of evaluation information and the psychological states of decision makers (DMs) in selecting process, a novel TODIM based on prospect theory with q-rung orthopair fuzzy set (q-ROFS) is proposed. The novel TODIM concerns both the perceived transformed probability weighting function and the differences in risk attitudes. A new distance, which concerns the herd mentality, is carried out to measure the perceived difference of the q-ROFS. Besides, a new systematic evaluation index system, named as PCEM (Product, Cooperation ability, Environment, Market), has been established. A case related to pork supplier companies is presented and fully demonstrates the effectiveness of the novel TODIM when compared with the extended one, the intuitionistic fuzzy TODIM, the Pythagorean fuzzy TODIM as well as the TOPSIS with q-ROFS. Finally, a series of comparative analyses illustrate the advantages of the proposed TODIM.Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities JBK2001043 JBK190969FEDER funds provided in the National Spanish project PID2019-103880RB-I00National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) 7191010700

An integrated decision-making approach based on q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets in service industry

This study defines key issues for sustainable healthcare policy in COVID-19 period. For this purpose, 9 different criteria that affect vaccine hesitancy are selected with the help of a detailed literature evaluation. A novel hybrid fuzzy decision-making model is developed using DEMATEL and TOPSIS based on q-Rung orthopair fuzzy sets. A comparative evaluation has also been performed using IF DEMATEL and PF DEMATEL. The results of all different methods are almost the same that indicates the reliability and coherency of the proposed model. The findings demonstrate that religion is the most critical factor that causes vaccine hesitancy. It is also defined that active population in daily life is the most important alternative. Developing countries should mainly focus on the actions regarding the religious issues to have sustainable healthcare policies in COVID-19 period. In this context, religious leaders can be released to the media and give information that the vaccine is not against religious rules. This has a significant contribution to convince people who are against the vaccine. Furthermore, these countries should also give priorities to the active population in daily life. Because this group supports the workforce in the country very seriously, it can be possible to increase the workforce in the country by completing the vaccination of this group that helps to boost economic development

q-Rung Orthopair fuzzy time series forecasting technique: Prediction based decision making

The literature frequently uses fuzzy inference methods for time series forecasting. In business and other situations, it is frequently necessary to forecast numerous time series. The q-Rung orthopair fuzzy set is a beneficial and competent tool to address ambiguity. In this research, a computational forecasting method based on q-Rung orthopair fuzzy time series has been created to deliver better prediction results to deal with situations containing higher uncertainty caused by large fluctuations in consecutive years' values in time series data and with no visualization of trend or periodicity. The main objective of this article is to handle time series forecasting with the usage of q-Rung orthopair fuzzy sets for things like floods, admission of students, number of patients, etc. After this, people can then manage issues that will arise in the future. Previously, there was a gap in determining the forecasting of data whose entire value of membership and non-membership exceeded 1. To fill this kind of gap, we used q-Rung orthopair fuzzy sets in time series forecasting. We also used numerous algebraic components for the q-Rung orthopair fuzzy time series, which has a union, max-min composition, cartesian product, and algorithm that are useful to calculate the method of data forecasting. Moreover, we also defined the algorithm and proposed MATLAB code that facilitates the execution of mathematical calculations, design, analysis, and optimization (structural and mathematical), and gives results with speed, correctness, and precision. At the end, we tested the model using historical student enrollment data and the annual peak discharge at Guddu Barrage. Furthermore, we calculated the error to get an idea of to what extent this method is suitable

Uncertain Multi-Criteria Optimization Problems

Get PDF
Most real-world search and optimization problems naturally involve multiple criteria as objectives. Generally, symmetry, asymmetry, and anti-symmetry are basic characteristics of binary relationships used when modeling optimization problems. Moreover, the notion of symmetry has appeared in many articles about uncertainty theories that are employed in multi-criteria problems. Different solutions may produce trade-offs (conflicting scenarios) among different objectives. A better solution with respect to one objective may compromise other objectives. There are various factors that need to be considered to address the problems in multidisciplinary research, which is critical for the overall sustainability of human development and activity. In this regard, in recent decades, decision-making theory has been the subject of intense research activities due to its wide applications in different areas. The decision-making theory approach has become an important means to provide real-time solutions to uncertainty problems. Theories such as probability theory, fuzzy set theory, type-2 fuzzy set theory, rough set, and uncertainty theory, available in the existing literature, deal with such uncertainties. Nevertheless, the uncertain multi-criteria characteristics in such problems have not yet been explored in depth, and there is much left to be achieved in this direction. Hence, different mathematical models of real-life multi-criteria optimization problems can be developed in various uncertain frameworks with special emphasis on optimization problems

Fuzzy Techniques for Decision Making 2018

Zadeh's fuzzy set theory incorporates the impreciseness of data and evaluations, by imputting the degrees by which each object belongs to a set. Its success fostered theories that codify the subjectivity, uncertainty, imprecision, or roughness of the evaluations. Their rationale is to produce new flexible methodologies in order to model a variety of concrete decision problems more realistically. This Special Issue garners contributions addressing novel tools, techniques and methodologies for decision making (inclusive of both individual and group, single- or multi-criteria decision making) in the context of these theories. It contains 38 research articles that contribute to a variety of setups that combine fuzziness, hesitancy, roughness, covering sets, and linguistic approaches. Their ranges vary from fundamental or technical to applied approaches

Sequences of refinements of rough sets: logical and algebraic aspects

Get PDF
In this thesis, a generalization of the classical Rough set theory is developed considering the so-called sequences of orthopairs that we define as special sequences of rough sets. Mainly, our aim is to introduce some operations between sequences of orthopairs, and to discover how to generate them starting from the operations concerning standard rough sets. Also, we prove several representation theorems representing the class of finite centered Kleene algebras with the interpolation property, and some classes of finite residuated lattices (more precisely, we consider Nelson algebras, Nelson lattices, IUML-algebras and Kleene lattice with implication) as sequences of orthopairs. Moreover, as an application, we show that a sequence of orthopairs can be used to represent an examiner's opinion on a number of candidates applying for a job, and we show that opinions of two or more examiners can be combined using operations between sequences of orthopairs in order to get a final decision on each candidate. Finally, we provide the original modal logic SOn with semantics based on sequences of orthopairs, and we employ it to describe the knowledge of an agent that increases over time, as new information is provided. Modal logic Son is characterized by the sequences (□1,…, □n) and (O1,…, On) of n modal operators corresponding to a sequence (t1,…, tn) of consecutive times. Furthermore, the operator □i of (□1,…, □n) represents the knowledge of an agent at time ti, and it coincides with the necessity modal operator of S5 logic. On the other hand, the main innovative aspect of modal logic SOn is the presence of the sequence (O1,…, On), since Oi establishes whether an agent is interested in knowing a given fact at time ti
